Hi..

Last time when these two teams met, to a big surprise Pune defeated CSK, courtesy Steven Smith’s handy knock. Can the history repeat itself. Not really with a kind of form Men in yellow as of now.

Chennai won the toss and decided to Bat first, Lost the openers in quick succession, in form Hussey departed very early, finally giving a chance for Badrinath to bat, He stitched a partnership with Suresh Raina and gave CSK a solid platform for the skipper Dhoni to unleash himself in the last 5 overs and he just killed PWI by scoring 45 of 16 balls to end the CSK innings with 164/3 in 20 overs. PWI never looked like they are going to chase this score stated losing wickets in heaps, they lost top 4 in no time and 6 down in 9 overs summed up the whole game. Mohit Sharma bowled well to pick 3 crucial top order wickets. As always Steven Smith was the only man who tried to put a fight, but too much for him to handle.

Chennai Super Kings won the match by 37 runs…

IPL 6: Day 27–Beauty & Blistering, Samson & Rohit Sharma respectively…

April 30, 2013 at 1:29 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi..

Back to Back double header for 3 days in a row now. You tend to feel bored, You shouldn’t be, Because IPL just gave two of their best games on a Monday and that in a month end. Have to feel sorry for those who definitely missed it.

Game 1, RCB looking to pluck their away game losing streak in Jaipur, but before that Dravid won the toss and decided to field first. As always Gayle gave a brisk start, but Middle order of RCB didn’t capitalise much on it. Kohli, Henriqures & ABD played a kind of slow innings compared to their standards. But Vinay Kumar’s three sixes in the last over kept RCB over the par score. 171/6 in 20 overs. Dravid & co started the chase, but this time it was another Master stroke from the Skipper, brought Sanju Samson, 18 years of age young lad first down. he showed class in pull, elegance in inside out’s and innovation in Dilscoop. Still he departed after a good Maiden IPL fifty, Watson and Binny with last stroke ensured Royals fortress remained unconquered and RCB will have their fourth away game losses in a row now.

Rajasthan Royals won the match by 4 wickets with 1 ball to spare…

Game 2, Mumbai takes on KXIP, Gilly decided to sit and came in skipper David Hussey, Rohit sharma who won the coin decided to bat first, as he decided, it looked like his sole responsibility to get Mumbai to a decent score, which he did fantastically by scoring 79 runs of 39 balls. Other Mumbai players stayed to support him, which meant Mumbai made 174/3 in 20 overs. Chasing started wayward, as KXIP lost two of the good players cheaply, Hussey & Marsh who got it first game tried his best to up the antic, before big man from Caribbean again pull out a one hand blinder to send March on his way back. Stiller Miller & Praveen Kumar played their parts to get close as much possible, but in the end 27 runs from David Hussey in last over made difference.

Mumbai Indians won the match by 4 runs…

IPL 6: Day 26–Its Mr.Cricket for CSK & Warner for Delhi…

April 28, 2013 at 11:58 pm (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi all,

Double header to kill the time in a Sunday…

First Game, Game of heavyweight’s Chennai taking on Kolkata, Gambhir won the coin and strangely decided to field first, Which helped Dhoni & Men to salve themselves from the scorching sun and make KKR pay for their mistake. Mr Cricket does it again & again for CSK. Today with another breath taking 95 runs in sapping conditions, well supported first by Saha (who got the chance because Vijay is injured) then later by Raina. As always Dhoni finished up the innings in style to post their highest score for the season. CSK ended up with mammoth 200/3 in 20 overs. Chasing almost 10 runs an over, KKR got a delicious first over from rusty Nannes who gave 14 runs away as freebies, not only that today, CSK totally looked awkward in fielding & bowling except for one or two overs. Thanks they had enough runs on the board to save themselves from the mistakes. Bisla’s monumental effort almost gave KKR the victory before Huss Monster shacked the stumps to break the hopes of KKR. A good last over from Morris ensured CSK won the match finally. They chase or defend, it doesn’t count, one thing for sure is Last over & tense moments, where CSK will emerge victorious.

Chennai Super Kings won the match by 14 runs…

Second game battle for wooden spooner’s as the last two team in the table fight out their last position to rise over the above. Everyone of the Delhi batsmen had a start but as it was the case in the tournament, failed to convert it, And again Warner played a important knock of 51 from 25 balls to put Delhi at a comfortable zone of 164/5 in 20 overs. Pune started off well, thanks to poor fielding efforts from Delhi, Finch & Uthappa made 37 runs each before getting dismissed in the same over, which opened the back door Delhi and they started sneaking past slowly & steadily, Luke Wright also helped their course with poor batting. Finally Delhi just moved up the ladder a touch up to end up at 8th position in the Standing list.

