IPL 2: Day 12 Review

April 30, 2009 at 1:31 am (IPL) (, , , , , )

Hi…

Its Day 12 in IPL…

Beautiful day of low scoring thrillers.

Match 19:

RCB Vs KKR

Its two teams down under in action. As expected its a very close and an exciting game.

Bredon McCulum won the toss and decided to bat first, and it didnt work for him esp, he was out in the very first ball of the match. Its Chris Gayle and Van der merwe, who bought KKR to a total of 192 in 20 overs. and its Anil Kumble who bowled exceptionally well, 4-0-16-2

match-19

Chasing 140 to win with 7 runs per over. Bangalore came back from the Uthappa’s Opening effect, this time goswami placed a fine knock and hope he retains the position. Opening partnership of 69 was the first for bangalore 5o and above partnership of this season.

then kept thmeselves at tha hunt, even though wickets fell at the other end. But boucher holds the nerves and scored needed 10 runs of the very last over. May be i shud say, chris gayle was a bad choice to bowl out the last over.

Finally bangalore wins their second match. Hope things go good for them…

Match 20:

MI vs KXIP

If u say last one was a close game and a low scoring thriller. then how to name it…. pls help me…

Fabulous game went till the wire and pendulum was swinging in both ways for every over.

KXIP started off bit slow i shud say, lost goel early in the innings then bopara and finally skipper yuvi before the break, which ensured , they made just 50 runs in their first 10 overs,  really i shud say it didnt click well for punjab guys. pitch was pretty slow and ball stops a bit before coming into the bat, so batsman ended scooping the ball in the air many a times. No partnerships and anyone to with hold the innings with Kumar sangakarra, who had a lone vigil in the crease till the end, making an unbeaten 45 runs. and bowlers for Mumbai did really well esp: slinger malinga claimed the figures of 4-0-12-2, and rest others also chipped in.

match-20

Just needing 120 runs to win, evry1 felt, its a sitter for them with the subliminal form of Sanath and sachin from the last match, it all just counted in times, but no mumbaikar wud have beleived the score after 4.1 overs, its 12/3 and both sanath and sachin back to dressing room.  the start which KXIP wud dreamt off.. and they lost the track all of a sudden bravo played a poor shot to get himself out, Abishek nayar sticked a bit with JP duminy to steer ship back to position,  but no one cud say, that someone gained advantage at any point, it was swinging again and again. Finally its all abt 2 inchs shot for JP duminy taking mumbai to a home of victory, Abdulla bowled a very good last over, just conceding 8 runs and claiming the wicket of JP duminy. in the nail bitting match its KXIP who won by 3 runs in the end.

Whaaaaaaatttttttttaaaaaaaa Match………

Standings as on Day 12:

standings-9

Still there is no change in the top position, Deccans run high and followed by Delhi. but its not looking so good for SRK and his team. (started cost cutting i guess, check out news papers….)

Interesting facts on Day 12:

– Malinga is the leading wicket taker and he is the only player who has the record of bowling all full quto of his 4 overs and keeping his economy below 6. His stunning figues are 3/15 , 3/19, 3/11 and 2/12. which add up to 57 runs in 16 overs and gaining 11 wickets.

– KXIP defended the lowest ever total of IPL season against MI.

– Its ninth time a batsman is out after strategic time out, this time the unlucky guy is Jayawardene.

– MI scored 47/4 in the first 10 overs, which is also the lowest ever score made in first 10 overs.

– Beleive it or not Team topping in the total no of booundaries scored is Royal challengers bangalore with 77 Boundries (in 6 games) of the season till now, and followed by CSk with 55 fours.

– MN van Wyk of KKR took four catches against RBC which becomes the best performance by a KKR wicket keeper.

– In the  match KKR and RCB, five players  shared the award for the most sixes. (Hodge and Saha from KKR, Kohli, boucher and van de merwe from RCB)

–  Least boundary hit by a team in full 20 overs is KXIP, against MI, they got just four 4s and 2 sixes.

