GOA – Vacation enjoyed in parts…

January 30, 2010 at 11:00 am (Experiences, Movies) (, , , , , , , , , )

Hi guys,

Another Venkat prabhu’s Movie produced by Ocher Studios Soundarya Rajinikanth, which kept the audience to wait  is finally its out today…..

Another movie for me away from Pondicherry, this time, its Thirupathur Sri Meenakshi theatre was the chosen one… Night show and not a big crowd was a very big plus point and we (myself, prasanna and swami) joined the rest of them to watch the movie….

GOA – Movie Review:

Three Aimless guys (Premji, Jai and Raghav) tries to escape from their village and wishes to live a free life, but who are denied the same. For the first 30 mins, u get the feeling, ur into a film of periods, which funnily portraits the melodramatic happenings in the period films…

Finally 3 make a way out to Madurai, where they see Jai’s friend getting married to a foreign girl whom he met in Goa,which woes all three to get a aim for aimless guys, such that, they will go to Goa and marry a foreign girl and move along with her.

All three makes to Goa, with the help from locallite Aravind(Jack) along with Sampath (Danny), three keeps their goal ahead and move on, Premji, Jai and Raghav gets their pair Miranda, Aegan girl and Sneha respectively with the series of events happening around them.

Movie is bundled package showing how hero’s get their respective pairs and what happens in the end is what Goa have in the theatre for u….

Things which slow down the movie are mainly four things,

1. Portrayal of Gay type relationship in the movie,

2. Film in whole misses a common point, just goes aimlessly without any ray to hold on, just jumps like flubber from one scene to another, from one character to another and so on. Plus no strong links have been established for any bonding for the couples. (u can’t expect in a movie of this type… yet again)

3. A serious breakdown was Song, which could have been much better, even though visuals looks cool to eyes, Songs seriously doesn’t catch up the mind, rather its been a disturbing element / speed breaker’s in the movie.

4. Characterization and  very less utilization of the heroines, U dont see any of the three heroines more than 3 to 4 mins in the screen in action. (may be song is an exception then)

But things which u ll enjoy in the movie are, Premji Amaran performance with Kangal Irandal BGM and many more in the follow ups and not to forget the awesome stunt performance by him, then damn sure timing comedy has clicked again for the Venkat’s team. Hats off for that… 🙂

In the end Audience get a pleasant shock by seeing Nayanthara and Simbu in guest appearance and Simbu’s link with Manmadhan film was excellent piece of work.

GOA is a happy and bumpy ride to enjoy if ur free with 3 hours of 100% free time… if not then think again just only for a min….

Venkat Prabhu’s vacation could have been bit more fun and entertaining….

$$$ IPL 3 – Its Auction Time $$$

January 19, 2010 at 7:08 pm (IPL) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi guys,

Its time for IPL season 3…. I am sure, u would  have followed me during the IPL season 2… That’s the time i was just killing my time in home, without knowing what to do next… Now the scenario is totally different, not sure whether i can even follow the games constantly…

Whatever, will try to update the blog as and when i find time…

Now, coming to today’s Hot news…

dlf-ipl

Its AUCTION TIME in IPL season 3…

11 slots are auctioned with 67 players from all the 9 test playing nations,

And indeed all the franchises shown keen interest to get in some key players.Glitzy auction was attended by Franchises owners like, Vijay Mallya with RCB skipper Anil Kumble, Nita Ambani for Mumbai Indians, Ness Wadia and Preity zinda for KXIP, Shilpa Shetty for Rajasthan Royals.

Kieron Pollard, a newly revealed tornado of Trinidad and Tobago was the hottest star of the day, where bid rose from $200,000 to $750,000 (approx. 3.42 crores) in no time. Four Franchises bided for the maximum limit…. Chennai Super Kings, RCB, KKR and Mumbai Indians tried really hard to keep hard hitting all rounder Pollard with their team, but in the end, it Ambani’s who won the undisclosed silent tie breaker bid and took Pollard to Mumbai.

Same thing went on for Shane bond of New Zealand too…. Bids went on from $100K to $750K, where KKR and Deccan’s fought hard for the kiwi speedster, in the end another silent tie breaker ended in favor of KKR. (just for info, Shane bond was ICL returnee)

Another new West Indian player who rocked this year was Kemar Roach of Trinidad and Tobago(Hope u all remember his fiery spell against against Ricky Ponting) who price also went in sky in no time and finally sold out for second best price $720,000 to Deccan Chargers.

Wayne Parnell, South African Pacer, who was finally won by Delhi Daredevils was sold out for $610,000. Another South african player who was sold out is Yusuf Abdulla for $50,000 to KXIP.

After bidding for key players Chennai was able to get Justin Kemp for $100,000 and Thisara perara (lankan pacer) for $50,000.

Left Hander Eoin Morgan found his place in RCB with the price of $220,000.

Its gr8 day for Indian Players as all the four playre who have listed for Auction ws sold out. After a long time Mohd. Kaif makes his way into visible cricket with KXIP grabbing him for $250,000. Followed him Ashok Menaria to RCB, Harmeet Singh to Deccan’s and finally Harshal Patel for Mumbai Indians. (hope they get a single game atleast to prove)

Another ICL returnee Damien Martyn, was sold out to Rajasthan royals for $100,000 and another Australian who was picked by the same was Adam Voges for $50,000.

