IPL 6: DAY 35–Dravid, Rahane’s Deja vu & Sachin’s class…

May 8, 2013 at 12:35 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2013, IPL 6) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi…

Game 1, Rajasthan Royals took on Delhi, Once again a dismal performance by Delhi made it so simple for Rajasthan who have been chasing comfortably for this season, esp in Jaipur. Delhi even after a big effort from Debutant Ben Rohrer scoring 63* Delhi ended up with  154/4 in 20 overs. Just like last game both Rahane & Skipper Dravid continued the partnership this time little extended to reach a century between both for the first time. Dravid departed after laying a winning platform. Watson just had some runs to score of, which he did effectively with 14 ball 28 to win the game.

Rajasthan Royals won the match 9 wickets with 13 balls to spare…

Game 2, KKR literally on the verge of exit, need to win this game to be mathematically present in the IPL context. Sachin started off the Mumbai Innings with flurry of boundaries, Even though he was dismissed, Rohit & Dinseh made sure runs are coming thick & fast. With a very good last over to end MI at 170/6 in 20 overs. KKR started their chase in a disastrous fashion to lose the skipper for 0. Situation didn’t improve much even after the incident.  Mumbai Indians made it look like a one sided game for themselves. Easy winning by 65 runs,

Mumbai Indians won the match  by 65 runs…

IPL 5: Day 27 – Day of Double S’s ; Sanga & Shewag Scintillate…

May 2, 2012 at 12:17 am (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2012, IPL 5) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi all,

Another double header on a holiday…

Match 42:

Deccan Chargers Vs Pune Warriors India

Deccan’s having won their only game against Pune, will like to make it 2-0 for this season. Pune started off in bright note, but light seems to be fading in Dada’s army as they continue their losing streak.

Sangakarra who sat out last match came back as Skipper won the toss and decided to bat first. As always DC had a slow start, but they didn’t lose many wicket this time just a couple, Both Sangakarra & Cameron white stitched in a very important partnership between them and smacked the PWI bowlers out of the park as they piled up 122 runs in the last 9 overs, esp 18 & 19th overs yielded 25 runs a each, one bowled by Ganguly & Nehra.

Pune also had a first ball wicket, this time Manish Pandey being the victim, Clarke who just joined the team, along with Dada try to make amends to get themselves in the game, eventhough they found boundaries every now & then it wasn’t enough for the runrate as it kept on creeping. Ganguly & Clarke got themselves out in their forties. Smith & Uthappa tried to bring themselves close,  even after most shabbiest fielding display by DC, PWI fell short of 13 runs.

Match 43:

Rajasthan Royals Vs Delhi Daredevils

Just Couple of days back both teams met against each other and it went till the last ball and Delhi scampered through to win with 1 run. Rajasthan will like to change the fortunes in their fortress Jaipur.

Dravid won the coin battle and decided bat first on a good batting track, Royals started off to a flyer both Dravid & Rahane looked in prime form and playing strokes at their will. Once Rahane departed to a reverse sweep, score read 71/1 in 9 overs but the scenario itself got reversed, as Royals were 95/5 in no time, with 13 overs gone past them. Dravid tried to steady the thing, still he was scoring, but runs weren’t coming from the other end, which kept Royals under the score they looked for. As they completed their 20 overs with 141/6. Pawan Negi being the main tormentor who picked up 4 main key wickets in the middle overs to strangle royals less than the par score.

If Royals had to win this one, they need to pick Shewag upfront, which they failed to do so, the result is written as the wall, Shewag picked up his consecutive fifth fifty to demolish royals. By the time they picked up his wicket, he finished the game and left for the icing. KP playing the last game for this season of IPL played a handy 36 in the winning cause.

Delhi Daredevils won the match by 6 wicket & 28 balls to spare.

Standings as on DAY 27:

Interesting facts as on Day 27:

–          Deccan Chargers picked up their second win of this season; ironically both their wins have come against same team Pune Warriors.

–          Rahul Dravid scored the 1000th Boundary for this season of IPL.

–          Virender Shewag became the first player in T20 history to score 5 fifties consecutively.

