Hi…

Double header again on IPL, in  no time its Match 58 & 59. 13 more to go after today…

Game 1, Another PWI’s dismal show and this time against mighty Mumbai Indians. PWI scored 112 in 20 overs which is not even a contest for Mumbai even though continued to pick wickets in regular interval. Over & all one thing to mention is Mumbai finally fielded their Million dollar man Glenn Maxwell as Pollard was injured. Misery Mitchell finished the neat job for Mumbai in the first innings to set the tone and Bhajji finished it with a Bhagnam dance to move second spot in points table.

Mumbai Indians won the match by 5 wickets with 7 balls to spare…

Game 2, Sunrisers took on KXIP on a very important game, Being a must win game, Sunriser’s finally came good with bat, thanks to Parthiv patel 61 and late contribution from Perara. 150 exactly on the board, KXIP on a tricky chase lost Mandeep early, however none of KXIP batsmen showed no hurry in chase and went in a very slow pace, which back fired them in the end. Even Pomersbach being not out in crease didn’t help in the course of victory. Sunrisers won the game comfortably in the end.

Sun Risers Hyderabad won the match by 30 runs…

Hi…

As expected Chennai became the first team to qualify for the play offs. Sun risers won the toss and decided to field first. But Sanga’s decision to bowl first was good for just first 6 balls. Murali Vijay then took Ishant for hat trick of sixes. Later he departed, Hussey & raina displayed a subliminal form of batting. A pleasure it was when Raina was striking it exactly in the covers of off side where field will not be able to get too. Raina finished the innings with a boundary and left stranded in 99*. CSK scoring a mammoth 223/4 in 20 overs.. Sunrisers never looked like chasing at any point of time, Dhawan was the man who could have pulled out some miracles but spot on Dhoni removed him cheaply, later it was a procession and CSK sealed the deal as the time passed.

IPL 6: Day 30–Raina’s Century & ABD’s blitzkrieg sums up…

May 3, 2013 at 12:29 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi..

Certainly its Midweek Madness as IPL  is going crazy by having third double header on a week on this same week.

Game 1, CSK in the form of their life met KXIP in their den, Saha & Hussey pair started the innings from the place where they left, As both departed bit earlier today than expected and Dhoni went for a non existent second run to leave the crease very early. So it was another Super Kings day to step up the scoring shoes and it was none other than IPL top scorer Suresh Raina, who did in style with a Century the only record missing in his IPL career resume. Shacky start by KXIP losing David hussey bit quick didn’t help them either. But Shaun Marsh & David Miller struck a partnership between them and got the important runs at crucial junctures and kept the chase always on till the last 6 balls bowled, Dwayne Bravo just made the important difference between both sides by just bowling the last over for just 3 runs and picking 3 wickets. CSK continue to roar in their den.

Chennai Super Kings won the match by 15 runs…

Game 2, not much fancied one as of now, Pune hosting RCB, Yes, What you think is right, this is the team which Gayle torn into pieces and went on to make record books re written. RCB won the toss and went on to pile up the runs in gradual pace today because Gayle has to depart bit early. However it is, in the end its ABD who stole the show and game from Pune Warriors India, by picking 26 runs in the last over bowled by Dinda. PWI as always started of by losing wickets in regular intervals, but for one change Robin Uthappa played a matured and classy knock but it was a lone battle waged which was too much and in the end Pune fell short. Giving RCB the much needed first away for this season.

Royal Challengers Bangalore won the match by 17 runs…

Standings as on DAY 30:

image

IPL 6: Day 26–Its Mr.Cricket for CSK & Warner for Delhi…

April 28, 2013 at 11:58 pm (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi all,

Double header to kill the time in a Sunday…

First Game, Game of heavyweight’s Chennai taking on Kolkata, Gambhir won the coin and strangely decided to field first, Which helped Dhoni & Men to salve themselves from the scorching sun and make KKR pay for their mistake. Mr Cricket does it again & again for CSK. Today with another breath taking 95 runs in sapping conditions, well supported first by Saha (who got the chance because Vijay is injured) then later by Raina. As always Dhoni finished up the innings in style to post their highest score for the season. CSK ended up with mammoth 200/3 in 20 overs. Chasing almost 10 runs an over, KKR got a delicious first over from rusty Nannes who gave 14 runs away as freebies, not only that today, CSK totally looked awkward in fielding & bowling except for one or two overs. Thanks they had enough runs on the board to save themselves from the mistakes. Bisla’s monumental effort almost gave KKR the victory before Huss Monster shacked the stumps to break the hopes of KKR. A good last over from Morris ensured CSK won the match finally. They chase or defend, it doesn’t count, one thing for sure is Last over & tense moments, where CSK will emerge victorious.

