IPL 6: Day 52 Qualifier–Bhajji puts Mumbai back in finals for the second time…

May 25, 2013 at 1:36 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi…

Just two games left for this season of IPL, and one is here today, Qualifier 2 between Underdogs Rajasthan taking on Mighty Mumbai Indians. Mumbai missing out against CSK will have a second chance to make it to finals, spirited Royals will look to make to the finals for the second time in their IPL career.

Qualifier 2, Dravid won the toss and decided to bat first, as always Dravid & Rahane gave a decent start of 44 runs for the first wicket before Rahane sweeps one between legs of Harbhajan to be castled. Quick two wicket in 8th & 9th over pushed Royals back, Dravid & Binny struck for a brief moment before Dravid was out to a loose shot off Bhajji again. However Yagnik & Hodge again propelled royals to a good score of 165 with some innovative shots. Bhajji was the star for Mumbai as he picked three crucial wickets & two important catches to add.

Needing 166 to win, Mumbai got off to a best start you could ask for, both Tare & destructive smith put on 70 runs in 9 overs. Later was dismissed off copper for 35. Karthik tied ends with Smith to continue the chase. Sudden surge of wickets gave Dravid’s Men a thin line of hope but Rayudu held his nerve to score 15 runs of penultimate over from Cooper, which almost sealed the game for Mumbai. However Rishi Dhawan first ball paddle sweep made it sure that Mumbai will face Chennai for the second time in IPL finals. Will it be Chennai again or Mighty Mumbai will lift the cup for the first ever time…? Answer has to be awaited till Sunday…

Mumbai Indians won the match 4 wickets with 1 ball to spare…

IPL 6: Day 37–Cooper’s Slower delivery & Gambhir’s late fifty highlights the day…

May 10, 2013 at 12:37 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi…

A very important game for three side to be in playoff’s on a double header day.

Game 1, KXIP took on Royals, both needing a win, especially KXIP. Dravid won the coin and decided to field first as he always wanted to be. KXIP lost Mandeep Singh in the very first over, which meant Skipper Gilly who is back in the side has to put down his natural game and has to consolidate with his country man Marsh. That’s what happened as both put on a century stand but in 13 overs, not very much likely for a destructive pair. None other than these were worth mentioning as KXIP ended less than par score of 145/6 in 20 overs. Cooper picked a 3/23 in 4 overs. Dravid went early with just 5 runs on the board, But Rahane & Watson continued their good form to build a platform of 66 runs between which allowed Sanju samson along with Rahane to finish the match with an over to spare. This win also means Royals are almost into playoff, provided some one doesn’t play a bluff.

Rajasthan Royals won the match 8 wickets with 6 balls to spare…

Game 2, KKR needed a win just to keep their mathematical hope alive as KXIP lost the previous match. Skipper Gambhir finally played a more sensible innings along with Ten Doeschate to keep KKR scoreboard moving Late strike from Bhatia & Tiwary made sure KKR crossed 150, as they ended 152/6 in 20 overs. As usual Pune continued to display a poor & pathetic performance with bat. Uthappa & Mathews scored couple of 30’s apart from that nothing to highlight in the Pune’s batting card.

Kolkata Knight Riders won the match by 46 runs…

Standings as on DAY 37:

Interesting Stats IPL 6 Day 37:

– 40 runs scored by Matthews is the highest for this season.

– Pune has never won a game against KKR, stat is 4-0 including today.

– Rajasthan royals won their 7th game in straight while chasing.

– Rahane scored 4th IPL fifty of this season and 10th overall in his IPL career.

– Chawla has picked Watson thrice including today, highest by any bowler in IPL.

– 102 runs between Gilly & Marsh is the third century partnership for this season for KXIP and it is also the slowest of all three.

– PWI have lost their 11th game for this season.

At the end of DAY 37 in IPL 6:

Total no. of Boundaries – 1527

Hi…

I never thought I would write the top heading for this season, that what it looked like, it was just time before KKR team would have decided to make Hard hitting Yusuf Pathan sit in bench but it was not to be.

