IPL 3: Big Finals – CSK Vs MI…

April 26, 2010 at 11:15 pm (IPL, IPL 3) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi guys,

Finally, its de D-Day in IPL season 3…

Match 60 Review:
Chennai Super Kings Vs Mumbai Indians

Its the Gr8 Finale for the third season of IPL,  Indian Captain taking on a man who is be in this business for couple of decades, None other than Sachin Tendulkar. Journey for Mumbai Indians is much better and easy as they are driven home always by Sachin. Few occasions he missed, Young Indians rose to occasion to make it much better. And here they are in the Finals of IPL season 3. To say abt Chennai it wasn’t the same as they were languishing in the bottom half of the table most of the times and their skipper got back them in nick of time to make into Semi’s, bowler helped them to make into finals. Some or the other here they are… Not to miss out the fact, CSK is the only team who qualified for semi’s in all the three seasons and once in a final…

Evening started with brilliant colors and Men in white AR Rahman emerged out of the crowd Singing “Chale Chalo” from Lagaan (Seems much apt song though), followed Bipasha Basu and Shahid Kapoor to bust a move, and again its Rahman who finished with his Trademark Jai Ho and Maa Tuje Saalam…

Mumbai crowd was Jam packed and had 60,000 ppl watching eagerly and supporting their teams, Mostly Mumbai Indians (Any one have doubt in it…?) Sachin finally announcing himself in the centre, eventhough injury hasn’t been cured, he is ready to play and took a brave move… Once again Dhoni won the Coin and decided to Bat first. Both teams went with the same squad which played in the semi’s.

Hayden walked out with Murali Vijay and Bhajji started the things for Mumbai, its very much visible that Haydos is been struggling for his form, he shouldered many balls which he could have atleast worked towards third man for a single, Which really out the pressure and Vijay, so as a subside, he scored runs in quick pace, few hits over the fences are so spl to watch. After putting the best first wicket partnership against Mumbai Indians, Murali decided to give away his wicket to Fernando and followed Hayden, this time Pollard being the benefiter. Raina was joined by Badri, He played few innovative shots before pulling one straight to third man. As he departed score was 67/3 in 11 overs. Dhoni certainly knows his team needs 160+ score to defend, so he started pushing hard, Raina joined him, But he lofted twice in mid air, which was (Turning Point) dropped by Feranando and Zaheer to give him the reprieve, which he capitalized on, he went on to score 57 from 35 balls. Dhoni stitched with him in a partnership of 72 runs, which really turned the match in favor of Yellow Jerseys… Bowling Both Fernando and Harbhajan was good…

CSK 168/5 in 20 overs.

Raina 57*          M.Vijay 26
Fernando 2/23  Z.Khan1/34

MI 146/9 in 20 overs.

Sachin 48              Pollard 27
Muralitharan 1/17     S.Jakathi 2/26

CSK WON THE MATCH BY 22 RUNS.

Few poor overs and fielding costed Mumbai a lot and now their side will be chasing a score of 8.5 runs per over. In form Batsmen Sachin walked out Dhawan. Start couldn’t be better for Chennai, as Ashwin started with a Maiden first over. Both Ashwin and Bolinger tied up the run flow and kept Mumbai in the bay, Dhawan went for a 8 ball duck, Bolinger being the bowler. Abshiek Nayar joined alongside his Skipper, played a sensible knock, but he was lucky many a times as Chennai kept on missing their run out chances, Not before Skipper Dhoni pulled one of bull’s eye. As he departed to all surprise Harbhajan came into play (Some kind of a Pinch hitter r what…?) but his stayed was cut short by raina with a quicker one which wud have hit the middle and leg. Rayudu joined tendulkar, Run rate was creeping all time now, its almost 2 runs a ball. Jakathi was brought back by dhoni to bowl 15th over, which Sachin started off with a boundary, but very next ball, he just lofted one to Murali Vijay, who has Bucket hands, in which ball plunged. Jakathi struck again by removing Saurab Tiwary, provided by the brilliant catch from Suresh Raina. Even after 5th wicket down, we didn’t have the glimpse of Kieron Pollard, Duminy and Rayudu played out important few balls without much success, which real pulled run rate further up. Just when Duminy was just pulled before the ropes, Mumbai needed 55 from last 18 balls. (Too much for any1 – even for pollard). Record stands as 46 scored in last 3 is the best (scored by Dhoni against KXIP in Dharmasla), Dhoni turned to his best bowler Bollinger to bowl to Pollard, West Indian had one thing in mind, that is to repay the purse of Ambani’s, He went hard on Dougie to pick 22 runs in his over, which really turned the game upside down, Needing 33 from 12 with pollard in crease looked so easy. Albie morkel was called to bowl the penultimate over of his life, He bowled first two balls to Rayudu and gave just a single, In came pollard and blasted the 3rd to straight boundary, Next one picked a couple and 5th trying the same, where second not on, but Pollard wanted to be in strike ran back hard, in the end rayudu doing the good man job, sacrificing his wicket. After seeing 3 balls been hit straight, Dhoni got a mid off fielder right in the back of bowler, Very much straightest mid off, Not to leave, he also had the long off fielder unmoved. Morkel bowled the delivery outside off full, and Pollard trying to drive in up, fell straight into the hands of Hayden who was the straightest Mid off fielder. Both Morkel and Hayden made the mark for the day, and not to leave out Dhoni’s brilliant captaincy.  With Pollard back in hut needing 27 in last over, is in simple game Chennai. CHENNAI SUPER KINGS ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF THIS YEAR IPL 2010. Two times so close but not quite good enough to have the hand on the trophy, but this year its Chennai’s…

CHENNAI SUPER KINGSKU ORU PERIYA WHISLE PODU MAMU….