Hell lot of fatcs…. Hmm… i am enjoying it… Hope to update everyday as i do…. see u 2maro with CSK and RR clasing for the points table battle.

IPL 2: DAY 11 Review

April 29, 2009 at 4:52 am (IPL) (, , , , , )

Hi guys,

Its day 11 in IPL…

Match 18:

Rajasthan Royals Vs Delhi Daredevils

Delhi won the toss and decided to bat first, without any negligence, but warne said, he wud have bowled first if he has won the toss… Tat was quite interesting… Any how, his words proved right and DD were 42/3 after first 6 overs. (which is their lowest first 6 over total in 4 games.)

De villers again scored a brilliant 50 and late work from vettori helped delhi to take the team to a respectable total of 143 in 20 overs.

Bowling of RR mentions a spl applause, esp from Munaf patel who bowled a wicket maiden 19th over. and his figures 4-1-14-2

maych-18

Chasing a Meager target of 143, things didnt really go well for Rajasthan, they strated fumbling right from the beginning and ended up 64/5 in 11 overs. which left 80 to score in remaining 9 overs, at the rate of 9 per over. But nothing seems to be big, infront this big man, Yusuf Pathan he scored a swashbucling 62 of 30 balls to take home Rajasthan their second and must needed win. Nothing to take away from Grame smith who held the innings together right from the beginning till the end… Did a fabulous job of staying rooted to the crease and rotating strikes for yusuf. In the end, Its Rajasthan Royals won the match by 5 wickets with 9 balls to spare. Mishra was the pick of the bowlers, unless he was destroyed by yusuf in his last over. 4-0-34-3.

Standings as on Day 11:

standings-8

Interesting Facts on Day 11 IPL:

– Grame Smith and Yusuf Pathan recorded the Highest ever 6th wicket partnership of 83 runs.

– Munaf Patel bowled his first Wicket maiden over in T20 format, Tat too a critical 19th over.

– Yusuf Pathan Bettered his Strike by 206.66 (previous best was 200 (42 off 21 balls))scoring 62 of 3o deliveries for this IPL season.

– Yusuf Pathan scored 6 sixes, equalling AB de villers record for most no.of sixes in an innnigs.

– DD dropped 3 catches today and 2 were off Yusuf pathan, and the very next ball Yusuf scored Boundary and six respectively.

– Its 8 th time wicket goes down after strategic time out, today its twin strike for Mishra, Warne and Jadeja.

Bye for now…

IPL 2: Day 10 Review

April 28, 2009 at 12:21 am (IPL) (, , , , , , , )

HI….

Its day 10 in IPL…

Match 16:

Chennai Superkings Vs Deccan Chargers

Its a desperate chennai kings to face a resurgent deccan chargers, who are charged up in all cylinders.

Its pretty clear, things aren’t going in the way of Dhoni (which he doesn’t do often), he lost the toss and DC decided to field first.

CSK lost Patel in the very first over, but, Hayden and Raina kept going for chennai, really did a good job and kept scoring at a very fast pace, which hayden does always. But brilliant bowling change from gilly made the trick for them, Raina gone to rohit, and it all started there, then dhoni kept rotating the strike rather than boosting the run rate, which turned the momentum towards DC way and main turning point was Ojha’s over, where he picked up both Dhoni and Hayden, which ended fatal for Chennai, where they seems to get around, 180, finally with the help of Oram, they just managed to get 165 in the end… Which really wasnt sufficient in a batting paradise and devastating batting attack of DC. Bowling, its good work by Ojaha who bowled just 2 for his 11 runs. then its edwards 4-0-21-1.

match-16

DC started off in fire i shud, say, Gilly was in no mood to spare anyone, he started going for his shots right from the ball one. There is no stopping him, where they went on to record the fastest fifty of the IPL ever and raina brought back CSK into game with two vital strikes, but, with the start they had,all DC’s needed are just to rotate strike to win the match, Which Gibbs did very well and got their team safely home for the fourth time in a Row with three balls to spare. (which is double the time of matches won last season.)

