IPL 6: Day 46–Azhar’s Heroics & Kohli’s Aggression for the day…

May 19, 2013 at 1:05 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi…

Game 1, Last game in cricket field for the Australian Wicket keeping legend Gilchrist. Rohit won the toss and decided to field first, Both the openers didn’t make a big impression as they departed with 6 on the board. It was left to Azhar Mahmood & Marsh to take the KXIP into safety, which they both did perfectly with timed aggression with a partnership of 148 runs. Later scoring 80 of 44 balls and Marsh got 63 from 47 balls. Manan Vohra late 20 made sure KXIP scored 183 in 20 overs. Mumbai was totally out of form today, no one looked to get going at any point and credit also goes to KXIP bowlers who kept Mumbai always in the bay. However best part is when Gilly bowled the last over for the first time in his cricketing career and picked wicket in the very first ball. Later followed the Gilly’s own version of Gagnam style to end the veteran’s cricketing career.

Kings XI Punjab won the match by 50 runs…

Game 2, Just time pass for the crowd should we call it, rain curtailed match and 8 overs per side. Tailor made situation for players like Gayle, Kohli & ABD. RCB in a do or die situation came really good with skipper leading from the front scoring a quick fifty. Few skiers from Gayle in the middle overs made sure to get mammoth 106/2 in 8 overs. CSK never got into chase, late strike from Dhoni & Vijay made sure CSK scored 82 runs. RCB won a very important game and now they will be hoping KKR to win the game against SRH tomorrow and make way for RCB to playoff’s.

Royal Challengers Bangalore won the match by 24 runs…

Standings as on DAY 46:

IPL 6: Day 34–David Miller smokes RCB out of the park…

May 7, 2013 at 12:22 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi…

"If it’s in the V, it’s in the tree. If it’s on the arc, it’s out of the park." That was the advice David Miller got from his father ahead of this match. And now the whole world will be chatting it like Gayathri mantra.

Game 51, Hussey won the toss and decided to field first, As usual RCB stated with Gayle Assault to add up to it, this time Che Pujara also got a chance to get a fifty. As always for RCB, ABD finished the innings in a blistering fashion to end up with more than par score of 190/3 in 20 overs. KXIP didn’t have a start they were expecting losing Shaun Marsh early and followed both Mandeep & Gurkreet Singh. Skipper also left with out making any big impact in the stroke of 10th over with scorecard read 64/4, needing 127 in 60 balls. Till 13th over game was well and truly with RCB as KXIP was trailing by 95 with 42 balls to spare. Everyone thought it just formality for RCB to wipe it out, but David Miller strong young lad from South Africa, who has been fighting a lone battle for last few games, showed/proved his mettle by striking it hard and clear. Add to the woes, one the best fielder & skipper Kohli dropped a straight forward chance of David miller when he was 41. In the end Satish helped himself with a 20 but its again a One man show Killer Miller doing it for KXIP… From the stage of 95 needed of 42 balls, and winnings with 12 balls to spare says it all..

Kings XI Punjab won the match 6 wickets with 12 balls to spare…

Standings as on DAY 34:

IPL 6: Day 30–Raina’s Century & ABD’s blitzkrieg sums up…

May 3, 2013 at 12:29 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi..

Certainly its Midweek Madness as IPL  is going crazy by having third double header on a week on this same week.

Game 1, CSK in the form of their life met KXIP in their den, Saha & Hussey pair started the innings from the place where they left, As both departed bit earlier today than expected and Dhoni went for a non existent second run to leave the crease very early. So it was another Super Kings day to step up the scoring shoes and it was none other than IPL top scorer Suresh Raina, who did in style with a Century the only record missing in his IPL career resume. Shacky start by KXIP losing David hussey bit quick didn’t help them either. But Shaun Marsh & David Miller struck a partnership between them and got the important runs at crucial junctures and kept the chase always on till the last 6 balls bowled, Dwayne Bravo just made the important difference between both sides by just bowling the last over for just 3 runs and picking 3 wickets. CSK continue to roar in their den.

