Just two games left for this season of IPL, and one is here today, Qualifier 2 between Underdogs Rajasthan taking on Mighty Mumbai Indians. Mumbai missing out against CSK will have a second chance to make it to finals, spirited Royals will look to make to the finals for the second time in their IPL career.

Qualifier 2, Dravid won the toss and decided to bat first, as always Dravid & Rahane gave a decent start of 44 runs for the first wicket before Rahane sweeps one between legs of Harbhajan to be castled. Quick two wicket in 8th & 9th over pushed Royals back, Dravid & Binny struck for a brief moment before Dravid was out to a loose shot off Bhajji again. However Yagnik & Hodge again propelled royals to a good score of 165 with some innovative shots. Bhajji was the star for Mumbai as he picked three crucial wickets & two important catches to add.

Needing 166 to win, Mumbai got off to a best start you could ask for, both Tare & destructive smith put on 70 runs in 9 overs. Later was dismissed off copper for 35. Karthik tied ends with Smith to continue the chase. Sudden surge of wickets gave Dravid’s Men a thin line of hope but Rayudu held his nerve to score 15 runs of penultimate over from Cooper, which almost sealed the game for Mumbai. However Rishi Dhawan first ball paddle sweep made it sure that Mumbai will face Chennai for the second time in IPL finals. Will it be Chennai again or Mighty Mumbai will lift the cup for the first ever time…? Answer has to be awaited till Sunday…

Mumbai Indians won the match 4 wickets with 1 ball to spare…

IPL 6: Day 49 Qualifier 1–Hussey & Raina help CSK to book themselves the 5th IPL Final…

May 22, 2013 at 12:35 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi all,

Last week in  IPL 6 and it starts with Top two teams in the table meet to decide who is gonna get the double promotion and be there on a Big Sunday..  Is it going to be fifth time for Chennai or second time for Mumbai…?

Qualifier 1, Dhoni won the coin and decided to bat first, When the big day comes, Chennai is totally a revamped team, CSK got off to a good start with 52 runs before losing Vijay while trying to up the run rate. Then came the partnership between Mr.Cricket Hussey & all time CSK star Raina, which changed the total complexion of the game. Hussey was subtle in his touch & class in anchoring along with Raina who showed the pure aggression & T20 style of batting. Both put on a 140 runs partnership in 76 balls which helped CSK to post a taunting 192/1 in 20 overs.

Mumbai without Sachin lost Aditya tare very early, but however Dwayne Smith scored a blistering blitzkrieg fifty of 21 balls to get Mumbai off to a flyer. But its that man again with golden arm for Dhoni, Sir Jadeja who picked the dangerous Smith at 68 of 28 balls. Once he is out suddenly Mumbai looked like headless chickens. Karthik got out sweeping to a straight ball, followed Skipper Rohit Sharma. For a very Brief moment Pollard looked like turning on the game with two back to back sixes off Jadeja, But u always know you can’t get away from Sir, just after hitting two sixes, so he had the last laugh by dismissing him and picking the third wicket of the day in the very same over. From then it was just Catching session for CSK, as Mumbai batsmen came to scoop the balls in the air and CSK fielders made sure they picked every one of them without missing. In the end Mumbai were bowled out for 144 in 18.4 overs.

Chennai Super Kings won the match by 48 runs and through to the finals for the fifth time in 6 seasons of IPL…

Interesting Stats IPL 6 Day 49:

– Bravo picked up his 14th Catch of the tournament; he leads the list of highest catches taken for this season.

– Dwayne Smith scored his fifty in 21 balls, which is the fastest for him in his IPL career, bettering his previous best in 34 balls.

– Mumbai now have lost four games when they have been asked to chase more than 190+.

– 192/1 is the CSK highest score with just losing a single wicket.

– 4-0-45-0 spell by Malinga is the most expensive one in IPL.

– 140 runs partnership between Hussey & Raina was the third time both involved more than 100 runs partnership. List is topped by Gayle & Kohli pair with 5 century partnership.

– 51 runs scored by CSK in last five overs against Mumbai is the highest by any team for this season.

– 47 runs scored by CSK in powerplay overs is the highest for CSK against Mumbai , also this first time against Mumbai they have never lost a wicket till the powerplay overs were finished.