Defending Champions need to win all their remaining games to qualify for Play off. Royals won the toss and decided to Bat first, a slow start but strange & bizarre tactics fro Dravid kept the runs in bay and wickets kept on falling without anyone consolidating the fall. Dravid coming at no.8 didn’t help any cause. KKR also bowled well and kept the pressure always. Royals trying to defend 133 runs, started off well by picking 2 quick wickets but that it, Both Kallis & Yusuf Pathan ensured they crossed the line without any more fuss. Pathan got almost close a Half century and missed by a run, when Kallis struck a boundary when team need 3 runs of 18 balls.

Kolkata Knight Riders won the match by 8 wickets with 16 balls to spare…

Standings as on DAY 31:

image

Interesting Stats IPL 6 Day 31:

– Dravid batting at the 8th position today is the first time in his IPL career.

– Bisla scored the 400th six for this season.

– Rajasthan have never won a match scoring less than 135 runs, now the wack record stands 12-0.

HI…

Just a game today, Not much fuss about it though, Both the teams hovering around in the middle and bottom of the table trying to fight their way out of threshold. KXIP started much better for the first time in this season, Gilly looked like he was striking form before he was dismissed. Mandeep, Vohra, Hussey & in the last Gurukreet played their part as well with one last good over by Gurukreet made sure, KXIP finished at 149/ in 20 overs. KKR started off in a shacky fashion as they lost inform Skipper and out of form Yusuf in the very next deliveries n the 2nd over. But its again the old veteran Kallis who stayed along with Bisla to made sure he had a 60 runs partnership to bring the innings in  track, later Kallis departed but quick fire Morgan ensure momentum was kept with the required run rate to help KKR safely pass through the winning line.

In came the Bday boy along with Dwayne Smith for the chase, but to all disappointment he went back for just 2 runs seeing his middle stumps rooted by a vicious turner from Sunil Narine. Dwayne kept the runrate in check with lusty blows here & then. IPL 6: Day 18–Sir “RJ’s” Roar & Vinay’s breeze soothe the day…

April 20, 2013 at 11:42 pm (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi…

Weekend and you get a double header… Yes, when everyone looking over 150’s & 160’s, Just as Ravi Shastri says in air, Just what the doctor ordered for the day is score of 120’s it is…

KKR took on CSK who was looking well set, Gambhir won the coin and decided to Bat first, started off well infact as they brought a surprise element of Yusuf Pathan opening with Gambhir, not a bad ploy as they got to a partnership of 46 runs, before young Hussey halted the process with a stunner in third man. Followed some sign of madness from KKR and sheer brilliance in fielding from CSK to struck a killer blow in KKR to end up with 119/9 in 20 overs. Where they were 46/1 in 5.5 overs, 73 runs from 85 balls later bowled. Just as KKR surprised, CSK surprised with a new opener Ravi Ashwin in front, Innovation is fine, but Batting innovation from CSK mates were not quite enough to pull the game easily from KKR. Not to leave KKR also bowled well and picked important wickets at right time. As always no worries as SIR RJ is in the team, as he finished the game with a well composed innings of 36 from 14 balls. He also with ball picked 3 wickets and had two catches while fielding. Can u just take him out of the game…?

Chennai Super Kings won the match by 4 wickets with 5 balls to spare…

Another game, Homecoming for Rajasthan Skipper Dravid still he would liked a win for his team, But Rajasthan were simply outplayed in all department, except for some part where Binny & Dravid played some good innings between them, Royals had nothing to cheer about as they ended just  one run lesser than KKR scored in the first game. 118/9 in 20 overs.  Easy Chase for a team with the like’s of Gayle,Kohli & ABD, Lost two of those mentioned names cheaply but Man in front lead with a sensible knock to go past the winning line. Vinay Kumar picked 3 important wickets to pick the MOM award.