Chennai Super Kings won the match by 15 runs…

Game 2, not much fancied one as of now, Pune hosting RCB, Yes, What you think is right, this is the team which Gayle torn into pieces and went on to make record books re written. RCB won the toss and went on to pile up the runs in gradual pace today because Gayle has to depart bit early. However it is, in the end its ABD who stole the show and game from Pune Warriors India, by picking 26 runs in the last over bowled by Dinda. PWI as always started of by losing wickets in regular intervals, but for one change Robin Uthappa played a matured and classy knock but it was a lone battle waged which was too much and in the end Pune fell short. Giving RCB the much needed first away for this season.

Royal Challengers Bangalore won the match by 17 runs…

Standings as on DAY 30:

IPL 6: Day 25–Fiery Faulkner & Muscly Smith does it…

April 28, 2013 at 1:52 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi…

Double Header Weekend is back…

First Game, Rajasthan made it much more simpler than I could right here… Faulkner, Chandila & Cooper bowled excellently to reduce SRH to 29/6 in 6 overs after choosing to bat first. Just when they thought SRH may not even cross fifty, Thanks again to Mishra & Darren Sammy who played the game of his life to bring them back in game with his hard fought 60 runs. SRH finished at 144 runs, more than they should have actually got for a kind of start they had. Rahane didn’t make much impression but Skipper & Binny played a supporting role to One Man Army Watson to score 98* blistering runs to win the match in ease.

Rajasthan Royals won the match by 8 wickets with 13 balls to spare…

Second game, If i just said first was no contest, this was quite a contest till Gayle was dismissed, then one word Dismal… Mumbai started off with a blast, Pollard, Karthik & Bhajji in the end made sure Mumbai got to a highest score against RCB 194 runs in 20 overs. Then began the real Battle, walked in the Predator with his heavy swing arms, but Mitchell Johnson & Malinga were on par with their bowling skills to keep him in the Bay, But it was the Turbanator who picked up the Predator. Once he left, procession followed and in the end 8th wicket partnership between Ravi Rampaul & Vinay Kumar reduced the deficit by 51 run partnership, which made sure RCB went on to lose their 3 away game as well.

Mumbai Indians won the match by 58 runs…

Interesting Stats IPL 6 Day 25:

– 20 runs scored in Ishant’s 3rd over was the expensive for this season and his 2nd expensive one overall.

– Watson’s fifty of 39 balls is the slowest among the 10 IPL fifty he has.

– 53 runs scored in first ten overs by Royals is the lowest for this season.

– Now Sangakarra has 34 catches behind the stumps, he shares the second position with Dhoni now. List is topped by Gilchrist with 47 catches.

– This is 11th time Royals have chased down a score more than 145 runs ot of 24 times they have been asked for.

– 7th, 8th and 9th wickets for Sunrisers scored 115 runs in the game against Rajasthan which is the highest for Sunrisers for these wickets.

– 5/20 by James Faulkner is the best performance for him in IPL career. It is also the best bowling figures for this season of IPL bettering Sunil Narine’s 4/13.

– 60 runs scored is the highest score for Darren Sammy, previous was 41*.

– This is 7th time for the 7th wicket partnership has crossed fifty runs in IPL career.

– 29/6 is the second lowest score by any team in IPL so far, List is topped by Kochi’s 11/6. Ironically that has also happened exactly on the same day 27th April.

– Rajasthan Royals now have a record of 20-9 win Vs loss record in Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

– 2/21 by Harbhajan Singh is the best spell for this season.

– 194 runs scored by Mumbai Indians is their best score against RCB in all seasons, their previous best was 191 runs.

– Rayudu becomes the 4th batsmen to be dismissed for Diamond Duck, the other three were Kallis, Gony & Mishra.

– 1/43 by Syed Mohammed is the most expensive spell by him in all the ten IPL games.

– RCB have won all the three games against Mumbai when they played in Wankade, and finally today Mumbai pulled one back.

– RCB has lost all the three away games played this season, Chennai & Hyderabad & now Mumbai.

– A Victory by 58 runs for Mumbai against RCB is the highest for them in the IPL career.

IPL 6: Day 14–Gony muscles through KKR & Kohli gets back the skipped heart…

April 17, 2013 at 12:45 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi…

Its a another double header on a weekday, but never a dull moment in both the games, edge seat thriller made Weekday more brighter esp for Cricket lovers.