Chennai Super Kings won the match by 14 runs…

Second game battle for wooden spooner’s as the last two team in the table fight out their last position to rise over the above. Everyone of the Delhi batsmen had a start but as it was the case in the tournament, failed to convert it, And again Warner played a important knock of 51 from 25 balls to put Delhi at a comfortable zone of 164/5 in 20 overs. Pune started off well, thanks to poor fielding efforts from Delhi, Finch & Uthappa made 37 runs each before getting dismissed in the same over, which opened the back door Delhi and they started sneaking past slowly & steadily, Luke Wright also helped their course with poor batting. Finally Delhi just moved up the ladder a touch up to end up at 8th position in the Standing list.

Delhi Daredevils won the match by 15 runs…

With Tournament almost half way through, from now on it becomes necessary to keep a note on Standings, So here they are…

IPL 6: Day 20– Aggressive Hussey floors Watto power…

April 23, 2013 at 1:51 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi…

A Game of D’s, Dhoni Vs Dravid, Mass Vs Class… Always a treat to watch this combination for any cricket lover and definitely for me too…Dravid won the Toss and decided to Bat first, A simple one liner was the royals batting, Just Watson show all the way, Showed no mercy to any bowler ad he hardly worried about what length or line they bowled, Sheer display of Watto Powerhouse which allowed him to go past first century mark in this season of IPL. Binny and other Rajasthan players played around him to get to a score of 185 runs in 20 overs.

Chasing 185+ is always tough for any team and if one team could do with ease then it has to be CSK with the kind of batting line up they have, Only problem for them is Raina & Badrinath have not come to form yet. But it gave an opportunity today to the Later to get back his golden knick with bat, who scored his first six in this season IPL & first fifty of this season. Raina also empowered Hussey all the way who looked aggressive right from the word go and always kept the required run rate under control. At one stage when Dravid pulled a stunning run out & wickets of Jadeja + Dhoni trickled a small confusion in the CSK dugout, but Bravo ensured to clear the ropes comfortably once in the last over to get past the win line in style with a ball to spare…

Chennai Super Kings won the match by 5 wickets with 1 ball to spare…

Interesting Stats IPL 6 Day 20:

– Shane Watson scored the first century of this season of IPL; it is also the 25th century for IPL tournament in all seasons.

– Watson’s 101 runs over shined Shewag’s 95* for the highest score for this season.

– Shane Watson’s Century is also the fourth one for a Rajasthan Royal Player.

– Out of 7 innings Murali Vijay is out for a single digit in 4 of them.

– 58 runs scored by CSK in the powerplay overs is the highest for them in this season.

– This season has been made to wait longest to get the first century (30 matches), previous season was the slowest which took 18 matches.

– This is the first time Rajasthan Royals have lost a match when they have scored more than 162 runs, their record stands 15 – 0 till today, as now it will be rewritten as 15-1.

– Suresh Raina scored his 15th IPL fifty and also his first six for this season.

– Chennai has chased 5 times (including today) the score anything above 185+ and lost 3 times.

– Ravindra Jadeja scored his 3rd IPL duck and first as a Chennai Super King.

– 49 runs conceded by Kevon Cooper is the highest in any T20 international game.

– This is fourth time in IPL out of 25 occasions an IPL century has ended up in a losing side, previous century scorer are Symonds, Yusuf Pathan, Tendulkar & now Watson.

– Michael Hussey became the second player after Virat Kohli to breach 300 runs mark for this season.

– Both 185 runs target set yesterday by PWI and today by RR are achieved by chasing team exactly in the penultimate ball of the match, this is also the second match for CSK to win a game with just a ball to spare.

IPL 6: Day 13–Steven Smith continues to remain a throne in CSK’s Flesh…

April 15, 2013 at 11:50 pm (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi..

Just when everyone thought Pune are walking dead, when they stepped into Chepauk. Even Ross Taylor at toss said, we don’t have anything to loss. That’s the mind set which gave them the much needed or to say much deserved Victory in Lion’s den.

Pune started off in a empathic fashion, not like their usual way, they loss wickets in heap, Finch scored a much need fifty, Steven smith who was warming the bench got a chance as Mathews was forcefully rested due to Srilankan ban in Chennai. Smith still remained in the form he left over from the last season where he scored 44 from 22 balls, today he scored 39 runs of 16 balls, who also reverse swept Chris Morris for a big six. In the end Pune scored 159 runs in 20 overs. Chennai was a bit different side even after having 5 batsmen and 4 all rounders, CSK failed to accelerate at any point of the game, when ever they tried Wicket haunted back them. Which eventually meant Pune are back in winnings ways, Will it continue…? That’s the only big question….

