IPL 6: Day 45– Amit Mishra helps Sunriser’s to set one foot on Playoff’s…

May 17, 2013 at 11:39 pm (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi..

Been a gap in the IPL updates, heavy travel, troubled heath kept me away from the updates for a while. Happy to be back…

A very important game for Sunrisers to keep them in the hunt of Playoff’s position. Cameron white won the toss and decided to Bat first, and he would have thought a dreadful start even in dreams as SRH lost Dhawan, Parthiv & Cameron White for just 5 on the board. Vihari along with Samantray steadied a bit, before going for a skier. Sammy joined Samantray and scored very important 56 runs between them, Late strike from Perara made sure Sunrisers scored 136/9 in 20 overs. Bowling star was Faulkner who picked up his second 5 wickets haul against Sunrisers for the second time for this season. Chasing 130+ was never easy in the Hyderabad pitch and it proved to be again. Dravid had a good opening but apart from him everyone else struggled in the pitch. No one from Rajasthan got going, last minute rush from Kevon Cooper made sure Royals didn’t lose it big. In end Royals were strangled at 113/9 in 20 overs.  A Spell of 4-0-8-2 from Amit Mishra which proved too much for Royals in the end.

Sun Risers Hyderabad won the match by 23 runs…

Standings as on DAY 45:

IPL 6: Day 23–Captain Cool does it again & again & again for CSK…

April 26, 2013 at 12:41 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi…

Its a typical CSK screenplay written game for Chennai Ground. Opposition has a bad start, then in the death CSK bowlers will lose the plot to concede more runs in  last, then CSK follows up with a blistering opening partnership, Few quite overs and fall of wickets at wrong time, take the required run rate up to 12 runs per over possible even higher, then as always there will be Captain Cool who will finish the match in the last over with a hit to fence.

Nothing much changed, Sunrisers got to a poor start as they were 61/4 in 10 overs, then late surge by Dhawan & Ashish Reddy made sure SRH scored 159/6 in 20 overs. CSK with the help of Hussey & Vijay got a start of 65 runs in 7 overs. Then came the quite overs and fall of wickets of Hussey, Raina & Bravo. Required run rate was close to 12 runs when Bravo was out, As per the script Dhoni stayed till the end to finish the match with a six & followed it by couple of boundaries to win the match for CSK.

Chennai Super Kings won the match by 5 wickets with 2 balls to spare…

Interesting Stats IPL 6 Day 23:

– Karan Sharma’s spell of 4-1-8-0 is the most economical spell bowled for this season.

– Karan Sharma bowled the 18th Maiden of this season.

– Raina became the first batsmen to score 1000 runs in their Home ground (Chennai), Gayle has 968 runs in Bangalore.

– 65 runs partnership between Vijay & Hussey is the tenth time this pair has gone past 50 runs partnership, joint highest with Gayle & Kohli.

– 58 runs scored in power play overs by CSK is the joint highest for them this season, they scored same numbers against RR.

– MSD scored his 11th IPL Fifty and also gone past 2000 runs in his IPL career.

– This is the first time Dwayne Bravo dismissed Darren Sammy in a T20 international.

– 59 runs scored by SRH in the last four is the highest ever for them in IPL career.

– Two boundaries scored of Ashwin’s last over is the first of the kind for this season for him.

– It is fifth time Dhoni has finished an innings on the wining note out of 6 times he has remained not out while chasing in IPL career.

– With 3 wickets to his name to Amit Mishra, Now he is the joint highest wicket taker with Malinga with 88 wickets to name.

– Three sixes conceded by Steyn in his 4 overs is the first time in IPL career.

– 1-45 by Dales Steyn is the second most expensive spell in IPL, and 4th in his T20 career.

– Out of 6 games Chennai have won, 4 have been completed in the last over.

– Dwayne Bravo picked up his 10th Catch for this season highest by any player in IPL 6, followed by Ashish Reddy with 7.

– There was an incident, Where 8 runs required of 4 balls and Ashish Reddy bowled a wayward delivery which went for a wide boundary, that’s what umpire said so. But Dhoni straightaway went up to him and said, he nicked the ball, then umpire turned down his wide signal and gave it as four runs of the bat. Captain cool certainly earned some points in Fairplay for his team.

IPL 4: DAY 44 Review…

May 22, 2011 at 2:16 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2011, IPL 4) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi Guys,

Match 67, Gilly need to win 5 games out of 5 to in the playoff’s he crossed 4 successfully and he needed just one more to go past for the playoff’s. He won the toss and decided to field first, idea should have been to dismiss Deccan’s cheaply and score the run in quick pace to up the run rate. But what happened was quite opposite as DC’s found form in no time to pull KXIP in the back foot. To say they got themselves to blame, as they even dropped the sitters, not once or twice, almost five catches were put down in their innings and i didn’t count the missed run out chances. Dhawan rode on luck to get to his first half century, well supported by Ravi Teja. Finally Deccan’s finished with 198/2 in 20 overs, their ever highest against KXIP in all seasons. Must win situation, 10 runs required per over, u expect a fight back from the home team, having put in the blood and sweat to win the other 4 games, but it wasn’t the case again as KXIP batsmen showed no responsibility apart from Gilly, who scored his 9th IPL fifty, just before departing. Amit Mishra a happy bowler who picked up the first Hattrick of the season to delight Deccan’s. As KXIP bowled out for 116 in 19 overs. Deccan’s won the match y 82 runs, their highest ever winning margin in IPL so far.

Match 68, Dada’s last match for this season, apart from 32 and 18, he was also a victim of duck. so he has the last chance to say what he his. But Rain god’s seems to have no idea in watching this dead rubber, so ruled out the match when Delhi were 56/3 in 10 overs. So Sorry Dada, May be next season u can show off more…

Standings as on DAY 44:

image

So with KXIP losing, Its now official that top four teams featuring in the list will be playing the playoff’s irrespective of tomorrow’s results.

– Out of 6 wins for Deccan’s 5 came batting first and 1 came in chasing.