Match 17:

Mumbai Indians Vs Kolkata Knight Riders

Mumbai was too hot for Kolkata to handle, That too when Tendulkar and Sanath jayasuriya gets going on song, nothing cud be done much. other than just watching them batting and enjoying it. (but not in the position of Bredon McCullum)

Both these players gave Mumbai a Blisterring century partnership and rest others just throwed bat at everything, and ended up scoring 187 in 20 overs.

match-17

Its always tough to chase a score of 180 and above, and it gets more tougher, when u lose Gayle and captain McCullum in the first 3 overs, and its all gates for KKR, just ganguly held the innings a bit with Hodge, but once they departed while trying to bring down the runrate, its all just exit door for KKR, rest all had a parade one by one. and all out for 95 with almost 5 overs to spare.

Standings as on Day 10:

standings-7

It doesn’t really look good for Chennai at the moment but lets see how things can go around in the future…

Interesting Fatcs on Day 10:

MI recorded the Highest ever Opening partnership (127 by Sachin and Sanath) in IPL, bettering hayden and patel’s 106.

– DC recorded the fastest Fifty of the IPL, with just 23 balls.

– Gayle scored only one six today, which is his 150th six.

– Hodge picked up his maiden wicket and its Harbhajan.

– Strategic Time out for MI and KKR yielded the wicket of Brad Hodge (KKR), who was going well with 50 partnership, This is 7th time….

– Malinga steals the Purple cap from RP Singh, equalling 9 wickets but bettering in economic rate.

– CSK became the third team in a row to record a score of 0/1 in the very first over. (patel getting out to edwards in second delivery)

Scoring rate in first 6 (powerplay Overs)

first-6

Tats all as of now… Will meet u 2maro….

IPL 2: Day 9 Review

April 27, 2009 at 4:58 am (IPL) (, , , , )

Hi guys,

Its Day 9 in IPL 2….

Match 14:

Delhi Daredevils Vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

Its on Song Delhi team taking on a feeble Bangalore side.

Match was almost one sided and right from the beginning, Delhi seems to be in the track, never lost their plot.

For bangalore, once again a disastrous start, by losing kallis in the very first delivery of the match, and they recovered a bit, with the help of cameo work from pietersen and boucher and taylor too… Finally Bangalore reached a target of 149 in their 20 overs, which seems to be pretty less for a formidable batting side of delhi.

RCB 149/7 in 20 overs

Pietersen 37         Boucher 36

Taylor 31               Kohli 22

Amit Mishra 4-0-19-1

Asish nehra 4-0-34-2

And delhi started the ininngs not so well as anticipated, they lost shewag very early, but dilshan and Ab in de back kept playing their shots to keep them always above the run rate required. But things seems to be bit tough for Delhi, when spinners Kumble and appanna came into play, thye really bowled well and stopped the flow of runs, and appanna id pick the wicket of AB, which seems to give a hope for Bangalore, but its later Manhas joined with resolute Dilshan to finish of the things with 4 balls to spare.

DD 150/4 in 19.2 Overs

Dilshan 67         Manhas 23

Devillers 21       Gambhir 16

Pankaj Singh 4-0-31-2

K Appanna 4-0-24-1

Finally Delhi got thru safely with 6 wickets in hand and to win their third match in a row comfortably.

Match 15:

Kings XI Punjab Vs Rajasthan Royals

Both the teams finally had a bit of success before this game, so both will like to keep the momentum going on.