IPL 3: 3rd Place Play off – RCB Vs DC…

April 25, 2010 at 2:02 am (IPL, IPL 3) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi Guys,

Its Day 44 in IPL and its a 3rd place play off day.

Match 59 Review:
Royal Challengers Bangalore Vs Deccan Chargers

Both Last Year Finalist’s this year missing out and now playing for a place in Champions league, Gilly won the toss and decided to Bat first, As last time in finals Kumble opened the bowling against Gilly and the result is same as he was again out in the third ball of the first over (Nostalgic of last year finals) but this time to a fantastic catch by Kallis. From then on i can write only abt two ppl Anirudh Singh who scored almost half of the total and Venugopal rao who scored second max. Rest all had their noodles getting prepared in two mins, so they all r in hurry to go for it. Yep Not more than 2 mins any1 stayed in crease. When Anirudh was dismissed they were 78/6 in 15 overs, after 15 balls they were all out for 82 runs. Which really meant the innings for the day. Just in simple not a day for DC’s… RCB captain again replicated his figures of 4/16 and the real star of the day.

DC 82/10 in 18.3 overs.

Anirudh Singh 40      V.Rao 24
A.Kumble 4/16      Kallis 2/3

RCB 86/1 in 13.5 overs.

Dravid 35*       K.Pieterson 29*
R.Sharma 1/24    Symonds 0/17

RCB WON THE MATCH BY 9 WICKETS.

Chasing the lowest ever target in this season, RCB were at ease, No real pressure and even to say No gr8 deal of pressure from Bowlers as well, it clear that they dont have a target to defend, when ur team is bowled out for paltry 82 runs, all u can do is bowl ur overs and finish ur formalities. (U can’t offer win declare in International matches, So sad…, if it was, today was an opportunity). To write in simple, Kallis played a sedated innings, even though chasing score was mere 80 odd, and finally ended his dreadful innings by hitting one back to rohit sharma. Dravid and Pieterson finished off the match with a thumping win for RCB. Mallya got a reason to smile now, without doubt… RCB qualify for Champions League which will be held later in this year.

Interesting facts on DAY 44 in IPL 3:

– 82 is the Lowest ever total scored by Deccan’s in IPL so far, previous was 100 against

CSK in last season.

– For the first time in this season, four batsmen have been dismissed for duck.

– 69 dot balls BY Deccan’s is the max by any team in an ipl game so far.

– Kallis went past Sachin in runs scored but Orange Cap is still with Sachin as the scores are valid only in the league game and this is just a play off game.

– This is also the first match where two maidens are bowled in a same match.(Steyn and

Kallis)

– 11th and 12th Maidens of IPL are bowled by Steyn and Kallis respectively.

– Dravid went past 200 runs in IPL this season and overall went past 900 runs today.

– 50 scored in 9.5 overs by RCB is the slowest one of this tournament.

At the end of DAY 44:

Total no.of Boundaries – 1685
Total no.of Sixes – 572

Orange Cap – J.Kallis (572) followed by Sachin Tendulkar (570) and S.Ganguly(493).
Purple Cap – Pragyan Ojha(21) followed by Amit Mishra, Kumble and Harbhajan at 17.

Most Sixes – Robin Uthappa (27) followed by Yusuf Pathan (24) and Murali Vijay (24).
Most Fours – Sachin Tendulkar(79) followed by J.Kallis (67).

IPL 3: Semi-final 2 – CSK Vs DC…

April 23, 2010 at 1:34 am (IPL, IPL 3) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi Guys,

Its Second Semi Finals in IPL 3…

Match 58 Review:

Chennai Super Kings Vs Deccan Chargers

Defending IPL Champions take on 3 time semi finalist Chennai Super Kings in a Knockout game, Winner will meet mighty Mumbai in their own den on coming Sunday. After seein KP getting a good spin CSK strengthened their Spin dept by adding Spin Maestro Muarli to the squad alongside with local Spin Duo Ashwin and Jakathi. Deccan got their Big Final’s player Gibbs and Harris back to their squad, in place of Vaas and Mitch Marsh.