–          157 runs between Sangakarra & Cameron White is the highest partnership for this season, they bettered Pandey & Uthappa’s 145 runs for 3rd wicket against Delhi.

–          157 runs between Sangakarra & Cameron White is also the third time highest in IPL so far, falling behind 159 runs between Hussey & Vijay & 206 runs between Marsh & Gilly both against RCB.

–          This is the first win for Delhi Daredevils in Jaipur in the IPL history so far.

–          Both the innings of the match DC Vs PWI had a first ball wicket, for DC it was Parthiv Patel & PWI it was Manish Pandey.

–          Shewag also is now second in the list the most no. of fifties scored in IPL with 13 to his name. Kallis & Gambhir top with 14 to their names.

At the end of DAY 27:

No. of Catches dropped for the day – 6

Total no. of Boundaries – 1023

Total no. of Sixes – 399

Longest Six – Chris Gayle – 106 Meters followed by Kieron Pollard – 105 Meters.

Most no. of Sixes –Chris Gayle (25) followed by K.Pietersen (20)

IPL 4: Day 5 Review…

April 12, 2011 at 11:46 pm (Cricket, IPL, IPL 2011, IPL 4) (, , , , , , , , , , )

Hi Guys,

Its a Double Header..

Match 7:
Rajasthan Royals Vs Delhi Daredevils

Warne’s inspired Royals back from the winning their opening game, and on the contrary Shewag who took over from Gambhir having lost pathetically to Mumbai, Needs a rejuvenation to pull back their strings. Shewag won the toss and decided to bat first, and once again top order of Delhi failed to help them through as Shewag departed for a boundary, and followed few poor shots to leave Delhi dragging at 36/4. Later Venugopal Rao and David Warner started building the innings with necessary impetus. Late Assault got Delhi to 151 in 20 overs. Apart from death overs, Royals bowled with everything, Capt Warne did get more younger and his balls turned from east to west, and Tait bowled with deadly pace and accuracy.

DD 151/6 in 20 overs.
D.Warner 54      Venugopal Rao 60
S.Warne  2/17       S.Tait 2/40
RR 152/4 in 18.3 overs.
J.Botha 39*         R.Dravid 38
M.Morkel 1/11      I.Pathan 1/32

RR WON THE MATCH BY 6 WICKETS.

Dravid came out to open the innings along with Paunikar, right from the start dravid looked so fluent with his shots, but its not de same for the other end guy who pershied to a full in swinging delivery from Ashok Dinda. Johan Botha who was promoted to No.3 last game retained the position and came in support with Dravid, After few scintillating shots dravid departed after scoring 38 runs and having got off his team to a good start. Botha stood the stand and got them past along with Menaria’s Sixes, Rahane cameo and Taylor’s finishing touch. Bowling looked very much ordinary apart from Morne Morkel none looked to trouble the batsmen. If Delhi had to win games, they have to bowl 200% better than today.

And once again Rajasthan proved its deadly to take them in their home ground… They are really the lions in their Den…  Which will now put them in the top of the league table…

Match 7:
Royal Challengers Bangalore Vs Mumbai Indians

Both teams here have won their first game comfortably and will look to take early lead over the other. Sachin Won the toss and decided to field first, RCB got off to a Slinging Maliga’s yorker to lose the wicket of the very first ball. Kohli departed after couple of lucky drives, De villers and Dilshan started to play so called constructive innings which in the end termed fatal. Both scored very much sedately as in the end they fail to accelerate the scores against the slinging Yorkers of Malinga. Finally ended the innings with 140/4 in 20 overs, and Dilshan batted thru the full innings with just scoring 59 runs off 52 deliveries.  Bowling was too good, Malinga, Munaf, Pollard and Bhajji all stuck to the straight lines and gave very little to swing. Which kept RCB in the bay all the time.

RCB 140/4 in 20 overs.
T.Dilshan 59*      Ab De Villers 38
L.Malinga  2/32       K.Pollard 2/25
RR 143/1 in 18.3 overs.
Sachin 55*         A.Rayudu 63*
D.Nannes 1/0      D.Vettori 0/18

MI WON THE MATCH BY 9 WICKETS.