Its Kings XI started the match, again a wicket in the very first delivery of the match, very poor run out to start the match. RR kept KXIP always at the brink by picking up wickets at the right time and in perfect intervals, which acted as a brake for accelerating scores. Credit goes to young 18 year old chap Kamaran khan who bowled exceptionally well along with the senior partner Munaf patel.

match-151

Then, if u say, KXIP started badly, then take a superlative form of bad, They started off very badly and didnt seem to be in hunt at any time. always they were lagging in their req run rate, which kept on creeping in the death overs.  And bowling is also too good for RR to handle, both Pathan and Abdulla bowled really well to pick up ppl early out of crease.

Standings as on Day 9:

standings-6

Still Deccans heading the way…. Lets c its pretty early to say.

Interesting facts on Day9:

– This is 4 out of 5 times, that the opening partnership of BRC failed to get of the mark.

– Its 7th time, a player is out after startegic time break, this time its ross taylor of BRC.

– This is the first time in IPL, that two matches in a day has yielded a first ball wicket.

– Shane warne and Jadeja recorded the Best 7th wicket partnership of 60 runs, for this IPL season.

– This is the first Ipl innings (by Rajasthan Royals) which didn’t yield any sixes.

– Today, De villers was found short of his crease against their match in BRC, but he was ruled not out instead, Very strange decision..

Thats all from the centre today, sorry for pretty delayed review, its almost 5 in the morning in India now… got held up with my proj… Feeling so sleepy… Have a gr8 day guys….

IPL 2: Day 8 review

April 26, 2009 at 1:18 am (IPL) (, , , , , )

Hi guys,

Its day 8 in IPL….

Its another double header day for IPL fans…

Match 12:

DC Vs MI

A back in form Deccan chargers take up Mumbai indians after almost a  week time after their first match.

Deccan chargers started the innings very briskly, wih skipper leading in front with a blistering pace of scoring.  Run rate cam stagnant, when gilly out for his 35, Gibbs gets the thigs going for DC then, with a aided effort from Dwanye smith in the other end. Gibs scored 58 and smith scored 35 to get DC to a defendable score of 168. Its way below the expectation just think abt their start. MI bowled beautifully in end, just they gace 42 runs of last 43 deleiveries bowled. and especially Malinga bowled a double wicket maiden in his 20th over. Hats off to his effort, 3-1-19-3.

match-12

Chasing 169 to win, MI’s didnt have an auspicious start, they lost hteir opener Jayasuriya very cheaply for 1, but nothing changed the course sachin builded up with JP duminy and made a good effort to keep the runrate under control. and its always pleasure to watch sachin stepping outside the crease and lofting it straight over the bowlers head for a six. and it did happen to P ojha today…. at the time strategic time out was called, MI were 85/1 needing another 83 to win in last 10, with 9 wickets in hand. But it all went wrong for MI’s. and another time a person is out after a strategic time out, this time its sachin. and then its a parade walk for all, they just came and went, except bravo and Bhajji, who played some lusty shots to keep MI’s alive… but its too costly in the end and they lost the match by 12 runs…. to tell abt bowling, excellent work by Ojha, he went for 11 in his first over but came back really good to pick up a wicket in all his three remaining overs… RP singh held to his purple cap, (which he lost for a while to Malinga) and edwards for a good show in bowling.

Match 13:

Chennai Superkings Vs Kolkata Knight riders

Oh Man, O Man, What to say, Its rain all over cape town and v missed a very good match, i shud say chennai lost a point bcos of rain, they seems to be riding well to get KKR with the form they were in… But it all ended up without nothing…

Hope rain dont play spoilsport again for IPL…  Atleast for Chennai Matches (bit selfish huh….?)

Standings as on end of Match 13:

standings

Chennai back in Top 4 again, lets c how the things go on…

Interesting facts on Day 8:

– Its third Match (CSK Vs KKR) in IPl to Wash out without even toss was called up… check my previous post for other two matches.

– Lasith Malinga is the only bowler to bowl a Double wicket maiden in the IPL T20 tournament, till now…

– He also becomes the first bowler to bowl the last over (20th over) as a Maiden.

