May 12, 2013 at 10:55 pm (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi…

Double header again on IPL, in  no time its Match 58 & 59. 13 more to go after today…

Game 1, Another PWI’s dismal show and this time against mighty Mumbai Indians. PWI scored 112 in 20 overs which is not even a contest for Mumbai even though continued to pick wickets in regular interval. Over & all one thing to mention is Mumbai finally fielded their Million dollar man Glenn Maxwell as Pollard was injured. Misery Mitchell finished the neat job for Mumbai in the first innings to set the tone and Bhajji finished it with a Bhagnam dance to move second spot in points table.

Mumbai Indians won the match by 5 wickets with 7 balls to spare…

Game 2, Sunrisers took on KXIP on a very important game, Being a must win game, Sunriser’s finally came good with bat, thanks to Parthiv patel 61 and late contribution from Perara. 150 exactly on the board, KXIP on a tricky chase lost Mandeep early, however none of KXIP batsmen showed no hurry in chase and went in a very slow pace, which back fired them in the end. Even Pomersbach being not out in crease didn’t help in the course of victory. Sunrisers won the game comfortably in the end.

Sun Risers Hyderabad won the match by 30 runs…

IPL 6: Day 36–Raina powers CSK to qualifiers…

May 9, 2013 at 1:38 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi…

As expected Chennai became the first team to qualify for the play offs. Sun risers won the toss and decided to field first. But Sanga’s decision to bowl first was good for just first 6 balls. Murali Vijay then took Ishant for hat trick of sixes. Later he departed, Hussey & raina displayed a subliminal form of batting. A pleasure it was when Raina was striking it exactly in the covers of off side where field will not be able to get too. Raina finished the innings with a boundary and left stranded in 99*. CSK scoring a mammoth 223/4 in 20 overs.. Sunrisers never looked like chasing at any point of time, Dhawan was the man who could have pulled out some miracles but spot on Dhoni removed him cheaply, later it was a procession and CSK sealed the deal as the time passed.

Chennai Super Kings won the match by 77 runs…

IPL 6: Day 29– Ishant’s Spell & Warner’s fifty helps to cross the line…

May 2, 2013 at 12:41 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi…

Game 1, Sunrisers take on Mumbai Indians, Mumbai won the toss and decided to bat first, but you should ask why did they…? Dwayne Smith, Rohit, and even Pollard found it difficult to get going, not to leave SRH bowled really well, but not the extent where your strike rate should be less than 100. Few lusty blows by Rayudu made sure they had 129/4 on the board. Chase was never a problem with Dhawan anchoring the innings throughout from ball 1 to ball 108, scoring 73 in 55 balls. He was well supported by Sangakarra and Vihari with 20’s. Fiery spell from Ishant Sharma earned him the Man of Match. Sunrisers won the match hands down and making the 4th team to join the 12 points list.

Sun Risers Hyderabad won the match by 7 wickets with 12 balls to spare…

Game 2, Delhi takes on KKR, another team won the toss and decided to bat first, if you think earlier in the day was a blunder, then you need to come up with a more than that for this KKR’s innings. Disastrous start by losing the skipper without even facing a ball for a Diamond Duck. KKR were 84.6 in 15 overs and going no where. Late strike from bowlers made sure they scored 136/7 in 20 overs. Even though Delhi lost both the openers in quick succession Unmukt Chand & Warner’s 95 runs partnership got Delhi almost close to victory. Delhi also have to thank KKR fielders for putting down catches and fielding pathetically.  Delhi won the second game in Raipur back to back fifties from David Warner earned him the Man of the Match.

Delhi Daredevils won the match by 7 wickets with 13 balls to spare…

Standings as on DAY 29:

image

Interesting Stats IPL 6 Day 29:

– Shikhar Dhawan scored the 15th IPL fifty and second for this season.

– Strike rate of 73.68 by Pollard is his worst in IPL career, when he has scored more than 10 runs.

– 100 runs scored in 17 overs by Mumbai Indians is the slowest for this season.