Dhoni won the coin and decided to BAT first, Hayden walked out with Murali Vijay, Start was so jiggy for both as Hayden was in no mood to stay in crease, as he went on spree to offer chances and Deccan spilled twice to grab the third one finally, and this happened in space of 9 balls. Raina to had a luck, as suman spilled a easy one, but it didnt hurt much as he was taken soon by Symonds, Murali vijay scored a Six and joined second in the no.of Sixes hit this tournament, but Harris halted his run with a prefect straight up delivery full in pads. CSK were tottering 29/3 in 5 overs. Dhoni joined Badrinath to take back the game to a decent position, Dhoni as Indian skipper was in this position many a times, so he did the job in ease and never missed out the opportunity to swing his arms when ever balls were poor and needed to be punished. Just when CSK pulled right back the game, Harmeet stuck gold by removing Dhoni with a Zooter, Morkel came in and he tried to accelerate score and went bacck to a well judged catch by Symonds. Badrinath too unlucky as he peddled the ball back to Gilly and find himself short of crease. Anirudh Srikanth had two lusty sixes to bring CSK closer to 140 run mark. Finally CSK finished with 142/7 in 20 overs. Ryan Harris and Symonds were brilliant with ball to restrict CSK to 142.

CSK 142/7 in 20 overs.

Badrinath 37       Dhoni 30
R,Harris 3/29    Symonds 1/18

DC 104/10 in 19.2 overs.

Symonds 23      Gibbs 18
D.Bollinger 4/13      S.Jakathi 2/44

CSK WON THE MATCH BY 38 RUNS.

Even though Deccan’s have fumbled twice previously against KKR (161) and Mumbai (172), they must be pretty confident to chase down this par score with a deep batting line up. Gilly and Gibbs started the things SLOWLY, may be in their back of mind, they felt that target is easy so they can chase it if we have wicket in hand. So both blundered by scoring at slow pace, not to leave out good bowling and fielding of CSK too. Just before Powerplay was over, Bollinger stuck twice in the over to remove Gilly and Suman to give Chennai the real chance of making into finals. Scorecard read 23/2 in 6 overs, needing 120 from 14 overs, which is almost a runrate of 8/over. From then on writing for me is pretty simple no one kept themselves cool and stuck to wicket to score runs, Cant blame them when runrate is shooting up by 12 an over, so Wickets kept on falling in regular intervals to put break on scoring rate and in the end, Deccan’s lost the game by 38 runs. Bollinger was the star as he picked up 4 wickets for just 13 runs, Which is the so far best performance in this season of IPL 3… Seriously a good margin to win the game as yesterday MI won by 35 runs, which means Dhoni is 3 runs ahead of the Mumbai Indians.. Lets see who will prevail…

Now CSK will Meet MI in finals – Sunday (Both MI and CSK are qualified for Champions League)

RCB will take DC – 3rd place on Saturday.

Interesting Facts on Semis 2 in IPL 3:

– RP Singh has conceded a boundary every 4 deliveries he bowl.

– 88 sixes by Chennai is the most by any team in IPL so far.

– 9th Ball Bad Omen continued for the day as Hayden dismissed today in the 9th ball he

faced, Yesterday, both Kallis and Sachin got out in their 9th Ball.

– DC have picked 29 wickets in the powerplay overs.

– Ojha picked 50th wicket in IPL.

– 43 in ten overs is the Lowest scored in first ten overs by any team in IPL so far.

– 50 runs scored in 11.3 overs is the Slowest in IPL so far.

– 142 is the lowest defended in this IPL, previous was 145 by Deccan Chargers

– With 90 wickets Albie morkel now joins Yasir Arafat for most no.of wickets taken in

T20 cricket.

– Bollinger’s 4/13 is the Best bowling performance in this IPL season, bettering 4/19 by

Angelo Mathews of KKR.

– 4/13 is also the best performance so far in the IPL semifinal and finals, bettering

4/16 by Anil Kumble last year.

– Bollinger was the 5th bowler to pick 4 wickets in a game in IPL 3.

– TOP 3 scorers in IPL played this game, as per order Raina, Gilly and Rohit Sharma.

– Dhoni went past 1000 runs in IPL today, he now has 1005 runs to his name.

– Doug Bollinger bowled the 10th Maiden of this IPL.

At the end of DAY 42:

Total no.of Boundaries – 1668
Total no.of Sixes – 568

Orange Cap – Sachin Tendulkar (570) followed by J.Kallis (553) and S.Ganguly(493).
Purple Cap – Pragyan Ojha(21) followed by Amit Mishra(17) and Harbhajan(17).

Most Sixes – Robin Uthappa (27) followed by Yusuf Pathan (24) and Murali Vijay (24).
Most Fours – Sachin Tendulkar(79) followed by J.Kallis (64).

IPL 3: Semi-final 1 – MI Vs RCB…

April 22, 2010 at 12:33 am (IPL, IPL 3) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi Guys,

Its Semis time in IPL 3….

Match 57 Review:
Mumbai Indians Vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

Two old Indian warhorse’s meet together for one more time in this season, Sachin Vs Kumble,Latter won the toss and decided to Bat infront of the home crowd in a good batting track.. But start wasn’t the best u can expect as the Man in form Sachin dismissed for 9 in the 2nd over of the match.. After few lusty shots Dhawan also gone to a poor piece of running between the wickets. Abhisek Nayar and Rayudu played the sensible innings of building the partnership, But kumble brought in a surprising bowling change, he got Pieterson to bowl, and O boy he did pick out Nayar, who is just getting in the groove, other end Jumbo sent back Duminy, which left Mumbai at 81/4 in 10 overs, Tiwary joined Rayudu to built on the very important partnership of 67 runs to rescue Mumbai from the deep trouble, this could have been well cut short if Bangalore would have been bit more alert in the field. As rayudu departed, it seemed its blessing in disguise, as Pollard announced himself with array of shots to the fences, ending himself not out at 33 from just 13 balls. Which really gave Mumbai the necessary impetus to defeat RCB.Not to leave out Tiwary who scored a brilliant half century and ran with full dedication and keeping team in the mind.