Gambhir won the coin and decided to field first, KXIP got their best opening partnership 24 runs of this season, before Gilly continued his miserable tour with Bat, Mandeep singh played his part well with Vohra. Later Hussey & Miller struck a good partnership to get KXIP back in track, before Narine came up with an Hat trick to remove the 3 Batsmen in a wisp. That brought Gony into play, who muscled literally every ball he faced to get to the best score of the innings 42 of 18 balls. To end up at 157 in 20 overs.

KKR got off to a disastrous start once again as they were 1/2 in 2 overs time. But Gambhir & Morgan pulled a century partnership between them and came as close as possible to win the game, Before Gambhir edged one to Gilly, when they needed 52 from 42 balls. All of a sudden pumped up KXIP started pulling thing their way, and KKR started losing their plot esp the batsmen in the middle both Tiwary & Yusuf threw the game away, as they consumed 14 balls between these space to produce 4 runs. Which proved deadly in the end even though Rajat Bhatia tried couple of lusty blows, it wasn’t quite enough for KKR to cross the line.

Kings XI Punjab won the match by 4 runs…

If u think Wow first game was a big topsy turvy ride, Just look into the second game which unfolded later in the day. It was a big see saw battle out there between RCB & DD, which was finally settled in a super over.

Delhi who had a go with Bat first, started well than expected with Shewag & Warner, but once they were out within the space of 4 balls, Later Juneja, Mahela & Rohrer steadied the innings to get a par score, but Pathan & Jadhav ensured Delhi went past 150 runs. RCB who lost both the openers cheaply, again had a rescue act just like game one, but this time from Kohli & De Villers. De Villers was run out unexpectedly when team needed 24 runs of 24 balls, with Skipper playing well who has gone past fifty, How on earth some one could lose this game, Ask RCB as they tied it in the end where they slumped from 129/2 in 16 overs to 152/7 in 20 overs.

RCB ended up on the losing side of Super over, but this time they got to bat first and AB does it this as he thumped last two balls of Umesh Yadav to sixes, which ensured Delhi needed 16 runs to win in a super over, Delhi again tried his luck (with some help from Pathan) but in the end fell short of 5 runs. To give RCB the victory which they have got it some 30 mins before all this chaos.

Match Tied, Royal Challengers Bangalore won the match by Super Over…

KKR rode on their Skipper’s half century and some added support from Yusuf & Tiwary made sure KKR scored 154/8 in 20 overs.        Rajasthan Royals got off to a decent start thanks to ever dependable Wall, who yet again scored a 50. IPL 5: Day 46 – Deccan’s Play Perfect Spoilers & Mumbai adds icing to the tour…

May 21, 2012 at 12:26 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2012, IPL 5) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi all,

Last day of League games, tiresome cricket over 6 weeks or so and it all boils down to last two matches of the season, One being very important for 2 teams mainly and other inconsequential game at the end of the day.

Match 71:

Deccan Chargers Vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

A Must win game for Bangalore, They have to win this game to enter playoff’s and on the process they will knock CSK out of the league for the first time even without making off to the playoff’s. On the other side, Deccan’s have a chance to better themselves and place themselves at eighth spot rather than being the wooden spooners.

Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to Field first, as he called RCB made early inroads by removing inform opener Dhawan for just 5, and followed Aksath Reddy & Cameron White with troubling much of the score, as DC were 20/3 in 4 overs.  Sanga along with Duminy tried to restore the middle order with some slow paced innings as DC crossed 50 runs in 11 overs.  Duminy played an important hand in the process and gave DC a modest total to defend. Chargers finished with 132/7 in 20 overs.