– Amit Mishra continues to top the wicket takers list, now he has 90 wickets, followed by Malinga with 89.

– Ishant Sharma & Irfan Pathan bowled the 25th & 26th Maidens of this season.

– It is 11th time Sachin has been dismissed in the form of bowled in IPL, and it is third for this season.

– KKR had 60 dot balls today, which is second highest for this season, PWI has 61 dot bals.

– Sumit Narwal scored his career best 23 runs, till today he has scored only 14 runs in IPL.

– Gambhir becomes the 5th batsmen to be dismissed for Diamond duck, the other four were Kallis, Gony, Mishra & Rayudu. This is also 14th time Gambhir has been dismissed in the form of Run out.

– 37/3 by KKR in the powerplay overs is the least for them in this season.

– Unmukt Chand scored the 1200th boundary for this season.

– Unmukt Chand’s 37 runs is his best score in IPL career, his previous best was 23 runs.

– Both the teams batting first started the innings with a boundary and ended up on the losing side and both the teams chasing won the match by 7 wickets.

At the end of DAY 29 in IPL 6:

Total no. of Boundaries – 1203

Total no. of Sixes – 367

Till now Sunrisers are having easy opponents to face off, But when met the defending champions, It was not to be… KKR’s top order ensured runs are on the board by the end of 20 overs and bowlers made sure they win the match with a Big margin… It was actually as easy as I have written..

Kolkata Knight Riders won the match by 48 runs…

Switching to Jaipur Sawai Mansingh Stadium so called fortress of Royals remained intact even after the game, As Kings XI failed to breach the Wall… A Low Scoring match, as Punjab was bowled out in 18.4 overs for meagre 124 runs, which gave Royals enough time to chase through even after a blistering start from Watson, Royals kept the hunt alive till 19.2 overs and finally crossed the line to get themselves to 3rd place in the table.

– 71 runs scored between 15 to 20 overs by KKR is the highest ever for them in Eden gardens.

– With a six of Narine today, Thisara Perara is among the 11 others who have scored a six against Sunil Narine’s Bowling. Added fact Suresh Raina is the only Batsmen to hit Narine for 2 sixes.

– KKR’s victory margin of 48 runs is the highest for them in Eden gardens, bettering 47 runs victory Vs RCB in last season.

April 13, 2013 at 12:01 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , )

Hi..

Another low scoring thriller, Thanks to Sunrisers Hyderabad for making it happen. Delhi Batsmen never got going on a flat pitch and continued to loose the wicket at wrong time to make it worse. No one got going which eventually meant they scored just 115/8 in 20 overs. Chasing a easy target Sun Risers made sure crowd got the money’s worth and produced a meaty chase with pathetic display of batting and almost threw the match away. Until Amit Mishra who is also a recent double centurion in Ranji Trophy ensured Sun Risers scrambled through the line of victory.

IPL 5: Day 46 – Deccan’s Play Perfect Spoilers & Mumbai adds icing to the tour…

May 21, 2012 at 12:26 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2012, IPL 5) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi all,

Last day of League games, tiresome cricket over 6 weeks or so and it all boils down to last two matches of the season, One being very important for 2 teams mainly and other inconsequential game at the end of the day.

Match 71:

Deccan Chargers Vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

A Must win game for Bangalore, They have to win this game to enter playoff’s and on the process they will knock CSK out of the league for the first time even without making off to the playoff’s. On the other side, Deccan’s have a chance to better themselves and place themselves at eighth spot rather than being the wooden spooners.

Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to Field first, as he called RCB made early inroads by removing inform opener Dhawan for just 5, and followed Aksath Reddy & Cameron White with troubling much of the score, as DC were 20/3 in 4 overs.  Sanga along with Duminy tried to restore the middle order with some slow paced innings as DC crossed 50 runs in 11 overs.  Duminy played an important hand in the process and gave DC a modest total to defend. Chargers finished with 132/7 in 20 overs.