MI 184/5 in 20 overs.

Tiwary 52*       Rayudu 40
Steyn 2/43    Pieterson 1/20

RCB 149/9 in 20 overs.

Ross Taylor 31*       Uthappa  26
K.Pollard  3/17      Malinga 2/24

MI WON THE MATCH BY 35 RUNS.

185 runs to chase, needed a best start, RCB got Dravid to open with Kallis (really strange to see this, is someone said they are test players…?) Right from the beginning Dravid was going for shots and Kallis was playing the subdued innings, But luck ran out for Kallis as he was dismissed for 11 from 9 balls. Pieterson joined Dravid to build the innings and steady the ship until Harbhajan storm stuck again picking Pieterson with a wide Stumping,. Just in the brink of time out in 9 overs, RCB 80/2, But just after the time break RCB’s last hope dented as Two wickets (Uthappa and Dravid) gone in the consecutive deliveries, Dravid sacrificed  himself for Ross Taylor. From then on No one gave the momentum for the chase and run rate never came around 14… Which meant the curtains for RCB in this season of IPL. Without doubt Kieron Pollard is the star with 3 wickets to his name.

Interesting Facts on DAY 57:

– This is the first time in this season Tendulkar is out in a Single figure.

– 3rd time in this IPL 2 No-balls are bowled in a same overs, latest being Kumble.

– K.Pollard played is 5oth T20 game.

– 16 Sixes hit by S.Tiwary is the highest among the Mumbai Indians

– For the first time in IPL Mumbai will go into finals.

At the end of DAY 41:

Total no.of Boundaries – 1648
Total no.of Sixes – 562

Orange Cap – Sachin Tendulkar (570) followed by J.Kallis (553) and S.Ganguly(493).
Purple Cap – Pragyan Ojha(20) followed by Amit Mishra(17) and Harbhajan(17).

Most Sixes – Robin Uthappa (27) followed by Yusuf Pathan (24).
Most Fours – Sachin Tendulkar(79) followed by J.Kallis (20).

IPL 3: Day 39 Review…

April 20, 2010 at 1:10 am (IPL, IPL 3) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi guys,

Final day in IPL 3 league matches…

Match 56 Review:
Kolkata Knight Riders Vs Mumbai Indians

With Mathematical Chances Kolkata comes into this match, to take on Table toppers Mumbai Indians, but its all over for KKR as the coin was spun and Ganguly lost the toss, as the only way to make into semi’s is to win with a margin of 175+ and bravo (Stand in captain) decided to bat first after winning the toss which ruled out any speculation of KKR making to semi’s. Being a dead rubber(first time i got to write this in IPL), Mumbai rested all the key players including skipper Sachin. Just a namesake team took the guard against KKR.

Mumbai started with jiggles as Bond ran over to pick the openers in quick succession, then Tiwary and Duminy played steady ship innings and got the runs in slow pace, not a gr8 hurry from any1, just played the game and to say KKR bowled well too. After few Dismissals Rayudu accelerated a bit in the end to get them to 133/8 in 20 overs.

MI 133/8 in 20 overs.

Tiwary 46       Rayudu 27
M.Karthik 2/20    S.Bond 2/24

KKR 135/1 in 17.3 overs.

B.McCullum 57*       S.Ganguly 42
R.Sathish 1/11      Bravo 0/7

KKR WON THE MATCH BY 9 WICKETS.

Chasing a score less than 7 runs per over isn’t always tough, plus with de depleted Mumbai bowling, KKR did the chase slowly and steadily (May be if they played this well they could have qualified for semi’s – too late boss), got the boundaries and kept the Kolkata crowd entertained all the time, Ganguly was the only one to be dismissed with a mistimed hit, rest all just written on the wall, a cool innings from McCullum and Hussey to get past the winning line with 9 wickets in hand.

Final Table Standings as of DAY 39 in IPL 3:

image

Interesting Facts on DAY 38 & DAY 39:

– Biggest win for KKR in terms of wickets in IPL ever, previous was 8 wickets win.

– KKR beaten Mumbai for the first time in IPL in their 6 games.

– Sourav Ganguly hit the 550th Six of the IPL.

– Raina became the first to go past 1300 IPL runs.

– Raina is also only player to score 400+ runs in all the three seasons of IPL.

– Chennai is the only team to qualify into Semi finals in all the three seasons of IPL.

– 145 defended by Deccan’s is the lowest total of this season, previous was 151 by RR.

– Dhoni scored his second fifty of this Season.

– CSK continue the dominance over KXIP by taking the win lead to 6-1.

– 99* between Pathan and Shaun Marsh is the highest 4th wicket partnership for KXIP in IPL.