The way RCB fans look at this score is, it’s just 4 more runs higher than Gayle would score (he scored 128* in 62 balls last match). As always Gayle started off in blistering fashion as he plundered 24 runs in the second over of the match, it almost looked match will be over by the first strategic time, if Gayle can continue his assault. But it wasn’t the case as Steyn this time ruffled Gayle and picked up with a well directed bouncer to inside edge into stumps, 6 balls later he picked up the fellow opener Dilshan to a very straight delivery who swung hard and missed right infront of the stumps. Mishra picked a couple more wickets esp the one of De villers to put pressure back on RCB. At this moment 57/4 in 10 overs. Kohli & Tiwary played from then sensibly found boundaries when ever needed, until Kohli had a mind freeze who slogged to Long off and get caught right after hitting a six. Tiwary tried his level best, but failed to with hold the pressure surmounting. As RCB failed to reach the target by 9 runs, which eventually turned out to be the killer knock for them.  This win also means that Deccan will not finish at the bottom of the table as they will go past Pune and hold eighth position now.

RCB out of the tournament which means CSK is into Playoff’s, having to see three matches to go their way and now they are into Playoff’s. Certainly Dhoni is a lucky fellow. Chennai will owe a lot to Deccan’s they have won two games out of no where. Thanks has to be presented to Amit Mishra & I can’t miss the person who breathe fire in bowling Dale Steyn. Only these gentlemen made this happen.

Deccan Chargers won the game by 9 Runs…

Match 72:

Rajasthan Royals Vs Mumbai Indians

Not much of a hype around this game, as its not going to make any difference for anyone. Though Mumbai want to win the game and keep the momentum going their way, Royals will like to finish one more to feature in the W column of the table.

Dravid won the toss and decided to Bat first, Not a great start though as both openers walked when score was 31 in 5 overs. Binny & Watson played sensible cricket, but both had to depart when they tried to up the runrate. Shah & Menaria played few important shot and finally Rajasthan finished with 162 runs on the board.

Mumbai know they have to win this one strongly to take the confidence into Playoff’s. As it said Sachin & Smith started doing it in style but with some luck added to it. None of the edges carried to the fielder always falling on the no man’s land. Even if one carried where Watson dropped it, That was the kind of day Royals had in field, their bowling looked very much clumsy, fielding was more shabbier than ever. Trivedi had picked up the wicket of Smith just after he crossed his fifty but to his agony it was a no ball. Nothing stopped them as they sped past the winning runs with 12 balls to spare.

Mumbai Indians won the match by 10 wickets with 12 balls to spare…

Final League Standings of IPL season 5:

Four  Teams (Metros) who will play out for the cup is Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians & Chennai Super Kings…

Interesting facts as on Day 46:

–          Dwayne Smith scored his Maiden fifty in his IPL career.

–          Dhwan Kulkarni bowled the 27th Maiden of this season.

–          Mumbai have utilised eight opening pairs for this season, highest ever by any team, on the contrary Rajasthan Royals used only one opening pair (Dravid & Rahane throughout the tournament)

IPL 5: Day 35 – Gayle storms past Mumbai Indians…

May 10, 2012 at 12:31 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2012, IPL 5) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi all,

Match 54:

Royal Challengers Bangalore Vs Mumbai Indians

Important game again in this context, A win for Mumbai will almost seal the place in top four, RCB needed to jump up in the table, which will add more pressure to the mid table crisis, but RCB will like to join the chores.

Vettori dropped himself again, Stand in skipper Kohli won the toss and decided to field first. As expected by Kohli ball was doing much more than expected and Mumbai was exploited very nice by RCB bowlers in early as Mumbai were 5/2 in 4 overs time. Dinesh Karthik & Sachin had to mend a lot to bring back Mumbai into the context of the game, once Sachin departed when trying to accelerate. Rayudu & Karthik got things good enough for a late launch, but it wasn’t the case as both were dismissed in the space of 2 overs. How ever Skipper Harbhajan & Pollard grinned few hits over and to fence to help Mumbai to 141/6 in 20 overs.

Just like Mumbai RCB was quite scratchy at the beginning and even Gayle offered a early chance to Dwanye Smith who dropped a swirler (only drop of the day too). Ojha stroke with a wicket as Dilshan adjusted LBW when score is at 48 in 9 overs time. Run Rate was creeping slowly, but however Gayle was too confident in getting the runs and he showed his intention in the third over bowled by Ojha as he sky rocked last three balls of the over to sixes and accumulating 22 runs in that over which almost turned game on his heads. From then on it was sail through kind of chase in a silent waters not even rubble’s to trouble. Gayle finished with 82* followed by Kohli with 36*.