Pune Warriors India won the match by 24 runs…

Interesting Stats IPL 6 Day 13:

– In Today’s match CSK didn’t have even a single overseas player to occupy the top 5 slot (M.Vijay, Anirutha Srikanth, S.Raina, R.Jadeja & MS.Dhoni)

– This is 15th time a match started off with a wicket Maiden.

– Bhuvaneshwar Kumar bowled the 9th maiden of this season.

– This is second time Anirutha srikanth has opened the innings and out for a duck.

– 42 runs conceded by Dirk Nannes is the second highest in IPL career, highest is against KKR conceding 49 runs in 2009.

– Steven smith in his 15 IPL innings has gone past 10 runs 14 occasions.

– 135 runs CSK is the fourth lowest total in IPL, and ironically all the other three times they have scored 112 runs.

– 8-6 is the Win-Loss combination for CSK when they chase in Chepauk, not at their best.

– A Loss by 24 runs is the third heaviest loss for CSK in terms of runs, on the contrary 24 runs victory is the second biggest win for Pune Warriors.

At the end of DAY 13 in IPL 6:

Total no. of Boundaries – 497

Total no. of Sixes – 144

Longest Six – 106 Meters by Chris Gayle (SRH)

Most no. of Fours – Virat Kohli (26) followed by Dinesh Karthik (25)

IPL 6: Day 11–Rohit & Sir Jadeja share the Honours for the day…

April 14, 2013 at 2:04 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi…

Double header day, One on the duller side and other compensating more than what you have asked for…

PWI may have broken their 11 match losing streak, but didn’t seem to get the hang of winning spirit, as Mumbai made a cake walk first with the Bat, as the Little Master started of in flourish, Dinesh Karthik made the amends in middle and Rohit finished off with a Blast to make sure Mumbai scored 183 runs in 20 overs. As the scene of PWI batting this season, carnage continued from the very first ball and finally PWI made sure Mumbai Won the match big to boost their Net run rate.

Mumbai Indians won the match by 41 runs…

South Indian Derby, Last year both this teams gave a game of all the IPL seasons where over 400 runs amassed in space of 240 balls. Today in Chepauk, Its never the less another Nail biting thriller runs scored between them may be less but not for the thrilling finish. RCB with help of Kohli and AB helped RCB to come out from a slow start and posted a competitive score of 165 runs. Chennai got off to a disastrous start by losing its openers very cheaply. Badrinath and Raina steadied the middle innings, Later Dhoni & Jadeja kept CSK always in the hunt, When 29 needed of last two overs and Dhoni walking back to pavilion edging the ball outside off meant CSK is down & out. But Sir Jadeja pulled the rabbit out hat to pull off a stunner.

Chennai Super Kings won the match by 4 Wickets with 1 ball to spare…

IPL 5: Day 30 – Men in Yellow Make Merry in Madras…

May 5, 2012 at 12:33 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2012, IPL 5) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi all,

Match 46:

Chennai Super Kings Vs Deccan Chargers

A Must win game for the Champions to stay in contention, With points table being tightly packed, every game for every one is important. Not the same for the opposition as they already qualified for the party spoilers list, however two back to back wins, will boost their confidence and will look it to make it three in a row.

Dhoni won the coin and decided to bat first, typical Chennai wicket, can’t expect anything else from the captain winning the toss. Chennai dropped Hussey for Ben Hilfenhaus and Saha made way for Vijay, who opened the innings with in form opener Faf, Just when Murali vijay was looking good, thrown his wicket away for 14. Raina joined faf to rotate the strike and clear fences quite sometimes as well, as they got 64 runs between two. Dhoni who didn’t impress much played a handy knock and Bravo finished with a flourish as CSK ended with 160 runs on board. DC bowled well to keep CSK at this score as they looked for much more in the half way time.

Again a early blow for DC as they lost Parthiv Patel for 1, where the score was 9/1 in 2 overs, it should have been easily 9/2 if Albie haven’t spilled a return catch from White. Dhawan along with White made sure run rate was under control and played around CSK bowlers very well. Until Bravo found a bizzare way of getting Dhawan out after he booted a tough catch to runners end stumps to find Dhawan out of crease. Tha man with golden arm Raina this time turned gold again as he plucked Sangakarra with a brilliant return on handed catch. Game was gone by then, White tried his level best bring DC back, once he fell short of gas while trying to get a second to keep strike. Its all done. As CSK won the match by 10 runs.

Chennai Super Kings won the match by 10 runs….