IPL 6: Day 25–Fiery Faulkner & Muscly Smith does it…

April 28, 2013 at 1:52 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Double Header Weekend is back…

First Game, Rajasthan made it much more simpler than I could right here… Faulkner, Chandila & Cooper bowled excellently to reduce SRH to 29/6 in 6 overs after choosing to bat first. Just when they thought SRH may not even cross fifty, Thanks again to Mishra & Darren Sammy who played the game of his life to bring them back in game with his hard fought 60 runs. SRH finished at 144 runs, more than they should have actually got for a kind of start they had. Rahane didn’t make much impression but Skipper & Binny played a supporting role to One Man Army Watson to score 98* blistering runs to win the match in ease.

Rajasthan Royals won the match by 8 wickets with 13 balls to spare…

Second game, If i just said first was no contest, this was quite a contest till Gayle was dismissed, then one word Dismal… Mumbai started off with a blast, Pollard, Karthik & Bhajji in the end made sure Mumbai got to a highest score against RCB 194 runs in 20 overs. Then began the real Battle, walked in the Predator with his heavy swing arms, but Mitchell Johnson & Malinga were on par with their bowling skills to keep him in the Bay, But it was the Turbanator who picked up the Predator. Once he left, procession followed and in the end 8th wicket partnership between Ravi Rampaul & Vinay Kumar reduced the deficit by 51 run partnership, which made sure RCB went on to lose their 3 away game as well.

Mumbai Indians won the match by 58 runs…

– 60 runs scored is the highest score for Darren Sammy, previous was 41*.

– This is 7th time for the 7th wicket partnership has crossed fifty runs in IPL career.

IPL 5: Day 32 – Dwayne Smith & ABdV pull off nail biting HEISTS for home teams…

May 7, 2012 at 12:35 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2012, IPL 5) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi all,

If u have missed the Day 32 in IPL 5… Certainly its worth watching again in Youtube… Don’t Miss it, provided u aren’t a Chennai & Deccan fan. 🙂

Match 49:

Chennai Super Kings Vs Mumbai Indians

With Points table in an hustle, Chennai needed to win this to keep themselves safe and ahead of others. Same the case for Mumbai as well.

Bhajji won the toss and decided to bowl first in Wankade Stadium, Mumbai. Chennai got off to a poor running as Du plessis went as a dead duck to a poor call from Murali Vijay’s call, how veer he made it with some good hitting after that. Raina, Bravo & Dhoni joined the party to make a good score, Malinga’s bowling in death was accurate as ever, where Mumbai conceded only 13 runs in last 12 balls bowled.

Mumbai started off with a maiden by Franklin, once he departed, Sachin joined Rohit Sharma and displayed once of the classy knock you could watch all day long, one word to describe was they were cruising to victory like a space ship. When Tendulkar was caught by brilliance of Faf, Mumbai needed 40 runs of 25 balls, Easy u would say with 8 wickets in hand, But CSK kept their nerves to pick up bunch of wickets from then, as Mumbai need 16 runs in last over. Ben Hilfenhaus bowled the first three balls beautifully for just 2 runs & a wicket, but next three balls was absolute blenders as he fed the hungry Dwanye smith with full tosses and he ate CSK and burped for 6,4,4 to win the game for Mumbai.

Mumbai Indians won the game by 2 wicket in the last ball.

Match 50:

Deccan Chargers vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

Deccan already in the party spoilers list nothing much to think about, RCB has to win this one without doubt, if not they will fall behind in the end of this season.

Vettori dropped himself for Murali to come in, Kohli capped the RCB team and won the toss and decided to field first.

Dr.Danial Harris got a game and he showed his master-class in the opening slots, by finding over the fence more than couple of times, Dhawan as well was in good knick as both piled on the runs. Another mix up with the opening pairs, as this time it was Danial harris who has to make a long walk back. White joined the dance and Sanga ended with a upbeat to finish with 181/1 in 20 overs

RCB again started of well, Dilshan being the aggressor and Gayle was rotating strike around him, When Gayle was about to explode, DC go this wicket, very soon they picked up Kohli with a stunning catch from Dale Styen. 78 runs from 36 balls, it was almost game for DC, until one man from South africa decided against it, AB de Villers smacked all around the park, esp the 18th over by Dale Steyn went for 23 runs which really turned match on its head. To say in the end RCB won the game more than comfortable with 7 balls to spare. One & Only AB de Villers could have done that as he smacked 47 runs from 17 balls.

RCB won the match by 5 wickets with 7 balls to spare…