The way RCB fans look at this score is, it’s just 4 more runs higher than Gayle would score (he scored 128* in 62 balls last match). As always Gayle started off in blistering fashion as he plundered 24 runs in the second over of the match, it almost looked match will be over by the first strategic time, if Gayle can continue his assault. But it wasn’t the case as Steyn this time ruffled Gayle and picked up with a well directed bouncer to inside edge into stumps, 6 balls later he picked up the fellow opener Dilshan to a very straight delivery who swung hard and missed right infront of the stumps. Mishra picked a couple more wickets esp the one of De villers to put pressure back on RCB. At this moment 57/4 in 10 overs. Kohli & Tiwary played from then sensibly found boundaries when ever needed, until Kohli had a mind freeze who slogged to Long off and get caught right after hitting a six. Tiwary tried his level best, but failed to with hold the pressure surmounting. As RCB failed to reach the target by 9 runs, which eventually turned out to be the killer knock for them.  This win also means that Deccan will not finish at the bottom of the table as they will go past Pune and hold eighth position now.

RCB out of the tournament which means CSK is into Playoff’s, having to see three matches to go their way and now they are into Playoff’s. Certainly Dhoni is a lucky fellow. Chennai will owe a lot to Deccan’s they have won two games out of no where. Thanks has to be presented to Amit Mishra & I can’t miss the person who breathe fire in bowling Dale Steyn. Only these gentlemen made this happen.

Deccan Chargers won the game by 9 Runs…

Match 72:

Rajasthan Royals Vs Mumbai Indians

Not much of a hype around this game, as its not going to make any difference for anyone. Though Mumbai want to win the game and keep the momentum going their way, Royals will like to finish one more to feature in the W column of the table.

Dravid won the toss and decided to Bat first, Not a great start though as both openers walked when score was 31 in 5 overs. Binny & Watson played sensible cricket, but both had to depart when they tried to up the runrate. Shah & Menaria played few important shot and finally Rajasthan finished with 162 runs on the board.

Mumbai know they have to win this one strongly to take the confidence into Playoff’s. As it said Sachin & Smith started doing it in style but with some luck added to it. None of the edges carried to the fielder always falling on the no man’s land. Even if one carried where Watson dropped it, That was the kind of day Royals had in field, their bowling looked very much clumsy, fielding was more shabbier than ever. Trivedi had picked up the wicket of Smith just after he crossed his fifty but to his agony it was a no ball. Nothing stopped them as they sped past the winning runs with 12 balls to spare.

Mumbai Indians won the match by 10 wickets with 12 balls to spare…

Final League Standings of IPL season 5:

Four  Teams (Metros) who will play out for the cup is Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians & Chennai Super Kings…

Interesting facts as on Day 46:

–          Dwayne Smith scored his Maiden fifty in his IPL career.

–          Dhwan Kulkarni bowled the 27th Maiden of this season.

–          Mumbai have utilised eight opening pairs for this season, highest ever by any team, on the contrary Rajasthan Royals used only one opening pair (Dravid & Rahane throughout the tournament)

–          This is the first 10 wicket victory for this season of IPL.

–          163 runs between Sachin Tendulkar & Dwayne Smith for the first wicket is the highest ever in IPL history, bettering 159 runs between Michael Hussey & Murali Vijay against RCB in last edition.

–          This is the first time out of 18 occasions Rajasthan have failed to defend a target of 160+.

–          Deccan Chargers won their third game in their home ground in Hyderabad. Out of three victories two have come against RCB and one was against Rajasthan Royals.

–          Sachin Tendulkar scored his second IPL fifty of this season, first was against CSK, where again both these men Dwayne Smith & Sachin stole the victory from the jaws of defeat.

IPL 5: Day 32 – Dwayne Smith & ABdV pull off nail biting HEISTS for home teams…

May 7, 2012 at 12:35 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2012, IPL 5) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi all,

If u have missed the Day 32 in IPL 5… Certainly its worth watching again in Youtube… Don’t Miss it, provided u aren’t a Chennai & Deccan fan. 🙂

Match 49:

Chennai Super Kings Vs Mumbai Indians

With Points table in an hustle, Chennai needed to win this to keep themselves safe and ahead of others. Same the case for Mumbai as well.