RCB won the  match by 9 wickets with 12 balls to spare…

Standings as on DAY 35:

Interesting facts as on Day 35:

–          5/2 by Mumbai is the lowest scored by any team in 4 overs in IPL History.

–          Chris Gayle (515) took the Orange cap from Virender Shewag (468), not sure though he can continue to keep it to wear in the next game, as the both Delhi & Rajasthan have a game to play tomorrow.

–          Chris Gayle became the first batsman of this season to go past 500 runs.

–          Chris Gayle also won the 10th Man of the Match award.

–          Chris Gayle with 37 sixes to his name is the only batsmen to have more sixes than fours, as he has scored only 33 boundaries till now in season 5.

–          Gayle also scored the 6th IPL fifty for this season, highest of this season, followed by 5 each from Shewag & Gambhir.

–          Chris Gayle first innings of this season to end being Not out.

–          Chris Gayle also scored the 500th Six of this season.

–          A victory by 9 wickets is of the first for this season to get registered almost after 53 matches.  RCB will be the proud owners to have won the match with highest no. of wickets remaining.

–          Rohit Sharma registered the second duck for this season; list was headed Manish Pandey & Harbhajan with 3 to their names.

IPL 5: Day 32 – Dwayne Smith & ABdV pull off nail biting HEISTS for home teams…

May 7, 2012 at 12:35 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2012, IPL 5) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi all,

If u have missed the Day 32 in IPL 5… Certainly its worth watching again in Youtube… Don’t Miss it, provided u aren’t a Chennai & Deccan fan. 🙂

Match 49:

Chennai Super Kings Vs Mumbai Indians

With Points table in an hustle, Chennai needed to win this to keep themselves safe and ahead of others. Same the case for Mumbai as well.

Bhajji won the toss and decided to bowl first in Wankade Stadium, Mumbai. Chennai got off to a poor running as Du plessis went as a dead duck to a poor call from Murali Vijay’s call, how veer he made it with some good hitting after that. Raina, Bravo & Dhoni joined the party to make a good score, Malinga’s bowling in death was accurate as ever, where Mumbai conceded only 13 runs in last 12 balls bowled.

Mumbai started off with a maiden by Franklin, once he departed, Sachin joined Rohit Sharma and displayed once of the classy knock you could watch all day long, one word to describe was they were cruising to victory like a space ship. When Tendulkar was caught by brilliance of Faf, Mumbai needed 40 runs of 25 balls, Easy u would say with 8 wickets in hand, But CSK kept their nerves to pick up bunch of wickets from then, as Mumbai need 16 runs in last over. Ben Hilfenhaus bowled the first three balls beautifully for just 2 runs & a wicket, but next three balls was absolute blenders as he fed the hungry Dwanye smith with full tosses and he ate CSK and burped for 6,4,4 to win the game for Mumbai.

Mumbai Indians won the game by 2 wicket in the last ball.

Match 50:

Deccan Chargers vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

Deccan already in the party spoilers list nothing much to think about, RCB has to win this one without doubt, if not they will fall behind in the end of this season.

Vettori dropped himself for Murali to come in, Kohli capped the RCB team and won the toss and decided to field first.

Dr.Danial Harris got a game and he showed his master-class in the opening slots, by finding over the fence more than couple of times, Dhawan as well was in good knick as both piled on the runs. Another mix up with the opening pairs, as this time it was Danial harris who has to make a long walk back. White joined the dance and Sanga ended with a upbeat to finish with 181/1 in 20 overs

RCB again started of well, Dilshan being the aggressor and Gayle was rotating strike around him, When Gayle was about to explode, DC go this wicket, very soon they picked up Kohli with a stunning catch from Dale Styen. 78 runs from 36 balls, it was almost game for DC, until one man from South africa decided against it, AB de Villers smacked all around the park, esp the 18th over by Dale Steyn went for 23 runs which really turned match on its head. To say in the end RCB won the game more than comfortable with 7 balls to spare. One & Only AB de Villers could have done that as he smacked 47 runs from 17 balls.

RCB won the match by 5 wickets with 7 balls to spare…