Needing 141 to win, Mumbai looked to splash thru the early overs with Davy Jacobs which really seemed to work in their favour as it was bit difficult in the middle for Mumbai to score runs, Still can’t say much bcos RCB had nothing to stop both Sachin and Rayudu marching towards victory, Adding fuel to fury, Dirk Nannes who bowled a Wicket maiden went off the field with an injury. In the End half centuries from Rayudu and Skipper Sachin went past the winning runs with 9 balls to spare.

Standings as on DAY 5:

image

Interesting facts on DAY 5:

– Van der Merwe is also known as “Bull Dog”, bcos of two reasons, One he is so quick in de field and runs like Bull Dog, Two he has a Bull dog image tattooed in his back.

– Ashok Menaria (RR) scored the 50th Six of IPL 4.

– Shaun Tait’s 5th ball of the first over, Finch took the strike and it went past in a WHIZZZZZ… and it clocked 157.3 KMPH.

– 50/2 in 10 overs is the slowest ever 50 runs scored by RCB in all the 4 seasons.

– Sachin Tendulkar scored the 200th boundary of IPL 4.

– 110 runs partnership between Sachin & Ambathi Rayudu is the first 100 runs partnership of this season.

– Both the teams got off to the winning score today exactly in the 18.3 overs, with 9 balls to spare, isn’t it interesting..?

– Dilshan’s 50 off 49 balls is the slowest by any Delhi player, previous being Dinesh karthik scoring in 43 balls.

– Both Sachin & Johan Botha are yet get themselves out in this season, both went past 100 runs in this tournament.

– Malinga becomes the first bowler of this season to pick up the wicket of the very first delivery of the match, last season it was his fellow countryman Chaminda Vaas.

– Dirk Nannes Bowled the 3rd Maiden of this season.

– Another day both the matches played today ending in favour of team Batting second.

At the end of DAY 5:

No.of Catches Dropped for the day – 1

Total no.of Boundaries – 211

Total no.of Sixes – 60

Orange Cap – J.Kallis (107) followed by J.Botha (106)

Purple Cap – S.Malinga (7) followed by Shane Warne (4)

Most Sixes – AB De Villers (6) followed by D.Christian (4)

Most Fours – J.Kallis (14) followed by J.Botha (12)

IPL 2: Day 30 Review

May 18, 2009 at 1:10 am (IPL) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Hi all…

Its a Double header Sunday and day no. 30 in IPL 2.

Match 49:

Kings XI Punjab Vs Deccan Chargers

Pretty Important game for Both the teams and esp a must win for KXIP. Gilly won the toss and decided to field first, back to pitch within 12 hours of last game, where they won a classical thriller in last over heroic by Rohit Sharma. Start wan’t so gr8 for KXIP before powerplay cud finish three batsmen are back to pavilion and Yuvi stuck there for a while before he was out to a brilliant arm ball by Venugopal. Sangakarra held the innings together for KXIP in the live wire with few others revolving around him and made a well deserved 56 runs. Rest didn’t make much an impression. Bowling was pretty good and RP Singh claimed back the purple cap, its been a heavy Tug of war for Purple cap, But Orange is so Safe with just one man Hayden.

match 49

Deccans started of in typical blistering fashion, courtesy Gilly, but couldn’t continue for long as he perished when try to take Powar for a maximum, Suman came back in the very next ball, Then its left to Gibbs and Symonds to steady the things and they did pretty well and things were getting out of the hands of KXIP. All of a sudden Skipper pulled a rabbit out the hat from no where, I mean he picked an Hat Trick man…. Man O Man!!! Believe what a season yuvi is having with the ball this is second Hat trick in this IPL Season. All of a sudden panic in Deccan’s and nothing seems to go their way, and KXIP grabbed the opportunity. But One man didn’t give up for DC’s its rohit sharma, who try to create the magic of last nite again, with few exotic shots and pulled the game back to deccan’s from no where. But all of a sudden he was out when needing 4 to win the last 3 balls, and unfortunately deccan tailenders wasn’t capable enough of doing that. They cud have had a shy chance, when they need four of last ball, they cud have ran 3 to get into a tie (bcos they had the chance, due to brett lee’s misfield), but Ryan harris wasn’t even looking back his partner who almost came to the other end. But Nothing to say now, Its KXIP still Fighting hard for their place with a 1 run victory over deccan’s.