Delhi Daredevils won the match by 15 runs…

With Tournament almost half way through, from now on it becomes necessary to keep a note on Standings, So here they are…

Hi…

Double Header Weekend is back…

First Game, Rajasthan made it much more simpler than I could right here… Faulkner, Chandila & Cooper bowled excellently to reduce SRH to 29/6 in 6 overs after choosing to bat first. Just when they thought SRH may not even cross fifty, Thanks again to Mishra & Darren Sammy who played the game of his life to bring them back in game with his hard fought 60 runs. SRH finished at 144 runs, more than they should have actually got for a kind of start they had. Rahane didn’t make much impression but Skipper & Binny played a supporting role to One Man Army Watson to score 98* blistering runs to win the match in ease.

Then began the real Battle, walked in the Predator with his heavy swing arms, but Mitchell Johnson & Malinga were on par with their bowling skills to keep him in the Bay, But it was the Turbanator who picked up the Predator. IPL 6: Day 23–Captain Cool does it again & again & again for CSK…

April 26, 2013 at 12:41 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi…

Its a typical CSK screenplay written game for Chennai Ground. Opposition has a bad start, then in the death CSK bowlers will lose the plot to concede more runs in  last, then CSK follows up with a blistering opening partnership, Few quite overs and fall of wickets at wrong time, take the required run rate up to 12 runs per over possible even higher, then as always there will be Captain Cool who will finish the match in the last over with a hit to fence.

Nothing much changed, Sunrisers got to a poor start as they were 61/4 in 10 overs, then late surge by Dhawan & Ashish Reddy made sure SRH scored 159/6 in 20 overs. CSK with the help of Hussey & Vijay got a start of 65 runs in 7 overs. Then came the quite overs and fall of wickets of Hussey, Raina & Bravo. Required run rate was close to 12 runs when Bravo was out, As per the script Dhoni stayed till the end to finish the match with a six & followed it by couple of boundaries to win the match for CSK.

Chennai Super Kings won the match by 5 wickets with 2 balls to spare…

Interesting Stats IPL 6 Day 23:

– MSD scored his 11th IPL Fifty and also gone past 2000 runs in his IPL career.

– This is the first time Dwayne Bravo dismissed Darren Sammy in a T20 international.

– 59 runs scored by SRH in the last four is the highest ever for them in IPL career.

– Two boundaries scored of Ashwin’s last over is the first of the kind for this season for him.

– It is fifth time Dhoni has finished an innings on the wining note out of 6 times he has remained not out while chasing in IPL career.

– With 3 wickets to his name to Amit Mishra, Now he is the joint highest wicket taker with Malinga with 88 wickets to name.

– Three sixes conceded by Steyn in his 4 overs is the first time in IPL career.

– 1-45 by Dales Steyn is the second most expensive spell in IPL, and 4th in his T20 career.

– Out of 6 games Chennai have won, 4 have been completed in the last over.

– Dwayne Bravo picked up his 10th Catch for this season highest by any player in IPL 6, followed by Ashish Reddy with 7.

– There was an incident, Where 8 runs required of 4 balls and Ashish Reddy bowled a wayward delivery which went for a wide boundary, that’s what umpire said so. But Dhoni straightaway went up to him and said, he nicked the ball, then umpire turned down his wide signal and gave it as four runs of the bat. Captain cool certainly earned some points in Fairplay for his team.

IPL 6: Day 21–Gayle’s Day in record books & Harmeet Singh also won MOM…

April 23, 2013 at 11:28 pm (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi…

Double header on a Tuesday, Not many would want it, Unless they are willing to see the fireworks of Chris Gayle.

First Game, Had one name to be written, Just CHRIS GAYLE… One man literally played against 11 Pune players and won the game hands down. Records kept tumbling as Gayle kept swinging his bat (all those tumbled records are listed below). Ballistic Gayle went on to score 175 runs in 66 balls, which had 13 fours, 17 sixes & 18 dot balls. Other played the second fiddle around him, RCB ended with the highest T20 score 263/5 in 20 overs. PWI played their 20 overs trying to reduce their deficit of defeat, and ended up scoring 133 runs, leaving them just sort of 130 runs from the target. A point to note, Gayle also picked 2 wickets in the only over he bowled.

Royal Challengers Bangalore won the match by 130 runs…

Second Game, After having a Power packed, you can’t eclipse the effort of calypso,  So it was always a dull game, where people relived the moments of glory of Chris Gayle and in between there was a match between Delhi & Punjab. Delhi batted first, back to square one as they were in the tournament till the last game, lost wickets to poor shots and poor batting efforts to sum Delhi’s score of 120 in good batting track. KXIP started off the chase in a flyer and kept the chase going even though wickets are falling every now & then. But in the end they chased it with 3 full overs to spare.

