IPL 6: Day 20– Aggressive Hussey floors Watto power…

April 23, 2013 at 1:51 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

A Game of D’s, Dhoni Vs Dravid, Mass Vs Class… Always a treat to watch this combination for any cricket lover and definitely for me too…Dravid won the Toss and decided to Bat first, A simple one liner was the royals batting, Just Watson show all the way, Showed no mercy to any bowler ad he hardly worried about what length or line they bowled, Sheer display of Watto Powerhouse which allowed him to go past first century mark in this season of IPL. Binny and other Rajasthan players played around him to get to a score of 185 runs in 20 overs.

Chasing 185+ is always tough for any team and if one team could do with ease then it has to be CSK with the kind of batting line up they have, Only problem for them is Raina & Badrinath have not come to form yet. But it gave an opportunity today to the Later to get back his golden knick with bat, who scored his first six in this season IPL & first fifty of this season. Raina also empowered Hussey all the way who looked aggressive right from the word go and always kept the required run rate under control. At one stage when Dravid pulled a stunning run out & wickets of Jadeja + Dhoni trickled a small confusion in the CSK dugout, but Bravo ensured to clear the ropes comfortably once in the last over to get past the win line in style with a ball to spare…

Chennai Super Kings won the match by 5 wickets with 1 ball to spare…

Interesting Stats IPL 6 Day 20:

– 58 runs scored by CSK in the powerplay overs is the highest for them in this season.

– This season has been made to wait longest to get the first century (30 matches), previous season was the slowest which took 18 matches.

– This is the first time Rajasthan Royals have lost a match when they have scored more than 162 runs, their record stands 15 – 0 till today, as now it will be rewritten as 15-1.

– Suresh Raina scored his 15th IPL fifty and also his first six for this season.

– Chennai has chased 5 times (including today) the score anything above 185+ and lost 3 times.

– Ravindra Jadeja scored his 3rd IPL duck and first as a Chennai Super King.

– 49 runs conceded by Kevon Cooper is the highest in any T20 international game.

– This is fourth time in IPL out of 25 occasions an IPL century has ended up in a losing side, previous century scorer are Symonds, Yusuf Pathan, Tendulkar & now Watson.

May 11, 2012 at 11:56 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2012, IPL 5) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi all,

Another enthralling day in IPL 5…

Match 55:

Delhi Daredevils Vs Deccan Chargers

Delhi’s David Warner’s swashbuckling century grounded Deccan Chargers even after scoring a decent total of 187 in 20 overs. Warner finished with 109* along with Naman Ojha who scored a unbeaten 64*.

Earlier in the day Dhawan and White made their efforts to pick up the score to 187, they did little know it would be chased with 20 balls to spare. With this win Delhi move to the Top of the table, riding past KKR who is with 17 points with the same no .of matches.

Match 56:

Chennai Super Kings Vs Rajasthan Royals

Rain intruded match started bit delayed, with enough breeze ball swung beautifully in both ways, Which Hilfenhaus used to his advantage picking up 4-1-8-2. Stringent bowling from CSK meant Royals weren’t able to pick the gaps easily and they finished with the lowest score of this season 126/6 in 20 overs.

Chennai started off again on a wrong foot, this time Vijay going for a duck. Hussey & Raina continued to score in the difficult track with slow pace. Raina departed after a sudden brain freeze shot where CSK were 36/2 in 6 overs. Dhoni & Bravo couldn’t help much in scoring, Jaddu scored 16 runs with a boundary & a six. It looked almost game Royals when Jaddu departed with a score of 84, needing 43 runs in 20 balls. But new entrant Anirutha Sreekanth & Albie Morkel had a different plan, where they went berserk for next balls and match was over and Chennai won by 4 wicket with 11 balls to spare. Both Aniruth Srikkanth & Albie Morkel had the same figures in their batting, as we can see, both scored 18 runs in 6 balls with 2 sixes and 1 boundary. Finally Australianism in CSK prevailed atleast once for this season.

IPL 5: Day 18–Captain Cool’s Coolness & Red Hot Dada seal the day…

April 22, 2012 at 12:14 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2012, IPL 5) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi All,

Another double header day in IPL 5…

Match 26:

Chennai Super Kings Vs Rajasthan Royals

Having won the last two games Chennai will look to continue their winning stance, with this win it will be three in a row for them in their fortress Chepauk. Royals will like to ease the things and go for a win.

Dravid won the toss and decided to bat first, Not much from the openers just gave a regular opening stand between Dravid & Rahane. Innings mattered came from Owasis Shah and Ashok Menaria who stitched a 92 runs partnership between them, Even though wickets were in hand for Royals they failed to accelerate the scores, thanks to some good bowling from Kulasekara. Royals finished the innings with 146/3 in 20 overs.

Match 26

Less then 7.5 runs/over to chase, CSK had another good opening partnership between Faf & Badri, and later Faf joined Raina to propel the scorecard slowly and steadily. Royals kept themselves in the hunt always by not gifting to many runs and by some tight fielding. All of a sudden both the set batsmen Raina & Faf gone in the same over, which brought Bravo & Dhoni in the crease, Captain cool got the match to tense up and waited till the last ball to steal the victory, It has now become an habit for Dhoni and he seems to be doing just fine, other than keeping his fans heart in their mouth. CSK won the game by 7 wickets…

Match 27:

Pune Warriors India Vs Delhi Daredevils

Last year Wooden Spooners Delhi is the table toppers for this season, what a change of fortunes for them, They seems to be almost unbeatable with Bowling lead front by Morne Morkel & Pathan. Batting looking destructive & formidable with names like Shewag, Pietersen, Taylor, Jayawardene and add Pathan. The Best in the business. Dada having lost their last two games, need to win this back to get back on track.

Delhi won the toss and decided to chase for the 6th time in this season, to say Delhi is the only team which haven’t batted first for this season of IPL. Pune Lost Uthappa early, but Skipper Ganguly joined with Ryder to get into a very important partnership to get PWI to a big score. They share 93 runs between them, late assault from Smith and Ryder made sure PWI reach their highest total for this season of IPL. Ryder got himself out in the last over with 86 to his name.Smith got a quick 34 from13 balls. PWI finished with 192/3 in 20 overs.

Match 27

Having to chase down a mammoth, Shewag & co started very cautiously and very soon they lost Jayawardene for a nothing shot, Later both Shewag & Pietersen  broke loose after couple of overs, as runrate started to creep up and went on & on, until Pune’s Skipper Ganguly decided to take the matter to his own hands and oh boy, didn’t he have a golden arm as he removed Pietersen of the very first delivery he bowled, later he added Irfan also to his account, as he finished with 2/27 in 20 overs. Shewag too perished to bring down the creeping run rate and Murali Karthik being the beneficiary. Ross Taylor & Yogesh nagar tried to avoid the inevitable, but some good death bowling kept DD under the target and they faced their second defeat of this season. As PWI won the match by 20 runs. And its none other than DADA GIRI all the way to win the game with 41 runs with bat, 2 wicket with ball and a catch to add the spice.