Royal Challengers Bangalore won the match by 7 wickets with 13 balls to spare…

Interesting Stats IPL 6 Day 18:

– Ravi Ashwin & Ravi Rampaul bowled the 13th & 14th Maiden of IPL 6, and ironically both are Wicket Maidens.

– This is the first time Ashwin has opened a innings in a IPL game, the highest order of batting previously was in the position of No.7.

– 11 runs scored by Ashwin equalled his best score in IPL career.

– 47 balls between 7.5 to 15.5 overs, CSK had not scored a boundary, highest by any other team in this season of IPL.

– 70 runs scored by CSK in 15 overs is the lowest score they have made in this season so far.

– It is 4th time CSK Skipper Dhoni was Run Out in his 73 games for CSK.

– CSK have never lost a game when they were chasing anything less than 120 runs, and in fact this is 3rd time.

– 119 runs by KKR is the lowest for them this season, which just below 125 which they scored against SRH.

– This is first time in T20 career Kallis is out for a Diamond Duck (which means out without facing even a single ball, mostly Run outs).

– KKR have never won a game in Kolkata against CSK, now the record stands 5-0.

– Ajit Chandila scored his first runs in IPL career.

– Both KKR & RR started the match with a boundary of the very first ball of the match, and ironically both ended up scoring less than 120.

– Shane Watson bowled his first over in 2013 in any format, and to his joy, he picked Dilshan edging to keeper in the fourth ball of the same over.

– This is the first time Gayle has gone past 40 run mark without even hitting a single Six.

At the end of DAY 18 in IPL 6:

Switching to Jaipur Sawai Mansingh Stadium so called fortress of Royals remained intact even after the game, As Kings XI failed to breach the Wall… A Low Scoring match, as Punjab was bowled out in 18.4 overs for meagre 124 runs, which gave Royals enough time to chase through even after a blistering start from Watson, Royals kept the hunt alive till 19.2 overs and finally crossed the line to get themselves to 3rd place in the table.

April 11, 2013 at 11:42 pm (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi…

Gaylestrom again struck in Bangalore Chinnasamy stadium as RCB trounced KKR in their home ground. KKR rode on their Skipper’s half century and some added support from Yusuf & Tiwary made sure KKR scored 154/8 in 20 overs. Second half almost a one man show as always Gayle found almost every nook and corner of the ground to send the ball. 85 from 50 balls made sure Bangalore crossed the line with enough time.

Royal Challengers Bangalore won the match by 8 Wickets with 15 balls to spare…

Rajasthan Royals got off to a decent start thanks to ever dependable Wall, who yet again scored a 50. But not much support from other end and wickets at wrong time made sure they made just 145/5 in 20 overs. If its Gayle for RCB, then replica is called Aaron Finch who turned topsy turvy PWI opening slot to power slot. Well aided by Uthappa & Yuvi to finish the game and put an end to their 11 match losing streak.

Pune Warriors India won the match by 7 Wickets with 8 balls to spare…

April 11, 2011 at 11:42 pm (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2011, IPL 4) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi Guys,

Match 6 Review:
Deccan Chargers Vs Kolkata Knight Riders

Having lost their opening games, Both teams will look to make de debut in points table. Gambhir won the toss and decided to bat first in front of the home crowd, As always Kallis got of to a decent start along with Bisla. Later Gambhir came back to original position of No.3 and continued the platform laid, As it went on Kallis got yet another 50 of this season. All chipped in right time and score rose to 163 in 20 overs. Bowling except from Amit Mishra, who had a good purchase of spin and bowled brilliantly.

KKR 163/4 in 20 overs.
J.Kallis 53      M.Tiwary 30*
A.Mishra  2/19       D.Steyn 1/33
DC 154/8 in 20 overs.
B.Chipli 48         D.Christian 25
I.Abdulla 3/24      R.Bhatia 2/29

KKR WON THE MATCH BY 9 RUNS.

