IPL 6: DAY 35–Dravid, Rahane’s Deja vu & Sachin’s class…

May 8, 2013 at 12:35 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Game 1, Rajasthan Royals took on Delhi, Once again a dismal performance by Delhi made it so simple for Rajasthan who have been chasing comfortably for this season, esp in Jaipur. Delhi even after a big effort from Debutant Ben Rohrer scoring 63* Delhi ended up with  154/4 in 20 overs. Just like last game both Rahane & Skipper Dravid continued the partnership this time little extended to reach a century between both for the first time. Dravid departed after laying a winning platform. Watson just had some runs to score of, which he did effectively with 14 ball 28 to win the game.

Rajasthan Royals won the match 9 wickets with 13 balls to spare…

Game 2, KKR literally on the verge of exit, need to win this game to be mathematically present in the IPL context. Sachin started off the Mumbai Innings with flurry of boundaries, Even though he was dismissed, Rohit & Dinseh made sure runs are coming thick & fast. With a very good last over to end MI at 170/6 in 20 overs. KKR started their chase in a disastrous fashion to lose the skipper for 0. Situation didn’t improve much even after the incident.  Mumbai Indians made it look like a one sided game for themselves. Easy winning by 65 runs,

Mumbai Indians won the match  by 65 runs…

IPL 6: Day 22– Dwayne’s Special gift on Master’s B’day…

April 25, 2013 at 12:19 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

A Day the Whole nation was celebrating the not because of this match, Its is because of the Master who has been regarded as God of Cricket celebrating his 40th birthday today but still young as ever. Smile

Right coming to context, It’s East Vs West or to say Mumbai Vs Kolkata in Eden Gardens. Rain gods, finally waved hands to see a game, which had a delayed start of 30 mins, without any loss in the overs. KKR won the toss and decided to bat first, Started of in a blistering fashion, Mumbai tied up in the later overs and finally late surge from Tiwary & Morgan made sure KKR got 159 runs in 20 overs. In came the Bday boy along with Dwayne Smith for the chase, but to all disappointment he went back for just 2 runs seeing his middle stumps rooted by a vicious turner from Sunil Narine. Dwayne kept the runrate in check with lusty blows here & then. After his departure, Rohit & Pollard kept the chase going with thirties to their names, but when both departed and Mumbai need 10 runs in the last over, It is Singh is King Harbhajan who delivered the much needed killer Blow of six to win the game for Mumbai.

Mumbai Indians won the match by 5 wickets with 1 ball to spare…

Interesting Stats IPL 6 Day 22:

– Dwayne Smith scored 500 runs in his IPL career.

– Dinesh Karthik scored his 150th Boundary in his IPL career; list is topped by Virender Shewag.

– KKR has a very dubious record of losing 9 out of 11 games played against MI in the IPL history including the game tonight.

– Till today, most conceded by Harbhajan against KKR is 26 runs, ironically, those were scored in the very first over itself.

– 46 runs scored by KKR in the first three overs is the highest for this season.

– Rohit Sharma has captained only 4 domestic games and this is his Maiden captain stint in his IPL career.

– This is third game Sachin has played on his birthday, first occasion was in Sharjah & secondly was in 2011 in an IPL game and now the third.

– Manoj Tiwary scored the 250th Six of this season.

– 12 out 17 times Balaji has gone less than 8 runs when he bowled the penultimate over.

IPL 3: Day 39 Review…

April 20, 2010 at 1:10 am (IPL, IPL 3) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi guys,

Final day in IPL 3 league matches…

Match 56 Review:
Kolkata Knight Riders Vs Mumbai Indians

With Mathematical Chances Kolkata comes into this match, to take on Table toppers Mumbai Indians, but its all over for KKR as the coin was spun and Ganguly lost the toss, as the only way to make into semi’s is to win with a margin of 175+ and bravo (Stand in captain) decided to bat first after winning the toss which ruled out any speculation of KKR making to semi’s. Being a dead rubber(first time i got to write this in IPL), Mumbai rested all the key players including skipper Sachin. Just a namesake team took the guard against KKR.

Mumbai started with jiggles as Bond ran over to pick the openers in quick succession, then Tiwary and Duminy played steady ship innings and got the runs in slow pace, not a gr8 hurry from any1, just played the game and to say KKR bowled well too. After few Dismissals Rayudu accelerated a bit in the end to get them to 133/8 in 20 overs.

MI 133/8 in 20 overs.

Tiwary 46       Rayudu 27
M.Karthik 2/20    S.Bond 2/24

KKR 135/1 in 17.3 overs.

B.McCullum 57*       S.Ganguly 42
R.Sathish 1/11      Bravo 0/7

Chasing a score less than 7 runs per over isn’t always tough, plus with de depleted Mumbai bowling, KKR did the chase slowly and steadily (May be if they played this well they could have qualified for semi’s – too late boss), got the boundaries and kept the Kolkata crowd entertained all the time, Ganguly was the only one to be dismissed with a mistimed hit, rest all just written on the wall, a cool innings from McCullum and Hussey to get past the winning line with 9 wickets in hand.

Final Table Standings as of DAY 39 in IPL 3:

Interesting Facts on DAY 38 & DAY 39:
