IPL 6: Day 37–Cooper’s Slower delivery & Gambhir’s late fifty highlights the day…

May 10, 2013 at 12:37 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

A very important game for three side to be in playoff’s on a double header day.

Game 1, KXIP took on Royals, both needing a win, especially KXIP. Dravid won the coin and decided to field first as he always wanted to be. KXIP lost Mandeep Singh in the very first over, which meant Skipper Gilly who is back in the side has to put down his natural game and has to consolidate with his country man Marsh. That’s what happened as both put on a century stand but in 13 overs, not very much likely for a destructive pair. None other than these were worth mentioning as KXIP ended less than par score of 145/6 in 20 overs. Cooper picked a 3/23 in 4 overs. Dravid went early with just 5 runs on the board, But Rahane & Watson continued their good form to build a platform of 66 runs between which allowed Sanju samson along with Rahane to finish the match with an over to spare. This win also means Royals are almost into playoff, provided some one doesn’t play a bluff.

Rajasthan Royals won the match 8 wickets with 6 balls to spare…

Game 2, KKR needed a win just to keep their mathematical hope alive as KXIP lost the previous match. Skipper Gambhir finally played a more sensible innings along with Ten Doeschate to keep KKR scoreboard moving Late strike from Bhatia & Tiwary made sure KKR crossed 150, as they ended 152/6 in 20 overs. As usual Pune continued to display a poor & pathetic performance with bat. Uthappa & Mathews scored couple of 30’s apart from that nothing to highlight in the Pune’s batting card.

Kolkata Knight Riders won the match by 46 runs…

IPL 5: DAY 12 – Victory for Gilly’s nerve & Dravid’s homecoming…

April 16, 2012 at 1:07 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2012, IPL 5) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi all,

Another fascinating day in IPL 5…

Match 17:

Kings XI Punjab Vs Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR playing in Eden gardens, having won the last game comfortable, they will look to repeat the same for their home crowds. Gilly on the other hand will lokk to take this one game at this time.

Gambhir won the coin and decided to chase, and doesn’t want to change the winning formula. Nothing much to write about batting, apart from being dismal. Mandeep Singh & David Hussey tried to get the team to three figures and last two overs being really good, KXIP reached 134/9 in 20 overs. Sunil Narine was fantastic with ball to pick up his maiden 5 wicket haul in IPL.

Having nothing score to defend in the turning pitch is really a tough ask, but thanks to KKR batsmen as they made it look easy, as they complimented the bowling by just throwing away the wickets and not rotating the strikes. All the KKR fans in eden will be kicking themselves, as they saw Need 13 to win from 12 ball with 4 wickets in hand, its a game anyone will finish off, even by singles. As I said KKR batsmen again gave it all away and scored 10 runs in those 12 balls. Leaving 2 short of victory.

KXIP won the game by 2 runs. Gilly will not be disappointed by any means.

Match 18:

Rajasthan Royals Vs Royal Challenges Bangalore

Its an home coming for captain Dravid, and he will be playing against his home team. RCB needing a win badly, having lost the last match to Chennai in a unexpected way, they will look to pull this one for the home crowd. Royals may differ though.

Dravid won the coin with a big cheer from the crowd, may be they want Dravid to win the coin alone. And of course he chose to bat first. Rahane and Dravid started sedately, as 61 runs came in 10 overs, Dravid being more sedated partner in it. Once he is dismissed, Owasis Shah joined Rahane joined for the record partnership of this season to take the game away from RCB. Both cleared boundaries in ease, especially Rahane was a wonderful find, he looked delicate and stylish on his way to first century of this season. Shah made 60 from 26 balls to leave RCB tottering in pain. As Royals ended with 195/2 in 20 overs. Rahane walked out 103 not out.

Again having to replicate the later innings to win the game, RCB tried their best to replicate it though, but wickets at regular intervals never helped their cause. Not to leave out the credit to some straight bowling from Royals, as they found stumps 6 occasions out of 10 to go. Overall a disappointing effort for home team, but the home boy Dravid walked out happily with a victory margin of 59 runs. Thanks to Rahane for a wonderful knock.