– With this effort he gained the purple cap for abt 30 mins r so, before RP singh could pick Jayasuriya’s wicket and get back the cap.

– Its 6th time a Player is out in the very next over after strategic time out, (its sachin this time)

Tats all from te centre now…. Will update abt 2maro by the same time 2maro.. Till then Bye…

IPL 2: Day 7 Review

April 25, 2009 at 12:33 am (IPL) (, , , )

Hi…

Its day 7 in IPL 2…..

Match 11:

Royal Challengers Bangalore Vs Kings XI Punjab

Its game where Punjab finally had their full 20 overs match and they won it in style with 7 wickets and 1 over to spare…

Royal challengers as always lost their opening wicket so cheaply, and then its a good show from kallis and ryder, other than these two none kept going…. in the middle Ross taylor sticked a bit for his little 35, but the main problem was, everytime they accelerated, a wicket goes down and it had the rakes on pushing hard…. in the end its 168/9. In bowling Pathan and local boy Abdulla did really well to keep RCB in their toes all the time.

RCB 168/9 in 20 overs.

Kallis – 62                        Taylor – 35

Ryder – 32

Abudulla  4-0-31-4 and I.Pathan 4-0-35-3

KXIP 173/3 in 19 overs.

Bopara 84                     Yuvraj 30

Sangakarra 26

Anil kumble 4-0-19-1

Chasing 169, Goel gave a good start with bopara, witha opening partnership of 52. Nothing much others have to do, other than just to stick aroung bopara, to win the match, which both sangakarra and yuvraj did well to win the match. But it could have been a turn of fortunes if Rahul dravid had takena ctach when bopara is in his 20’s…. But thats de way it goes… Fortune favors the brave…. Even in the short stay , we cud sense of real yuvraj, he was ruling the roost in his meticulous shots over the ground. (ofcourse y not, this is the ground, where he scored his 6 sixes), but today, we could see only one of those, even that’s spl, y…? Check out the intersting facts….

Overall a good match…

Standings as on Day 7:

standings-5

Interesting facts on Day 7:

– Its 5th time in IPL that a batsmen gets out after a strategic time out, its Rahul dravid today.

– Bopara scored 84, which is the highest score for himself and by any Punjab KXIP player.

– Today is Sachin’s birthday, (loved to see him in action rather than having 2maro)

– Yuvraj singh hits the 100th of the tournament IPL 2009… (already hundered is done…? Gr8…:) )

– Both Bangalore and Deccan now share the record for losing most games (12) in the IPL.

Didn’t see the macth today due to my project work…. so will update as i have with me…. till then its bye…

IPL 2: Day 6 Review

April 24, 2009 at 1:49 am (IPL) (, , , , , , , )

Hi….

Its Day 6 in Ipl 2….

Match 9:

Chennai Super Kings Vs Delhi Daredevils

Its game which cud give second win either to any of the teams, which they will cherish a lot.

Strange a bit Dhoni lost the toss and Shewag decided to bat first. We could hear from the commentator Sunny that its a batting paradise. So gr8 game is on…

Daredevils had a unexpected starting lossing Gambhitr in the very first ball and shewag in the next over last ball… scorecard read 8/2 in 2 overs… Making the blistering start chennai let their nerves to relax, which ended as a fatal mistake, Ab de villers and Dilshan made the difference they were all over the park….  No one seems to stop them from clearing boundries. Finally morkel took dilshan, but he dropped the match (tats i how see it), he dropped the catch of Ab de villers when he is in 50, where he went on to make a brilliant century. None other than these two looked so impressive for delhi and for chennai Balaji did a good job in his 4 overs, 4-0-19-3.  (Dont ask abt the rest… 😦 ) (just for the info Flintoff made a half century but in bowling 4-0-50-0)

match-9

Chennai started with a powerplay from the big man, Hayden, who scored at a very fast pace as he usually does, in the end of first ten overs, its more than required, its 105/2, just needing 85 in last ten overs it looked so simple in equation, but it wasn’t Dhoni lost himself after strategic time out… (which make up an interesting fact that, its 4th time batsmen is out in the very next over after strategic time out.) till 15th over its all in the bags of chennai, but then no one couldnt understand, how they lost the plot, runs came very much tidy, and its all over before they cud do anything, and wickets fell down in the regular intervals which gave delhi a chance to sneak in and they finally walked away with victory with 9 runs…