At the end of DAY 39:

Total no.of Boundaries – 1622
Total no.of Sixes – 552

Orange Cap – Sachin Tendulkar (561) followed by J.Kallis (542) and S.Ganguly(493).
Purple Cap – Pragyan Ojha(20) followed by Amit Mishra(17) and Vinay Kumar(16).

Most Sixes – Robin Uthappa (25) followed by Yusuf Pathan (24).
Most Fours – Sachin Tendulkar(77) followed by J.Kallis (62).

IPL 3: Day 38 Review…

April 19, 2010 at 3:14 am (IPL, IPL 3)

Hi guys,

Its the final double header day in IPL season 3…. Two important games to decide their place in their final four. A day of cracker is infront of us without doubt…

Match 54 Review:

Chennai Super Kings Vs Kings XI Punjab

Chennai had a much simpler equation in front of them, either Win the match and go into semi’s or just be back next season, nothing to do or to say complicate with net runrate stuffs. Kings XI just play their last game infront their home crowd, just for pride and can say to bring their points tally to a double digit too…

Jayawardene started things from where he left out, gave a blistering start for KXIP joining Marsh, eventhough Tyagi’s brilliant catch sent Jayawardene back, it got another srilankan to replace the place, this time it skipper sanga and he too was in no mood to relax, Runs were coming in hurry and again its Ashwin who gave the breakthru by removing Sanga and followed Yuvi just for single to continue his poor run, (now i am seriously scared of his position in World T20), from then on its just runs and sixes, and flurry of boundaries all round the park. Shaun Marsh and Pathan got KXIP to 192 in 20 overs. 99 runs partnership has hurt CSK without doubt. Bowling wasn’t so impressive to worth mentioning except for Ashwin’s spell.

match 54

Chasing a target of 193 wasn’t in the mind of Dhoni for sure when he decided to bowl first, but that’s what they gotta do now, Hayden once again failed to find form, this time Murali Vijay also joined him in returning back to pavilion, Powar being the destructor for CSK, who struck two very important and crucial blows, Scorecard read 26/2 in 4 overs. Badrinath and Raina started the recovery process slowly and just when u say, this game is gonna be CSK’s, raina got himself out, in came the skipper, Badri continued to score and Dhoni warmed up around him, in the process of warming up middle overs went quite and runrate went past 13 and matching dharmsala’s mountains as time went, Badri scored his fifty and right next ball he was stumped brilliantly by Sanga of Chawla. CSK needed 44 from last 3 overs, when Morkel joined alongside his skipper, Morkel clubbed VRV Singh’s 18 over for 15 runs including two boundaries, even then 29 to get from last two, any bowler will safe to bowl with this backup score, as Juan theron bowled the penultimate over, not much with success, as Dhoni this time took for couple of boundaries scoring 13 runs in 19th over. Needing 16 runs in last over, Irfan was given the ball to bowl the tense over, with skipper Dhoni in strike, Dhoni took the first one to long off boundary, and followed with a couple with a skier, Needing 10 from four balls, Dhoni blasted 3rd one out of the Dharmsala stadium to bring the req 4 from 3, but Dhoni wasn’t cooled as he clobbered another one to reach the mountains, and thumping fist showed how important this victory was for the skipper. And now CSK becomes the only team to enter Semi’s in all the 3 seasons of IPL. Thanks to Skipper Dhoni without doubt….

IPL 3: Day 37 Review…

April 18, 2010 at 2:57 am (IPL, IPL 3) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi guys,

Its Day 37 in IPL 3… I am sure, many would have missed my updates for the past few days, even me too… To blame it on the broken internet card. No access to net, and i cant be crazy going over to net centre to have my blog updated.  Finally its all done, Here i am back to update as ever.

I am not going to ping back on the past results, will go thru from Day 37 and rest 7 matches ahead…. Gonna be a real cracker…

Match 52 Review:

Mumbai Indians Vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

A Must win game for RCB to book their semi’s berth, and they are up against a team in dream run, Just before things could get started all of a sudden Bomb scare came and few small explosions happened outside the stadium which created panic among all and delayed the proceeding, finally all started well, just with delay.

Kumble won the toss and decided to Bowl first, Bengaluru crowd knows this is the last game for them, so they were cheering their home team to core. Things went well for kumble than expected shud say, Sachin was kept quite with good bowling and just before powerplay was over, he was caught in deep by Taylor. Mclaren continued to hurdle round the wicket and kept his job simple to rotate strike and Rayudu did the explosive stuff, as he crashed bowled from the time he is in. Once again its kallis who took rayudu to put break on his run. Pollard came in to hit hattrick six, and went back to a clueless googly from Kumble. In came the real star of the day, ad JP Duminy blasted the last few overs to hit the total of 191/4 in 20 overs.

MI 191/4 in 20 overs.

A.Rayudu 46      JP.Duminy 42*
Kallis  2/41       Kumble 1/38

RCB 134/9 in 20 overs.

Kohli 37         Pieterson 21
K.Pollard 3/28      Harbhajan Singh 2/28

MI WON THE MATCH BY 57 RUNS.