Kings XI Punjab won the match by 5 wickets with 18 balls to spare…

IPL 6: Day 20– Aggressive Hussey floors Watto power…

April 23, 2013 at 1:51 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi…

A Game of D’s, Dhoni Vs Dravid, Mass Vs Class… Always a treat to watch this combination for any cricket lover and definitely for me too…Dravid won the Toss and decided to Bat first, A simple one liner was the royals batting, Just Watson show all the way, Showed no mercy to any bowler ad he hardly worried about what length or line they bowled, Sheer display of Watto Powerhouse which allowed him to go past first century mark in this season of IPL. Binny and other Rajasthan players played around him to get to a score of 185 runs in 20 overs.

Chasing 185+ is always tough for any team and if one team could do with ease then it has to be CSK with the kind of batting line up they have, Only problem for them is Raina & Badrinath have not come to form yet. But it gave an opportunity today to the Later to get back his golden knick with bat, who scored his first six in this season IPL & first fifty of this season. Raina also empowered Hussey all the way who looked aggressive right from the word go and always kept the required run rate under control. At one stage when Dravid pulled a stunning run out & wickets of Jadeja + Dhoni trickled a small confusion in the CSK dugout, but Bravo ensured to clear the ropes comfortably once in the last over to get past the win line in style with a ball to spare…

Chennai Super Kings won the match by 5 wickets with 1 ball to spare…

Interesting Stats IPL 6 Day 20:

– Shane Watson scored the first century of this season of IPL; it is also the 25th century for IPL tournament in all seasons.

– Watson’s 101 runs over shined Shewag’s 95* for the highest score for this season.

– Out of 7 innings Murali Vijay is out for a single digit in 4 of them.

– 58 runs scored by CSK in the powerplay overs is the highest for them in this season.

– This season has been made to wait longest to get the first century (30 matches), previous season was the slowest which took 18 matches.

– This is the first time Rajasthan Royals have lost a match when they have scored more than 162 runs, their record stands 15 – 0 till today, as now it will be rewritten as 15-1.

– Suresh Raina scored his 15th IPL fifty and also his first six for this season.

– Chennai has chased 5 times (including today) the score anything above 185+ and lost 3 times.

– Ravindra Jadeja scored his 3rd IPL duck and first as a Chennai Super King.

– 49 runs conceded by Kevon Cooper is the highest in any T20 international game.

– This is fourth time in IPL out of 25 occasions an IPL century has ended up in a losing side, previous century scorer are Symonds, Yusuf Pathan, Tendulkar & now Watson.

– Michael Hussey became the second player after Virat Kohli to breach 300 runs mark for this season.

– Both 185 runs target set yesterday by PWI and today by RR are achieved by chasing team exactly in the penultimate ball of the match, this is also the second match for CSK to win a game with just a ball to spare.

IPL 6: Day 19–Shewag & Miller deliver Killer Blows…

April 22, 2013 at 12:26 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi..

Double Header Sunday, Two important games for four teams involved…

First Game, Delhi take on Mumbai, Later yet to register themselves in the point table, having lost 6 games in a trot, certainly needed a turn around, if they have any thought of Play offs. Mumbai won the toss and decided to bat first, another change in opening partnership where Dwayne Smith walked out with Sachin, but later failed to deliver, followed a straight drive from Sachin and tickle from Umesh to see Dinesh Karthik’s back as he was backing up too far. Both Rohit & Sachin up the antics to stick a partnership 96 runs between them and few lusty blows from Pollard ensured Mumbai scored 161 in 20 overs. Delhi came out with a piece of advise from the Calypso legend Viv Richards who has joined as the mentor. Oh… Man… Now the whole world want to know what Viv has said…  Both Shewag & Jayawardene came out all guns blazing and smoked Mumbai Indians bowling and stitched the highest partnership for this season to win it all hands down with 18 balls to spare. Where was this Delhi hiding all this days….? Man from Caribbean came to woke up the tigers i guess…

Delhi Daredevils won the match by 9 wickets with 18 balls to spare…

Second Game, Where most would not be interested PWI Vs KXIP, all would have expected a low scoring affair and not a big game of cricket. But to all surprise came the highest scoring game of this season. For the first time this season Batsmen have called the shots and not the bowlers. For Pune it was Uthappa, Finch, Yuvaraj & Luke Wright who massacred the KXIP bowlers and scored 185 runs. Later KXIP in chase looked almost out when they lost Skipper Gilly & Azhar Mahmood in the space of 7 balls, leaving 5/2 in 1.1 overs. Manan Vohra came together with Mandeep Singh to get a fifty partnership before throwing his wicket away, But David Miller 80*(41) made sure his gritty knock doesn’t go vain as he and Mandeep Singh 77*(58) scored the winning runs in the penultimate ball to clinch a thriller…

Kings XI Punjab won the match by 7 wickets with 1 ball to spare…