2 persons who gets into lime light are Ab de villers for his 54 ball 105 and Pradhep Sangwan who is the pick of the bowler, picked three important wickets at very important time, which really made the difference between Chennai and Delhi. Overall its a gr8 match, if u didnt watch u missed a superp one…

Match 10:

Rajashtah Royals Vs Kolkata Knight Riders

If i say CSK vs DD is a gr8 match, then how could say this, Its much better than before, and u cud see 2 more extra overs (super over)….

Rajasthan royals needs this win very badly losing their first two games, and KKR will look to get their second win.

RR didnt start off well, last wickets in regular intervals and its only yusuf pathan made the moves for royals… once when he departed, run rate slowed down a bit and they ended up near 150 with the help from ravindra jadeja, raut and mascarenes.

match-10

Just like RR, KKR  lost couple of early wickets and if its yusuf pathan for RR’s its Chris Gayle for KKR’s… and it all went slow and steady for the KKR, Its price of Kolkata who held up his best innings for this match, produced it, his couple of sixes of munaf patel were so classic, just like seeing ganguly in the oval, England… I shud say they saw the victory almost close to them and they let it down in the final over. Eihter balme it on Yashpal (who got out to warne in the 19th over, even after repeated warning by ganguly, just asking him to stay in the crease), later himself went down in the final over to kamran khan… Finally it made the difference, Ishant faced the last ball needing 2 to win, hit straight to warne in short cover and tried to sneak second , which is a thin air, and failed, and match went to Super Over. Man, spare a thought for this person Kamran Khan, bowled extremely well 4-0-18-3 (esp the last over giving just 6 runs and the wicket of Ganguly in it )

Super Over:

KKR to bat first, and their Three batsmen are Gayle, Mccullum and Ganguly and the bowler for RR is again Kamran Khan who bowled a beautiful last over.

Gayle scored 13 for them with 3 boundaries and mcculum scored a single. Scoring chart: 1, 1, wide, 4, 4, 4, W

KKR score 15/1 in their super over.

RR chasing 16 sent out Yusuf Pathan and Ravindra jadeja, mascarenes as a follow up, and Ajantha Mendis will bowl for KKR. Its just Yusuf’s show and he walked as a icing in the cake. Scoring chart: 6, 2, 6, 4 and two more balls left….

Finally Its Rajasthan Royals won the match in Super over.

Man, What a game… IPL is exicting isnt….?

Standings as on IPL day 6:

standings4

Interesting facts of Day 6:

# DD and CSK match aggregate of 369 was the highest in the tournament, bettering yesterday’s best 344 between deccans and Bangalores.

# Again, 189 is the highest score by any team in IPL 2009, bettering deccans 184.

# AB de Villiers became the first Delhi batsman and seventh overall to register a hundred in the IPL. He joined Adam Gilchrist, Sanath Jayasuriya , Shaun Marsh, Brendon McCullum, Andrew Symonds  and Michael Hussey .

# His outstanding innings — unbeaten 105 off 54 balls — is also his first hundred in Twenty20 and for this IPL 2009 season.

# Dilshan registered his first fifty the IPL, reaching his 50 off only 24 balls.

# Andrew Flintoff  (4-0-50-0) registered his worst bowling figures in the IPL and this is his first time in an IPL innings, he could not claim a wicket.

