IPL 6: Wright’s last rites & Parthiv’s fab puts SRH in playoff’s…

May 19, 2013 at 11:40 pm (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi..

Last two league games of this season of IPL 6. Both are important in their own ways, One game will decide who is going to be the wooden spooners and the other to decided the final entrant for the playoff’s.

Game 1, Who will be the wooden spooner’s…? Delhi or Pune, both lock horn for the one last time for this season. Finch won the toss and decided to bat first, Uthappa departed early but skipper stayed for bit more long to get himself a fifty in 34 balls. How ever star was Luke wright who gave the electric finish to sedated Pune’s innings with 23 ball 44 runs. Pune finished with their best home score 172/5 in 20 overs.  What to write about Delhi’s batting except for one thing, that they definitely played like a team who is going out with a wooden spoon. Dismal and sad effort from a prolific batting composition. Pathan & Gautam played for some time to improve their career runs. In the end Delhi finished at 134/9 in 20 overs.

Pune Warriors India won the match by 38 runs…

Game 2, Last league game and a very important game as to decide the final team to enter the playoff’s. Sunrisers need to win to enter the playoff’s, if they lose RCB will sneak through for the eliminator match against Rajasthan. Gambhir won the toss and decided to bat first, both Bisla & Gambhir started off very slowly and it continued to be the trend as they never got going even at the latter stages Yusuf pathan once again played a handy knock of 49 runs of 29 balls to get a decent score of 130/7 in 20 overs. Sunrisers on the other hand started off blazing with Parthiv & Dhawan both firing in their ends. A good partnership of 89 runs came to end with a needless reverse sweep from Dhawan. Suddenly panic button was pressed in SRH camp as they lost other 3 wickets on a trot. Sammy’s playing out a maiden of Narine & Perara yorked by Shami Ahmed made even more tensed game for SRH. However T20 wold cup winning captain Darren Sammy made sure the win came from two consecutive sixes of Iqbal Abdulla to make Sunrisers to get into Playoff’s in their very first season.

Sun Risers Hyderabad won the match by 5 wickets with 7 balls to spare…

IPL 6: Day 37–Cooper’s Slower delivery & Gambhir’s late fifty highlights the day…

May 10, 2013 at 12:37 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi…

A very important game for three side to be in playoff’s on a double header day.

Game 1, KXIP took on Royals, both needing a win, especially KXIP. Dravid won the coin and decided to field first as he always wanted to be. KXIP lost Mandeep Singh in the very first over, which meant Skipper Gilly who is back in the side has to put down his natural game and has to consolidate with his country man Marsh. That’s what happened as both put on a century stand but in 13 overs, not very much likely for a destructive pair. None other than these were worth mentioning as KXIP ended less than par score of 145/6 in 20 overs. Cooper picked a 3/23 in 4 overs. Dravid went early with just 5 runs on the board, But Rahane & Watson continued their good form to build a platform of 66 runs between which allowed Sanju samson along with Rahane to finish the match with an over to spare. This win also means Royals are almost into playoff, provided some one doesn’t play a bluff.

Rajasthan Royals won the match 8 wickets with 6 balls to spare…

Game 2, KKR needed a win just to keep their mathematical hope alive as KXIP lost the previous match. Skipper Gambhir finally played a more sensible innings along with Ten Doeschate to keep KKR scoreboard moving Late strike from Bhatia & Tiwary made sure KKR crossed 150, as they ended 152/6 in 20 overs. As usual Pune continued to display a poor & pathetic performance with bat. Uthappa & Mathews scored couple of 30’s apart from that nothing to highlight in the Pune’s batting card.

Kolkata Knight Riders won the match by 46 runs…

Standings as on DAY 37:

image

Interesting Stats IPL 6 Day 37:

– Pune has never won a game against KKR, stat is 4-0 including today.

Hi…

Game 1, Table topper CSK take on Mumbai, in Mumbai. Sachin & Smith started off slowly in a two paced wicket, Good bowling from CSK always kept Mumbai under control and picked wickets at regular intervals. Late surge from Rohit sharma & Harbhajan gave Mumbai a decent total of 139/5 in 20 overs. It looked like a easy chase for CSK who were on a roll, but it wasn’t to be even after Pollard dropping thrice Michael Hussey in the three consecutive balls of the first over. Johnson came back in his second over and picked three important wickets to put CSK under pressure. However CSK failed to rise from the slump and dived deeper as they tried to rescue. At one point they were probable of even posting the lowest ever IPL score 58 runs, but somehow got out and ended on 79 all out with almost 28 balls to spare.

Mumbai Indians won the match by 60 runs…

Game 2, Royals host Pune this time very important game for royals as they the mid table crisis heats up after every game. Uthappa continued from the last game, played some sublime strokes through off side. Finch well supported him to get 97 runs opening partnership. Marsh & Matthews made sure the opening stand score is justified with a good finish as PWI ended 178/4 in 20 overs. Needing almost 9 runs an over Dravid opened with Rahane, in fact both a gave a treat to cricket lovers by playing classical cover drives, Straight drive, Lofted straight sixes. It was romance between Bat & Ball and everyone enjoyed to core. However as both departed quickly and the followed foreigners wasn’t able to do what they should but It was Sanju Samson & Stuart Binny who helped Royals cross the line with a ball to spare.

IPL 6: Day 30–Raina’s Century & ABD’s blitzkrieg sums up…

May 3, 2013 at 12:29 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi..

Certainly its Midweek Madness as IPL  is going crazy by having third double header on a week on this same week.