Chasing a target of almost 10 an over needs a good start, but start wasn’t the idle one as expected as Pandey went for an expensive shot and caught by Zaheer, and followed Kallis, then Dravid, Pieterson, Uthappa… All the big five names are out and back to hut, u cant expect much from rest to take RCB home, Rather Kohli and Taylor just tried to pull themselves closer to the victory margin, atleast to reduce the runrate margin, but it wasn’t quite enuf for them to get past 148 runs mark which will put them above the Chennai who is second in the net runrate as of now. RCB lost 9 wickets to get themselves to 134. Kieron Pollard included 3 wickets along with his 3 sixes for the day. Mumbai winning the match by a margin of 57 runs. (Bangalore didn’t want this to happen but me and other CSK fans wanted it.. 🙂 )

Match 53 Review:

Rajasthan Royals Vs Kolkata Knight Riders

A Much much important game for Royals, in simple WIN or Exit match for them, they take on KKR who is also in same position, even though win doesn’t gurantee their place in semi’s, they will like to keep the options open till the end.

Due to delayed start in previous match, we were not able to see first four overs of the match, Royals won the toss and decided to take guard first, Watson and Ojha gave the best start to say, 57 runs in 6 overs, without a wicket loss, cant get any better for warne’s men.  On the other hand Dada was scraching his head and looking for the vital breakthru,  He called in Shukla to bowled, who gave him the gold by removing Watson, possible Yusuf too, if Karthik has held on to a stunning running catch, but wasn’t to be… But they needn’t be worried as new comer Unadkat bowled his golden spell to take off Ojha and Yusuf with brilliant delivery as well the catching. Just when all thought Royals are in comfortable zone, they succumbed adn lost wickets in hurry, and ended scoring just 132/9 in 20 overs, not to over praise the KKR bowling, to be guilt on Royals poor batting display.

RR 132/9 in 20 overs.

S.Watson 44       A.FInch 21
Unadkat 3/26       A.Dinda 2/24

KKR 133/8 in 16.1 overs.

S.Ganguly 75*         C.Pujara 45*
K.Khan 2/13      A.Finch 0/5

KKR WON THE MATCH BY 8 WICKETS.

Kolkata begin the chase with one thing in mind to wrap this game before 13 overs, which will put them above RCB in net runrate, but Royals aren’t the one’s who will let u do easily as Kamaran Khan took a double blow in the third over, picking McCullum and Gayle in 3 balls space. Ganguly slowed on after this blow, joined Pujara along side to play out a plausible knock. Dada produced some of his classic’s which are real treat to watch. Both sticked together till the end to reach the victory margin, even though they win, they didnt go for the kill, which may affect them badly, if they have a chance to make to semi’s. Dada was pretty happy with winning the game atleast in 16th over.

Standings as on IPL 3 in DAY 37:

Interesting Facts on IPL 3 in Day 37:

– Shane Bond bowled the 9th maiden over of this IPL Season.

IPL 3: Day 32 Review…

April 13, 2010 at 1:05 am (IPL, IPL 3) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi Guys,

Its Day 32 in IPL 3…

Match 46 Review:
Deccan Chargers Vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

Again and Again i have to write this, ofcourse its an important game for both, esp for deccan’s if they lose, they are out of contention for Semi’s. (Cant say though, bcos even statically speaking still KXIP in chance for making into semi’s)

Kumble won the toss and decided to Bowl first, And for his call, Steyn responded with zeal and fire in his ball, as he removed top 3 within matter of no time, (Gilly, Gibbs and in form Suman are back into hut). Mishra and Rohit Sharma led the recovery slowly and steadily, both gave the boundary and six  whenever run rate dipped much. After a miscommunication call from Rohit, Mishra had to sacrifice his wicket and walk back. Symonds came in and played his cameo and yet another fifty from Rohit sharma took Deccan past 150 in 20 overs.

DC 151/6 in 20 overs.

R.Sharma 51       M.Mishra 41
Steyn 3/18       Vinay Kumar 1/19

RCB 138/10 in 19.4 overs.

R.Dravid 49         Uthappa 34
RP.Singh 2/21      Harmeet Singh 2/24

DC WON THE MATCH BY 13 RUNS.

Kumble would have certainly taken this score during the time of toss, when he decided to bowl, now its time for batsmen to deliver, Juts when u think all is well covered, Harris stucj in the very first ball, sending Pandey back for a Golden Duck. In came Dravid and joined Kallis, I must guess ploy was to keep dravid anchor and make kallis play the attcking game, but it was the reversal role, as Dravid took and attack to the bowlers and Kallis was just idle and his strike rate never up by 100 by any time. (i shud say Kallis is taking over advantage and wasting the balls upfront which puts tremendous pressure on the late comers, just bcos u cant always have players like Uthappa to save u with 22 ball fifty), Just when dravid is abt to score his well deserved half century he was caught in the deep, but by that time, Dravid had it all covered, needing just 79 from 58 balls, which is quiet easy in T20 games, with just 2 wickets down, thats wat any one would have said at that moment, by RCB batsmen really made a mess of the chase and followed one after the other, with some brilliant bowling and fielding effort from Deccan’s. Uthappa lone man waged the battle till the penultimate over, just before harmeet turned the game upsied down in that over, as he took much important wicket and gave just a single, Actually Bangalore needed 18 when over was began with Uthappa on strike. No more twist, in the end deccan’s won the match by 13 runs. which pulls them to 5th position now, CSK is in real trouble now…. Need to win all the games,… Cant drive on others loss… 😦

Standings as on Day 32 in IPL 3:

Interesting Facts on IPL 3:

– In yesterday’s match against DD, Ramesh Powar bowled 20 Dot balls, which equals the record of most no.of dot balls bowled by Dirk Nannes.