# Matthew Hayden posted his fourth IPL fifty and a total of 166  to take back the Orange cap from Rahul Dravid. (Its been a war between both… 😀 )

#First IPL game to go into Super Over is RR and KKR.

Couldnt make much out of second game, lost all my mind in a fabulous game…. if u know any then let me know….  As off its good Night…. Meet u 2maro folks…

IPL 2: Day 5 Review, Its RBC Vs DC…

April 23, 2009 at 12:16 am (IPL) (, , , , , )

Hi…

Its day 5 in IPL…

Match 8:

Royal Challengers Bangalore Vs Deccan Chargers

Pietersen being lost the last game against chennai, is very much eager to get the things going his way, to make the same statement again, gilly will also be wishing to continue their winning….

Gilly won the toss and decided to bat first without any hesitation, Bcos de pitch report said, its like a sub continental one, and its gonna be a run feast.

Yep… It is Gilly himself started off in style and made the cricket ball look like a foot ball…. he seems to hit everywhere and anything coming at him… (O! Man this is t20…) Later the  glimpse off rohit sharma got thru the deccans to a massive total of 184. Bowling wasnt so much impressive again from the bangalore team.

match-8

As the scorecard shows, its has been tough task for Bangalore, to make a match out of it…. On the contrast to Deccans, RBC had a very slow start, scoring 38/2 in powerplay overs, and its 57/3 in first ten overs… which means RBC has to make a match out of no where to win it further, Pietersen failed to make a mark again, but Two persons, really got to be mentioned, its Old fox Rahul Dravid, with Under 19 captain Virat Kohli, who created a jinx out of a dead rubber. When they were in the crease, it seems thta they may even steal the show from deccans, but its too much in de end for both who got perished nearing their 50’s. In the bowling, its styris, who picked up 3 and Rp singh got 2 to his name. Overall a allround performace by Deccans, and special mention for their fielding, man , i am damn sure, they saved arund 15 to 20 runs within the circle…. Which also gave them the match…  In the end Hyderabadhi’s are too spice for bangaloreans to swallow….

Standings as on Day 5:

standings3

Its Deccans in the top, Lets see how the dice roll up in the future….

Interesting Fatcs on Day 5:

Rahul Dravid gets back his Orange cap from Hayden (total score of 134, hayden followed by 109)

– RP singh got the purple cap from Kumble. (6 wickets, Kumble, Praveen Kumar and  Styris  followed by 5 each)

– 184 is the highest IPL score for this season bettering CSK 179.

– This is also the best ever score made by Deccan Chargers in both the IPL seasons (as of now).

– Eventhough, 160 by RBC is the highest second innings score for this season, its wasn’t enough to get them thru.

– 71 off 45 balls from gilly became the top score for the season, bettering Dravid’s 66.

– 344 runs (184+160) is the highest aggregate of this season, bettering CSK and MI’s 311.

Tats all from the centre now…. Will meet u 2maro…. Two exciting matches are on….

IPL 2: Day 4 Review

April 22, 2009 at 1:01 am (IPL) (, , , , , , , )

Hi…

Its day 4 in IPL, Today i got busy with my MBA project work so couldn’t see the match.

Match 6:

KKR Vs KXIP

This match is very much critical for both the teams, since both the teams lost their first match…

KXIP made a sedated start bcos of losing Goel in the early spell to sharma and later managed to reach a respectable total 158, with help of the skipper Yuvraj and also from Jaywardene and Irfan pathan adding to the cause.. In the bowling dept, both dada and Ishant did well to conceded juts 24 runs in their full quota of 4 overs each and ended up picking 2 and 1 wickets respectively.