Having faltered in chasing already against Chennai, Deccan’s will took set it right, But it wasn’t the case they lost their openers cheaply, and Sanga didn’t;t make much impression Chipli and Dan Christian tried to pull rabbit out of the hat, but unfortunately it was stuck so hard, late blows from lower order just reduced the margin in losing cause.

With this win Sharukh was all smiles and very happy to pick his first win of this season in his home ground, ant KKR moves to 5th Position with this victory.

IPL 4– 2011 is Back… Cricketainment is Back….

April 9, 2011 at 12:17 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2011, IPL 4) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi Guys,

What to say, Even before the frenzy of Winning the world cup could get over, We have capsule of excitement IPL 4 in the action… This year is its much more bigger with two more teams added to the league. Pune and Kochi gonna be the openers for this season, so its 10 teams locking horns for the premium…

With the gr8 start of opening ceremony, closed with Sharukh Khan dancing for Tamil Numbers and speaking kiddish Tamil to entertain Chennai crowd… And thus the things got started off with bright colours…

Match 1:
Chennai Super Kings Vs Kolkata Knight Riders

Its Time for Cricket, and Captain Fantastic who is also the defending champion won the coin and decided to bat first, in a track which will help out both batsmen and bowlers. Kolkata got the new look, with new captain, more new players overall, KKR will be hoping for a much better performance this year. On the other side, Dhoni will be much more comfortable has he got back his team almost just like the same he had three years back, with very few minuscule.

Murali Vijay started the things of IPL 4 with a boundary and followed back to pavilion in the very next ball trying the same, Anirutha Srikanth who replaced Haydos as the opener played well to score his and first IPL 4 half century, Not to forget 3 reprieves from KKR’s  esp 2 from the very same 2 million dollar man Yusuf Pathan. Dhoni back with a world cup winning knock seemed in good touch before Kallis produced a gem of a slower bouncer to get rid of him. Some very good depth bowling by Balaji and Kallis kept CSK from scoring runs and they finally ended up just passing 150 runs with two lusty blows in the last 2 balls by Albie Morkel. Without doubt KKR looked weak in the bowling but they some how got thru it, with very few and i may not miss out the sloppy work in the fields.

CSK 153/4 in 20 overs.
Anirutha Srikanth 64     S.Raina 33
Y.Pathan 1/19     J.Kallis 2/34
KKR 151/7 in 20 overs.
Jacques Kallis 54     M.Bisla 27
R.Ashwin 1/26         S.Raina 1/3

CSK WON MATCH BY 2 RUNS.

In a pitch that may assist the spinners in the late, Kallis and Bisla started the things with gr8 flourish as they scored like chasing something around 180-200. Kallis was steady as like ever, very much sound in the classy style of batting, No vague or innovative T20 shots. Score raced up to 60/0 in 8 overs and Dhoni was running out of sorts, just when Jakathi got one to spun away and dhoni mad no mistakes in removing bails in flash, Pathan ahead of Gambhir looked threatening but Captain removed him with the brilliant runout. Needing 43 of 30 balls its the game for KKR to lose it, and they went on to progress as Kallis went on to score his first fifty of this season before falling to Ashwin who gave away to a poor T20 paddle sweep. And as u always say after strategic time out, You ll have wickets and this time its double, and give credit to Dhoni as he gave the ball to his golden arm bowler Raina to remove Morgan of a smart ball and Gambhir of a very very poor running, without doubt Gambhir had a worst day out, demoted himself to slot 6 and managed to score just a single. From then it CSK, But just before u cud write off, Tiwary pulled couple of Sixes of Randiv and falling in the last ball leaving 9 needed of last over of Tim Southee. Tim holded the nerve and bowled 3 last balls yorkers to keep the over for just 6 runs and a wicket. CSK lost the game but the failed to die and just bcos of that they win this game… Don’t Miss out guys this tournament had got off to a gr8 start u cud ever imagine….

Can u believe Albie Morkel scored 10 runs of the last two balls, if not for those game cud have brought smiles in the Sharukh’s face…Smile