– On the whole Match between DD and KXIP had 118 dot balls, which is the most in IPL history. Bettering Chennai vs Rajasthan’s 117.

– RP Singh became the first bowler to pick 50 wicket in IPL.

– Kallis went past Sachin and took back the Orange cap.

– Just 1 run given in the penultimate ouver is the best so far bowled in this season, better Kumble’s 4 run over.

At the end of DAY 32:

Total no.of Boundaries – 1340
Total no.of Sixes – 468

Orange Cap – J.Kallis (528) followed by Sachin Tendulkar (512) and S.Ganguly(366).

IPL 3: Day 31 Review…

April 12, 2010 at 1:34 am (IPL, IPL 3) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi Guys,

Its Day 31 in IPL 3…. Another Double Header Sunday…

Match 44 Review:
Kings XI Punjab VS Delhi Daredevils

Kings XI wouldn’t mind pulling another upsetter here today, on the othre side, Gambhir dont want to leave the things to the end… As he won the toss and decided to Bat first in Kotla track. (Avg score here is 190). Shewag walked out with Warner to start the things, To correct myself, Nothing started as Shewag gone in the very first ball he faced, Skipper came in place of him, he did play a fine innings with boundaries flowing from his bat, All of a sudden came the twist or the bad luck for Delhi, as two of the Delhi Batsmen ran themselves out in space of 3 balls. From then on, no looking back as KXIP tied knots so tight and runs dried up and nothing went in the way for Delhi, As One after the Other Walked back to Pavilion, Excellent Bowling from KXIP shud say, as Spinners spinned the web and casted them. Karthik played a Placid innings scoring 17 from 35 balls. Late play from Mithun Manhas got past them to three figures. As Delhi failed to complete their 20 overs quota aggregated Nelson score. 111 in 19.4 overs.

DD 111/10 in 19.4 overs.

Gambhir 26       M.Manahas 26
P.Chawla 2/16     I. Pathan 3/24

KXIP 112/3 in 18.4 overs.

K.Sangakarra 33       Jayawardene 38
Collingwood 2/16      A.Mishra 1/15

KXIP WON THE MATCH BY 7 WICKETS.

Chasing the score less than six an over is always tricky, as u end up playing very slowly and finally seeing ur run per over raising over 8 and ending up with a tough chase, may be even losing it. But that’s not the script for KXIP chase today, They did start off brilliantly with Jayawardene and never once allowed run rate to pop up over six at any point of time, calm and collective innings from all the batsmen, didn’t try to blast the bowlers, they know their targets and all did the things in style to pull another Upsetter.  No one to mention in spl, in  a low target chasing game, Sangakarra, Yuvi, Jayawardene  all did fair to their job. Nothing much from bowling, rather than delaying the victory till 19th over. DD now needs to win 2 out of their remaining 3 games for semi’s spot. Its getting more closer as the days go on…

Match 45 Review:
Mumbai Indians Vs Rajasthan Royals

Once again its the clash between two very old rivalries, Shane Warne Vs Sachin Tendulkar, remember the last match, more than 400 runs have been scored right in the day 2 of this season IPL. Check this link for more – https://rams4u.wordpress.com/2010/03/14/ipl-3-day-2-review/

Mumbai got back Veteran Jayasuriya back in the squad, he opened with Sachin, but Jayasuriya failed to impress as he was caught just for 1, soon Rayudu followed back Pavilion in the same over, Watson being the double striker. Tiwary played few shots down the ground, before he too perished to a shorter delivery from Watson, Responsibility came in the shoulders of Sachin and Duminy to rescue the team, They both stood together to do the job, Both did bat out the middle overs brilliantly and gathered run in decent pace.Duminy was out in the 13th over, when he mistimed a pull of trivedi. Pollard played a cameo but the real Star of the Mumbai is Sachin without doubt, from over 1 to over 20 he hold the game together and gave the momentum it needed, After 20 overs he remained unbeaten on 89, overtaking Kallis for the Orange cap. Bowling except Shane watson none look to build on the early road opened,  Even Warne failed to create magic.

MI 174/5 in 20 overs.

Sachin 89*         JP Duminy 31
S.Watson 3/37     Trivedi 1/35

RR 137/8 in 20 overs.

A.Voges 28           A.Dole 30
Zaheer 2/17      K.Pollard 1/19

MI WON THE MATCH BY 37 RUNS.

Chasing 175 runs, Royals got off to a worst possible start losing 3 of their best batsmen back to pavilion in no time, Two good deliveries and one bad call costed Rajasthan dearly, Shane watson paid the price for the bad call from Fazal, After some time, Fazal paid for his fault, as he was ran out by Abshiek, and it continued to him too… 3 run out in a row hurt Royals down, finally their only hope Yusuf came in, he started off with a six of Pollard, but the very next ball, Mumbai closed the match as he was caught in close fine leg Harbhajan easily. Not to blame any one from here, just batted to reduced the trailing runs, Dole tried to compensate for his missed catch of Sachin, but its all late, as Mumbai roared the match by 37 runs and became the first team to enter into the semis of this season. I will certainly say, Sachin as a lone man taken Mumbai to the semi’s…Rajasthan could have fancied their chances better if Aditya Dole holded on to a catch offered by Sachin in 45.