KXIP 158/6 in 20 overs

I Pathan   32                     K Sangakkara 26

Yuvraj Singh 38             Jayawardene 31

Ganguly – 4-0-24-2,     Ishant Sharma – 4-0-24-1

The second off started bit slow for KKR either, but its all just for two overs, then came, this 6.2 feat tall person from carribean and demolished the bowling attack of KXIP, Yuvraj ran out off ideas and resources. in simple words, he was like a child who lost himself in a huge crowd, didn’t know what to do. May be they hav to blame themselves for this cause, becuase Gayle was dropped twice, first by Karan goel in 2 and later in 32 by sangakarra. This reminded me a classical sentence in Cricket “CATCHES WIN MATCHES” its cent percent true and KXIP lost it… Even rain got into tears on seeing gayle in fire , so he sent out some demons to cool the mother earth, and its no way back to ground. Then came the Duckworth and Lewis and said, Man ur already 11 runs ahead than KXIP, so u win the game. I think its high time for priety to pray to god to save KXIP to save them from rain atleast, their second match is also affected by rain and they ended up in a losing side…

KKR 79/1 in 9.2 overs

Chris Gayle 44             B. Mcculum 21

VS Malik 2-0-23-1     Chawla 2-0-8-0

And finally its happy KKR and SRK.

Match 7:

RR Vs MI

Its between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians. Wow man what a match it wud have been… Really its a gr8 pleasure to watch sachin and warne again in action together. Somehow rain gods didnt have mercy to make the way for the match. So its one point each to share….

IPL DAY 4 Interesting fatcs:

– KKR Vs KXIP  is the second match this season to be given result thru D/L method. (first one was DD Vs KXIP)

– RR Vs MI (Match 7) was the second match to be abandoned without even taking toss. (First is Match 47: Between DD Vs KKR, in Delhi last season of IPL)

– Chris Gayle scored his Highest score in T20 today. (Previous best being 16)

– With a shared point MI top the standings table, followed by Chennai Superkings. (as of now)

Didn’t watch the match, so very much limited updates i have today… Meet u 2maro hope to give bit more… Till then its Good bye and Signing off…

IPL 2: DAY 3 Review… Its CSK Vs RCB

April 21, 2009 at 12:33 am (IPL) (, , , , , , )

Hi guys,

Its day 3 in IPL…

MATCH 5:

Its wounded Chennai Superkings Vs Confident Bangalore Royal Challengers.

As v all know, Dhoni has a charm of luck in winning the coin to his favor, and it did repeat today, and for Chennai kings evrything went in their way… Miss hits didn’t carry to the fielders, miss fields and so on. Hayden and parthiv Started off in a gr8 fashion, and to mark the saying, “All that begins well is half done”, here bowlers (Murali, Flintoff, Balaji) finished off the job perfectly for CSK. Gr8 day for Chennai… Hurrah i am happy … 🙂 🙂 😀

match-5

But for Royal challengers, day wasnt theirs, Nothing went to their way, evry1 faultered and to add more misery lethal spinner Murali came to finish off the things for RBC. Overall its a unlucky day for RBC (to mark this statement, a example, Dravid stuck very firmly the first ball off balaji towards, leg side and there  stood the umpire Simon Taufel getting beating in his legs and by blocking a certain boundary for RBC, which ended up just a single…. 🙂 )

Standings as on Day 3:

standings-22

Standings at the end of Day 3… Its good to see Chennai back in top…. But IPL is turn of fortunes, which reminds me a famous dialogue from Forrest gump (btw Its a gr8 movie guys, dont miss it)… Momma always said, “Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” Just like that u cant predict this T20….

Interesting Facts on Day 3:

– CSK recorded the Highest ever total (179) in St.George’s Park.

– Hayden and Parthiv Patel recorded their first ever century partnership between them (106)

– 106 was also the highest ever partnership in the ground, overtaking previous best of 103.

– When match began Orange cap was given to Rahul dravid and Purple cap was given to Anil Kumble. (Its first time both caps r in the same team)

– In the match later, Hayden took over the Orange cap from Dravid…

Thats all i have for this day…. Will update u asap…