Match 50:

Delhi Daredevils Vs Rajasthan Royals

A very much important game for Royals and formality game for Delhi daredevils. Shewag won the toss and decided to bat first, as usual u see, Royal bowlers chipped in with early wickets, this time munaf doing the double trick on the openers (Shewag and Gambhir) (its been a sorry tournament for the gr8 opening pair of India).  then its show of Dilshan  and AB de villers, and they did their work brilliantly. Dilshan was kept much quiet by Rajsthan bowlers, by giving him no width to free his arms and swing around. finally he got himself out in 17th over for 33 runs. on the ther end, De villers scored a another half century of this season, and few fireworks from karthik took them to 150 in their 20 overs.  Botha and Munaf bowled well to pick the wickets , Munaf was too good just before he bowled that disastrous 25 runs last over.

match 50

Looking to chase a score of 151, royals to need to get a good start, but it didn’t happen as both the openers walked back so quickly and Ojha gone as he tried to get some runs, later Jadeja and Botha tried to consolidate the innings but, they weren’t able to accelerate the innings, which proved to lathal in the end, as run rate drept around 10 an over, its always difficult and that  too when u lose Yusuf pathan for just 1 run of 5 balls. Its all over for them, Munaf in the end provided few entertaining knocks for a batsmen at no.11. Bowling Nehra was agian too good, man he is gonna be the key watch out for this man.  bowled his 3 overs for just 8 and picked up a wicket.  Amit mishra picked up 3 crucial wickets too… In the whole Delhi had a good game and royals didn’t.  Which means now Rajasthan has to pray god, that luck favors them to make themselves in the Semi finals.

Standings as on Day 30 IPL 2:

IPL 2: DAY 11 Review

April 29, 2009 at 4:52 am (IPL) (, , , , , )

Hi guys,

Its day 11 in IPL…

Match 18:

Rajasthan Royals Vs Delhi Daredevils

Delhi won the toss and decided to bat first, without any negligence, but warne said, he wud have bowled first if he has won the toss… Tat was quite interesting… Any how, his words proved right and DD were 42/3 after first 6 overs. (which is their lowest first 6 over total in 4 games.)

De villers again scored a brilliant 50 and late work from vettori helped delhi to take the team to a respectable total of 143 in 20 overs.

Bowling of RR mentions a spl applause, esp from Munaf patel who bowled a wicket maiden 19th over. and his figures 4-1-14-2

maych-18

Chasing a Meager target of 143, things didnt really go well for Rajasthan, they strated fumbling right from the beginning and ended up 64/5 in 11 overs. which left 80 to score in remaining 9 overs, at the rate of 9 per over. But nothing seems to be big, infront this big man, Yusuf Pathan he scored a swashbucling 62 of 30 balls to take home Rajasthan their second and must needed win. Nothing to take away from Grame smith who held the innings together right from the beginning till the end… Did a fabulous job of staying rooted to the crease and rotating strikes for yusuf. In the end, Its Rajasthan Royals won the match by 5 wickets with 9 balls to spare. Mishra was the pick of the bowlers, unless he was destroyed by yusuf in his last over. 4-0-34-3.

Standings as on Day 11:

standings-8

Interesting Facts on Day 11 IPL:

– Grame Smith and Yusuf Pathan recorded the Highest ever 6th wicket partnership of 83 runs.

– Munaf Patel bowled his first Wicket maiden over in T20 format, Tat too a critical 19th over.

– Yusuf Pathan Bettered his Strike by 206.66 (previous best was 200 (42 off 21 balls))scoring 62 of 3o deliveries for this IPL season.

– DD dropped 3 catches today and 2 were off Yusuf pathan, and the very next ball Yusuf scored Boundary and six respectively.

– Its 8 th time wicket goes down after strategic time out, today its twin strike for Mishra, Warne and Jadeja.
