April 29, 2011 at 11:50 pm (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2011, IPL 4) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi Guys,

Match 34, Classic Rivals Sachin takes on Warne on their home ground, Start wasn’t so good for Mumbai as they lost Sachin very early to Ashok Menaria, Royals bowled very tight lines and gave nothing to score runs as they came in singles mostly, As every1 tried to accelerate they went back to pavilion, which meant 17 runs from Symonds was the highest score of Mumbai’s heavy batting line up, Which really meant Mumbai finally settled for the lowest ever IPL score 94/8 in 20 overs. Chase was so simple as Watson and Botha completed the formalities to chase down 95 runs with 7 wickets and 11 balls to spare.

Match 35, From Jaipur to Bangalore, Another skipper won the toss and decided to bowl first, Warne was right to make the decision as his bowlers restricted Mumbai to a total which is the lowest of all times for them, but it wasn’t the same for PWI Skipper Yuvi as they were scattered all over by Kohli and Gayle, esp the latter played an excellent knock, he pulled, drove, and punished the Pune’s bowler. RCB ended their innings at 181/5 in 20 overs. PWI began their chase nervously but couldn’t hold on for long, as Ryder went after a well played fifty, Yuvi and Uthappa tried to come closer, but didn’t help much them to save them from heading to a straight 5th defeat in their opening season of IPL. RCB won the game by 26 runs comfortably.

Standings as on DAY 22:

IPL 4: DAY 21 Review…

April 29, 2011 at 12:46 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2011, IPL 4) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi Guys,

Match 33, Bottom of the table Delhi taken on Kolkata in an important game, Delhi Bowled much better than any other game so far in the IPL, which restricted KKR to 149 in 20 overs, Without doubt Shewag was the happy man at that moment, But Shewag couldn’t keep his content for long, as his team gave wicket in regular intervals to lose the momentum and finally falling 17 runs short. Which gave KKR a imp 2 points to go up to the place 2, and unfortunately Delhi will still hung in the bottom of the table and they will be needing min of 5 wins out 7 have in hand.

STANDINGS AS ON DAY 21:

image

Interesting facts on DAY 21:

– Yusuf Pathan played his 50th IPL game and Travis Brit made the IPL debut.

– It took 26 overs to have a spinner bowl today… Without doubt a surprising fact and Delhi becomes the first team in this season to finish of their bowling without even bowling a spinner.

– Gambhir, Shewag, & Venugopal Rao went past 200 runs in this IPL.

– Irfan’s 4-0-16-1 is his second most economical T20 performance in 75 games, when he has bowled 4 overs. The last time he did it was in the 2007 WT20 final.

– This is the first time Delhi has lost 5 games on a trot in an IPL season.

– 13th game won batting first in IPL season 4 and 19 games won batting second, hopefully trend of winning the toss and chasing is changing.

Hi guys,

Match 31, Chennai taking on Pune again after two days here in DY patil Stadium, Nothing much changed, just this time Pune batted first and scored just 1 run less than the CSK’s score in Chennai, 141/6 in 20 overs, And in reply Chennai lost Hussey early, But Vijay and Badri Steadied the middle innings and Badri with Raina finished the final few overs in ease to win with 8 wickets to spare, Win Which takes Chennai right on top to the second spot.

Match 32, Another game where Kochi had no answer to inspired bowling from Ishant sharma, Not much to say as Deccan’s played so poorly so that they managed to score just 130 runs and Kochi to say was taken aback by the Dumbstruck bowling of Ishant Sharma who rocked the Kochi’s in their own place, Not to leave out Steyn who picked 3 wickets to his name too. Overall a pathetic display of batting from KTK to end their innings at third ever lowest IPL score, also to add 6 ducks to their innings. DC won the match by 55 runs.

Standings as on DAY 20:

– 37/3 in 10 overs by DC is lowest scored in the IPL season 4.

– 74 is the overall 3rd time lowest score in IPL, 58 runs is the lowest score in IPL scored by Rajasthan Royals.

– For the first time in IPL had 5 Maiden’s bowled in a single day.

– 3-0-12-5 by Ishant Sharma is the third time best bowling figures in IPL so far, Sohail Tanvir 6/14 leads followed by Kumble’s 5/5.

– 6 ducks in an innings is the highest ever in an IPL game so far, previous was 5 by Delhi and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Hi Guys,

Another single game day, thankfully too, i had to blog abt the yesterday’s one too, so bit less work to do… What to do yaar, Month end works catching up….

Another close game, thanks to Warner and Hopes, Delhi looked like they got some kind of curse, they can’t even win now in their home pitches. With Hopes getting his fifty Delhi lurked beyond 160, with late lusty blows from 1.9Mn Irfan. Gayle and Kohli looked to finish the game and get ready for the party as they went abt 10 to 12 runs per over. Few poor shot, excellent fielding all seems to have pulled back the game for Delhi, but it wasn’t so, as Skipper Vettori and Syed got RCB past the winning run with 3 wickets in hand, Which delighted the owner Sid Mallya who shared with his lady love Deepika Padukone with a gapless HUG….

Standings as on DAY 19:

image

Interesting facts on DAY 19:

IPL 4: DAY 18 Review…

April 27, 2011 at 1:31 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2011, IPL 4) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi Guys,

To say lucky in the very last moment and thanks to the unknown faces who decided not to watch the match in stadium… Myself and my team got the tickets in the very last moment, in simple an over has been bowled in stadium. Somehow made it to the stadium and without doubt its gonna go down as one of the best match of this season.

I just say that only for one reason, Chennai’s fielding… Awesome man, Diving, Flying, Rolling, Mudding, Whatever u name it to stop the ball, it was there, even 142 (a very very par score in Chennai Pitch) looked like 180 odd. I certainly have no doubt CSK could have saved abt 25-30 runs in the field, Which was the match eventually.

Last time IPL in stadium was KXIP Vs CSK, Which ended in draw, KXIP winning in the super over with yuvi’s reverse sweep. Once again Yuvi was threatening to repeat the history, but luck ran out soon… CSK won the match by handsome 25 runs…

CSKu Whisle Podu Mammmmmmu……..

Standings as on DAY 18:

Hi Guys,

Surprised just one game on a Saturday evening, But i am sure none was disappointed has we had a run fest in Delhi.

Languishing in the bottom of the table Delhi certainly needed something spl to bring their sprits up and it was the day, Gilly won the coin and felt something is there for bowlers and went for chase and it did show how well they misread the pitch. Shewag and Warner amazed 146 for first wicket, before Shewag wanted 6 sixes in an over got caught in long on. Warner, Venugopal Rao, Ojha, all did their part to get Delhi to their highest ever total in IPL so far. 231/4 in 20 overs, Chasing almost 2 runs a ball right from the start is very tough but Punjab was in no mood to give up, as Gilly and Marsh kept going and found the crowd profusely, esp the latter. As said, it wasn’t easy though KXIP came very close to that, by reaching 202/6 in 20 overs, not a bad chase though. Finally Delhi will have a reason to smile after losing three games on a trot, still they are right in the bottom but not by much. Very soon this table will turn on its head. Watch out guys.