Game 1, CSK in the form of their life met KXIP in their den, Saha & Hussey pair started the innings from the place where they left, As both departed bit earlier today than expected and Dhoni went for a non existent second run to leave the crease very early. So it was another Super Kings day to step up the scoring shoes and it was none other than IPL top scorer Suresh Raina, who did in style with a Century the only record missing in his IPL career resume. Shacky start by KXIP losing David hussey bit quick didn’t help them either. But Shaun Marsh & David Miller struck a partnership between them and got the important runs at crucial junctures and kept the chase always on till the last 6 balls bowled, Dwayne Bravo just made the important difference between both sides by just bowling the last over for just 3 runs and picking 3 wickets. CSK continue to roar in their den.

Chennai Super Kings won the match by 15 runs…

Game 2, not much fancied one as of now, Pune hosting RCB, Yes, What you think is right, this is the team which Gayle torn into pieces and went on to make record books re written. RCB won the toss and went on to pile up the runs in gradual pace today because Gayle has to depart bit early. However it is, in the end its ABD who stole the show and game from Pune Warriors India, by picking 26 runs in the last over bowled by Dinda. PWI as always started of by losing wickets in regular intervals, but for one change Robin Uthappa played a matured and classy knock but it was a lone battle waged which was too much and in the end Pune fell short. Giving RCB the much needed first away for this season.

Royal Challengers Bangalore won the match by 17 runs…

IPL 6: Day 26–Its Mr.Cricket for CSK & Warner for Delhi…

April 28, 2013 at 11:58 pm (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi all,

Double header to kill the time in a Sunday…

First Game, Game of heavyweight’s Chennai taking on Kolkata, Gambhir won the coin and strangely decided to field first, Which helped Dhoni & Men to salve themselves from the scorching sun and make KKR pay for their mistake. Mr Cricket does it again & again for CSK. Today with another breath taking 95 runs in sapping conditions, well supported first by Saha (who got the chance because Vijay is injured) then later by Raina. As always Dhoni finished up the innings in style to post their highest score for the season. CSK ended up with mammoth 200/3 in 20 overs. Chasing almost 10 runs an over, KKR got a delicious first over from rusty Nannes who gave 14 runs away as freebies, not only that today, CSK totally looked awkward in fielding & bowling except for one or two overs. Thanks they had enough runs on the board to save themselves from the mistakes. Bisla’s monumental effort almost gave KKR the victory before Huss Monster shacked the stumps to break the hopes of KKR. A good last over from Morris ensured CSK won the match finally. They chase or defend, it doesn’t count, one thing for sure is Last over & tense moments, where CSK will emerge victorious.

Chennai Super Kings won the match by 14 runs…

Second game battle for wooden spooner’s as the last two team in the table fight out their last position to rise over the above. Everyone of the Delhi batsmen had a start but as it was the case in the tournament, failed to convert it, And again Warner played a important knock of 51 from 25 balls to put Delhi at a comfortable zone of 164/5 in 20 overs. Pune started off well, thanks to poor fielding efforts from Delhi, Finch & Uthappa made 37 runs each before getting dismissed in the same over, which opened the back door Delhi and they started sneaking past slowly & steadily, Luke Wright also helped their course with poor batting. Finally Delhi just moved up the ladder a touch up to end up at 8th position in the Standing list.

Delhi Daredevils won the match by 15 runs…

With Tournament almost half way through, from now on it becomes necessary to keep a note on Standings, So here they are…

IPL 6: Day 19–Shewag & Miller deliver Killer Blows…

April 22, 2013 at 12:26 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi..

Double Header Sunday, Two important games for four teams involved…

First Game, Delhi take on Mumbai, Later yet to register themselves in the point table, having lost 6 games in a trot, certainly needed a turn around, if they have any thought of Play offs. Mumbai won the toss and decided to bat first, another change in opening partnership where Dwayne Smith walked out with Sachin, but later failed to deliver, followed a straight drive from Sachin and tickle from Umesh to see Dinesh Karthik’s back as he was backing up too far. Both Rohit & Sachin up the antics to stick a partnership 96 runs between them and few lusty blows from Pollard ensured Mumbai scored 161 in 20 overs. Delhi came out with a piece of advise from the Calypso legend Viv Richards who has joined as the mentor. Oh… Man… Now the whole world want to know what Viv has said…  Both Shewag & Jayawardene came out all guns blazing and smoked Mumbai Indians bowling and stitched the highest partnership for this season to win it all hands down with 18 balls to spare. Where was this Delhi hiding all this days….? Man from Caribbean came to woke up the tigers i guess…

Delhi Daredevils won the match by 9 wickets with 18 balls to spare…

Second Game, Where most would not be interested PWI Vs KXIP, all would have expected a low scoring affair and not a big game of cricket. But to all surprise came the highest scoring game of this season. For the first time this season Batsmen have called the shots and not the bowlers. For Pune it was Uthappa, Finch, Yuvaraj & Luke Wright who massacred the KXIP bowlers and scored 185 runs. Later KXIP in chase looked almost out when they lost Skipper Gilly & Azhar Mahmood in the space of 7 balls, leaving 5/2 in 1.1 overs. Manan Vohra came together with Mandeep Singh to get a fifty partnership before throwing his wicket away, But David Miller 80*(41) made sure his gritty knock doesn’t go vain as he and Mandeep Singh 77*(58) scored the winning runs in the penultimate ball to clinch a thriller…

Kings XI Punjab won the match by 7 wickets with 1 ball to spare…