Standings as on Day 31 in IPL 3:

Interesting Facts on DAY 31 in IPL 3:

IPL 3: Day 30 Review..

April 11, 2010 at 2:49 am (IPL, IPL 3) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi guys….

Its Day 30 in IPL and its a Double Header…

Match 42 Review:
Chennai Super Kings Vs Deccan Chargers

As i keep writing, yep its another Must win game for Deccan and almost same for Chennai as well. Dhoni won the toss and decided to Bat first in a 42 degree sun shining hot. To say the crowd in the stadium is quite less and v can see many stands empty. (may be bcos of heat r may be bcos of 2maro IIT entrance exam) Hayden and Vijay started things quite ok, few boundaries came in, just when Chennai is ant to take control, Hayden one again failed and followed Murali with the craziest call for second run and ran himself out. Raina joined Skipper, but didnt capitalise on the start they had, they were quite happy playing singles around. Dhoni was more troubled than raina. He wasn’t fluent as he is used to, it did reflect when he missed a straighter one from Ojha. From then on, Deccan’s bowled brilliantly and didnt allow CSK to score even singles, field placing were excellent, as it didnt allow batsmen to free their arms, Raina tried a bit after scoring his fifty, but he too failed like the rest in the batting line up. Ending to a meagre total of just 138.

CSK 138/8 in 20 overs.

Raina 52       M.Vijay 23
R.Harris 3/18     Rp Singh 1/18

DC 139/4 in 19.1 overs.

T.Suman 55         Symonds 27*
R.Ashwin 2/13      Raina  1/23

DC WON THE MATCH BY 6 WICKETS.

Gilly was certainly happy and will like end with the same note. Dhoni started with Ashwin, (he did read the pitch very well) as Ashwin bowled really well and did pick both the opener with two beauties. When Gilly knicked one today, even now, he didnt hesitate to walk away, which he did all his career. Suman and Rohit Sharma played quiet to stop chennai from taking wickets away, since the target wasn’t so high, even few singles here and there kept the req rate always at control. Rohit was dismissed to brilliant catch by Tyagi, In came Symonds who won the last game for Chargers, Both the match winners Suman and Symo, took the assault lately and closed the winning gap boundary by boundary and even by few sixes. Eventhough Suman was dismissed lately, Symonds made sure nothing dramatic happen and Chargers pulled a much needed win to keep their hope still alive. Without doubt Murali shud have been preferred more than Hussey, as Chennai missed his bowling dearly, in a pitch where a part timer Ashwin can make magic, think of Murali Mantra…. Might have been chennai’s game if he was in… Now its all done, which means 3 games left and Chennai need to pull all those three for semi’s slot.

Match 43
Royal Challengers Bangalore Vs Kolkata Knight Riders

Win fro any team will take them to top 4 and getting into semi’s would be much easier. Kumble won the toss and decided to have a ball infront. Two Big G’s started the things for KKR, as ever Gayle was devastating and his shots reached fence in a eye blink. Just when thinks are going out of hand, Kumble called Orange Cap holder to give him a wicket, ofcourse he responded with Big Gayle in his very second ball. (Can some one say what if Kallis is also the leading wicket taker, will he wear both the caps…?) Ganguly continued with McCullum for next few overs and runs to came in quick, Vinay Kumar picked Ganguly with a slower delivery, Tiwary and Mathews followed the suit and walked back to dug out, as Momentum swung back to RCB.  But McCullum had few pyrotechnics to show which got back the momentum to KKR, Another twist came as Kumble picked McCullum, finally two lusty hits from Pujara seen them past 160/9 in 20 overs.

KKR 154/9 in 20 overs.

McCullum 45       C.Gayle  34
V.Kumar 3/23     J.Kallis 2/31

RCB 164/3 in 17.1 overs.

R.Dravid 52         R.Uthappa 52*
A.Dinda 2/15      Mathews 1/25

RCB WON THE MATCH BY 7 WICKETS.

Challengers Chasing the target of 161, had a very much disappointing start as Kallis went back to pavilion with his lowest score(8) in this season. To make the balance Dravid walked in place of Kallis, O Boy he did fill in the shoes very apt, very much calculated aggression and defence, which is almost like precision knife in his hands, played down good balls to singles and punished the counter parts. His Breezy fifty was the big plus for RCB. Just when things were going in RCB’s way, Both Sriram and Dravid got out, and RCB had two best finishers, Robin Uthappa and Ross Taylor, they ensured that their name stand out for it… Esp Robin, as he played a devastating innings to put KKR into misery. (I think last time i see a reverse sweep going for a six, is from Kevin Pieterson, seems his words are helping Robin out) Fifty in 22 balls ensured RCB cross the line much more comfortable than it was. RCB won the match by 7 wickets….