Bhajji won the toss and decided to bowl first in Wankade Stadium, Mumbai. Chennai got off to a poor running as Du plessis went as a dead duck to a poor call from Murali Vijay’s call, how veer he made it with some good hitting after that. Raina, Bravo & Dhoni joined the party to make a good score, Malinga’s bowling in death was accurate as ever, where Mumbai conceded only 13 runs in last 12 balls bowled.

Mumbai started off with a maiden by Franklin, once he departed, Sachin joined Rohit Sharma and displayed once of the classy knock you could watch all day long, one word to describe was they were cruising to victory like a space ship. When Tendulkar was caught by brilliance of Faf, Mumbai needed 40 runs of 25 balls, Easy u would say with 8 wickets in hand, But CSK kept their nerves to pick up bunch of wickets from then, as Mumbai need 16 runs in last over. Ben Hilfenhaus bowled the first three balls beautifully for just 2 runs & a wicket, but next three balls was absolute blenders as he fed the hungry Dwanye smith with full tosses and he ate CSK and burped for 6,4,4 to win the game for Mumbai.

Mumbai Indians won the game by 2 wicket in the last ball.

Match 50:

Deccan Chargers vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

Deccan already in the party spoilers list nothing much to think about, RCB has to win this one without doubt, if not they will fall behind in the end of this season.

Vettori dropped himself for Murali to come in, Kohli capped the RCB team and won the toss and decided to field first.

Dr.Danial Harris got a game and he showed his master-class in the opening slots, by finding over the fence more than couple of times, Dhawan as well was in good knick as both piled on the runs. Another mix up with the opening pairs, as this time it was Danial harris who has to make a long walk back. White joined the dance and Sanga ended with a upbeat to finish with 181/1 in 20 overs

RCB again started of well, Dilshan being the aggressor and Gayle was rotating strike around him, When Gayle was about to explode, DC go this wicket, very soon they picked up Kohli with a stunning catch from Dale Styen. 78 runs from 36 balls, it was almost game for DC, until one man from South africa decided against it, AB de Villers smacked all around the park, esp the 18th over by Dale Steyn went for 23 runs which really turned match on its head. To say in the end RCB won the game more than comfortable with 7 balls to spare. One & Only AB de Villers could have done that as he smacked 47 runs from 17 balls.

RCB won the match by 5 wickets with 7 balls to spare…

Hi all,

Match 46:

Chennai Super Kings Vs Deccan Chargers

A Must win game for the Champions to stay in contention, With points table being tightly packed, every game for every one is important. Not the same for the opposition as they already qualified for the party spoilers list, however two back to back wins, will boost their confidence and will look it to make it three in a row.

Dhoni won the coin and decided to bat first, typical Chennai wicket, can’t expect anything else from the captain winning the toss. Chennai dropped Hussey for Ben Hilfenhaus and Saha made way for Vijay, who opened the innings with in form opener Faf, Just when Murali vijay was looking good, thrown his wicket away for 14. Raina joined faf to rotate the strike and clear fences quite sometimes as well, as they got 64 runs between two. Dhoni who didn’t impress much played a handy knock and Bravo finished with a flourish as CSK ended with 160 runs on board. DC bowled well to keep CSK at this score as they looked for much more in the half way time.

Again a early blow for DC as they lost Parthiv Patel for 1, where the score was 9/1 in 2 overs, it should have been easily 9/2 if Albie haven’t spilled a return catch from White. Dhawan along with White made sure run rate was under control and played around CSK bowlers very well. Until Bravo found a bizzare way of getting Dhawan out after he booted a tough catch to runners end stumps to find Dhawan out of crease. Tha man with golden arm Raina this time turned gold again as he plucked Sangakarra with a brilliant return on handed catch. Game was gone by then, White tried his level best bring DC back, once he fell short of gas while trying to get a second to keep strike. Its all done. As CSK won the match by 10 runs.

Chennai Super Kings won the match by 10 runs….