Only thing which was so sad was that None of the 11 Pakistani players are even taken for Bid (in case if u have forgot, they are ICC world Twenty-20 Champions), Franchises are perplexed about the Visa problem for Pakistani players. So no one found their places in IPL season 3, which included key players like Shahid Afridi(Currently he’s the Skipper of Pakistan T20 team), Umar and Kamaran Akmal and speedster Umar Gul..

So finally the chosen 11 are:

1. Kieron Pollard – $750,000 (Mumbai Indians)

2. Shane Bond – $750,000 (Kolkata Knight Riders)

3. Kemar Roach – $720,000 (Deccan Chargers)

4. Wayne Parnell – $610,000 (Delhi Daredevils)

5. Mohammed Kaif – $250,000 (Kings XI Punjab)

6. Eoin Morgan – $ 220,000 (Royal Challengers)

7. Damien Martyn – $100,000 (Rajasthan Royals)

8. Justin Kemp – $100,000 (Chennai Super Kings)

9. Adam Voges – $50,000 (Rajasthan Royals)

10. Yusuf Abdulla – $50,000 (Kings XI Punjab)

11. Thisara Perara – $50,000 (Chennai Super Kings)

apart from these 11,

3 other Indians are picked by draft system who will be getting a sum of Rs.8,oo,000.

Ashok Menaria – Royal Challengers Bangalore

Harmeet Singh – Deccan Chargers

Harshal Patel – Mumbai Indians.

That’s it from the centre as of now, pls look over this place for new updates about IPL 3….

Aayirathil Oruvan – Movie Review

January 15, 2010 at 12:26 am (Experiences, Movies) (, , , , , , , , )

Hi guys,

Finally its the day Aayirathil Oruvan has been unveiled to the eyes of many fans who has waited for this epic movie over the years.

Is the wait made the justice…? now go on for review….

Small description about How the Hell I was caught in this movie….

Some how convinced by my friend Manoaj i went to movie with him and 7 other guys, to villianur to watch the movie in Ashok Theater (first movie in that theater, it’s far away from the city and generally new films aren’t released there)  Gathered around 5.30, started buzzing for the ticket now and then, Tickets were out only in Black, which was costing around 80 to 100… No one is interested to pay for such theater. (actual first class is Rs.20, now u gotta guess abt the location and theater). Finally when the moment we are about to leave got a deal for 60 bucks, which was ok, and finally got into the seats.

Now coming to movie review,

Story unfolds from the ancient times, talking abt Pandia and Chola age history and their rivalry. And all of a sudden u see Parthap pothan getting missed in an island. In between Reema Sen (Anitha Pandian) prepare to find the old Chola territory along joining the Hero Karthi (Sukumaran) as coolie, In the middle they also romp in Andrea (Dr.Lavanya) just in the name to rescue the missing father.  So all the three lead Characters  and a huge Indian army(!@#$%!), follows them.

First half moves with good pace and moves on with typical things needed to keep the audience alive and cheerful, Govinda and Un mela Aasaithan song gets a huge applause in the theaters,  in both the songs Picturisation has to appreciated. (youth audience are very happy without doubt) … First half ends with the scene showing all the three lead getting mentally ill…. (which is actually a hint for the rest to come in the second half)

Second Half goes on and on and on and on and on…..  Parthiban (King of Chola’s) leads the ethic civilization of ppl whose is still in the stone age times. Reema whose is actually a Pandia (refer name Anitha Pandian), want to take revenge on the chola’s just for stealing their god’s idol. so she plans and tricks parthiban to fall into the plan, in the middle, many things passes on. where karthi wins a gladiator style battle, he becomes the part of chola ppl, and so on….

So in the last, A Huge Indian army(aren’t we educated to accept all this) comes down to the place in parachute to aid reemasen to take revenge on chola’s just bcos they have stolen their idol….   Battle goes on, as expected machine wins over man, and all the chola’s are killed except for the son of King parthiban who is rescued by karthi in the last scene.  Who is Aayirathil Oruvan…. With this 3.15 hours of film has finally ended….

With a big sign of relief, many walked out,

Even in the middle u gotta appreciate few person, Karthi and Parthiban for keeping the film alive, Camera was awesome sparkles in the night, nest comes music by G.V.Prakashkumar, which sounds delightful in songs but doesn’t get the grip in the Bg score, (Yuvan was seriously missed by Selva without any doubt)… next big one,  Ravendren, producer who really had a Very Big heart to budget for a new type of movie, and finally for selva for trying out something from the normal odds…

Actually, none of us(all 9) cud believe that selva has directed this film,  Such a classy director, unfortunately this time he didnt get the pulse of the tamil audience by any means… Few scenes are too gross to watch on-screen, hope they are taken out in the upcoming days, (esp the scene reema pee’s and another scene to extreme blood shed for a piece of meat (can’t say better)), which isn’t accepted by audience at all, theater had a disgusting noise in the particular scene.  I didn’t understand how come selva thought something like only male will watch the film.

I cud keep on questioning, but that will not be the end of it. Two and half years of wait for the film created an over hype and it didn’t even stand up for the expectation. Very very sorry effort from selva this time…. Hope he come backs with the bang in the future….

Hope ur not petrified by my review…. Have Guts then just give a try to watch the movie…. 🙂
